do not think that u will be bald u may need more protein..

I lost alot of hair about my 4th month....I would talk to your Doctor...maybe even do a Blood Draw to see where all your Vitamin levels are at. Most likely your not getting the proper amount of protein though....very common.

I have the same problem 'cause my caloric intake is on the low side. Make sure you get 50 gm of protein a day and get yourself a vitamin from GNC called "hair ,skin and nails". It's supposed to work wonders. It's huge though so I break it in half and then swallow it.

do a search for telogen effluvium. That's the term for hair loss associated with stress.. which WLS is stress to our bodies. I posted earlier today on this subject .. I think in the post-op section.

Since you're a bit on the young side for menopause, that's not likely the cause.. but those of us who are nearing that, it can also cause hair loss.

If it continues, go to your PCP and have blood work done.. there's lots of Vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can also affect hair loss.

best of luck.

You can get this just from going under general anesthesia! The four month timeline looks right for that. It's just that the hairs all went into "resting" phase vs "active", most likely. That hair will come back, but it will take some time.

This happened to me after a completely unrelated surgery, and then it happened again after getting pneumonia and taking prednisone (I lost half of my hair that time!). So it's not just protein or vitamins- it can be the surgery itself. Just take care of yourself as best you can, and it'll come back :crying:

Had a question.. I have long hair (past my bra), Thick(well used to be), Do you think cutting it would help reduce the hair loss? I am 8 months out and its still falling out at a good rate.. I have a follow appt at my surgeon Thursday so I am going to see if they could do blood work.

I actually did cut my hair and it did help the hair loss. I also donated it to "Locks of Love"....wonderful program if you have at least 10 inches to spare :) and now letting it grow back out...seems to be going good so far.
