Which one do you have? Would you recommend it? If so why?

I have the Kodak EasyShare DX 6440, with the printing docking station, which also recharges the batteries. I love this concept, the printer and the fact I don't have to replace batteries, but I want a camera that I can do faster shots, without the lengthy recovery time between pictures.

Like with the new gbaby, I'll have this awesome shot, then between the time I actually press the button and the camera captures the shot, the eyes are closed and the head is turned.

I love taking pictures, and I have the old Canon Rebel, which is not digital, but has all the fancy lenses, but I hate film.

Any suggestions from the camera buffs out there?

I also have a Sony, mine is a DSC-F717. It is a great camera (bigger than a pocket size though), I do however have to be quick with the trigger to get an action shot. My camera will allow me to 'be ready' though by only pressing the button about half-way (allowing the camera to focus) and then I push it the rest of the way when I am ready. The burst sequence that Jack mentioned works very well also. Mine also will record in movie mode, giving me yet another chance to cut and edit pictures out of the short films.

I have an Olympus c2500-L for "real" pictures, and a Fuji Finepix S-700 for quickies. The Fuji is great for its purpose, no complaints, couldn't have picked a better picture. Photography is a hobby of mine and I bought the C2500 to get away from 35mm so I went with this digital SLR but have really missed having a choice in lenses. My next purchase )I think DH is getting it for my birthday next month) will be a Canon EOS Digial Rebel... digital SLR with more than 50 lens choices!

HarleyNana - what is your primary goal for the photos? Do you want to keep them online, or are you looking to get quality prints? Do you do any serious photography, or just for memories?

Wheetsin, I'd say my new goal is more serious hobby and of course the memories. Like I mentioned above the DX6440 is great for everyday, but when you have those really special moments, or that keepsake shot of the grandkids, or an egret or herron flying by, I think I'd need the SLR digital.

I've looked into the Rebel, especially since I already have the dinasour Rebel that uses REAL film, LOL. I wonder if my old lenses would fit, wouldn't that be a hoot!

I'm not sure of the model # but we have a Sony. Its wonderful, we can even plug the card into my TV to watch the short movies it takes or just the pictures (we have a Sony tv) the camera has loads of really neat features.

My DH gave me a digital camera for Christmas and I love it. It takes awesome night shots, has video capabilities, has a 8X zoom, and can be set to either manual or automatic. It is a Cannon PowerShot A620. The only drawbacks I've encountered so far is that the pictures take up a lot of room on the card. We had to get a 1GB card in order to take a lot of pics.

I have a cannon powershot S-70, which I love upgraded from the S-50 a year ago. I too am looking for something a little faster as I have a 2 year old and plan to have another and I have gotten frustrated. We are looking at the digital Cannon Rebel ourselves and actually have been told that the lens are inter-changable. Went to a camera shop here that told us that becuase I have some old lens myself. So you might be on the right path... If you get a Rebel please let me know how you like it.

Well...if you want to up the ante a little bit....I bought my wife a Digital SLR Canon Rebel XT last year and it is AMAZING. I noticed that you had a Rebel with film...the new SLR can by bought now for less than $700. It's not cheap, but the difference and the speed and quality of the shots are pretty amazing. I can hold down the button and shoot as fast as film...but I can store 500 pics on a half-gig card, download them, edit them, and send them to my local print shop. I believe that some of your old lenses and filters would fit, too....but I haven't tried it.

we just got a digital Rebel for Christmas, and I love it! Hi Joanna, have you tried changing the image resolution? It sounds like you're on the highest, and unless you're going to do a lot of large scale printing you don't need to take up that much disk space. Or it sounds like you have a tiny memory card by default. Or perhaps you have the camera set to a lossless compression format. Have you tried messing with the settings?

Just checked and your camera apparently comes with a 32MB card. That's not much! Your camera and it supports 5 different resolutions between 640x480 and 3072x2304. At the lowest, in a lossless format, a 32MB card should hold about 80 pictures.

I got the kodak easy share 740 digital with the printer dock for my birthday in October and I'm still learning how to get the most out of it. I love it, but I'm also noticing that holding the button halfway in to focus then grabbing a quick shot works well, but I still end up with a lot of missed shots when I'm not ready. I love the camera printer dock, and the rechargeable batteries are a godsend. I used to change batteries at least once everytime I took my old one somewhere!

I started with a Canon digital point and shoot, and then progressed to the Canon Digital Rebel. As a newbie in the world of photography, I have to say that this camera makes me look like one talented PhotoNut! It's a great starter camera for the serious photographer. However, when I bought mine it was right about $1,000. There are others out there now for that price that are more advanced with way more pixels. I would recommend buying the best you can get for the money because technology is always coming out with something better.
