A question about chewing food

I am 4 weeks post op and now that I am past all the post op diet restrictions I am wondering how much to actually chew my food. I think I have myself so freaked out about food getting stuck that I might be chewing it too much. I tend to chew it until it's almost liquid. Is that really necessary? The reason I ask is I have a hard time eating because I get so sick of chewing it that after a tiny bit I just give up and tend to reach for a protein shake instead. Any chewing advice would be appreciated!

Hi Suz,

You soon get to know how much to chew foods. You are probably chewing too much at the moment but will find later that you will need to chew more as the band gets more Fluid in it. I wouldnt panic about getting a stuck episode, its always a consideration but if you just try to cut small peices of food you will find it will go down ok.

Anyway good luck.

I just make sure every bite is well chewed, not liquified.
