Just wanted to know what your weightloss was a month after the surgery! Thanks in advance!

I know that it REALLY varies from person to person, but I lost 14 pounds in the first month after surgery. I had lost 20 pounds prior to surgery on a 3 week liquid preop diet.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Girrrrl, don't even go there. If I could do a cyper finger snap I would.

You'll be glad that you didn't. One of the things I see a lot of on this board and am totally guilty of myself ,is 'comparisons'. Your banding process is as unique as you and your body are. There is no way to say what is average.

I can't even remember what I lost post-op. That time is hard to tell anyway with swelling, and your body's natural reaction to the band. I didn't have a pre-op diet for very long...A. Because from the day I decided to do the surgery to actual surgery was only 3 weeks and B. because I could hardly stick to the pre-op diet.

Whatever you lose will be a fantastic victory. In all honesty, in the beginning weight loss is just a number because most of us don't really 'see' a difference until a little later. But I guess that really depends on your start weight/size. I was a size 24.

So, whatever you lose post-op will feel amazing and it will just get better and better, but beware of how you handle your comparisons to others, sometimes that can bite us in the tushie.

Ah, the voice of experience. Whenever we compare ourselves to others, whether it be in weight loss or anything else, we are bound to find out that we are different, I cannot think of a time that I compared myself and came out even, which means I will either feel superior or I will feel bad, neither is good for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. ย Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! ๐Ÿ˜ž
