Actually, according to most, and going by my doctor and a few friends doctor..no, pcos is not a comorbidity. Usually most insurance companies only list diabetes (not pre diabetes) high blood pressure and DOCUMENTED sleep apnea. Correct me anyone if I am wrong....and then of course is your BMI. If it is over 40, you almost always automatically qualify. Sorry and good luck.

Mine accepted PCOS (I have tricare for my insurance). Also, I have a family history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes, and they accepted that (I was borderline diabetic, so the family history of diabetes made it more serious).

PCOS does however aggravate insulin resistance or is a result of it. Diabetes is the comorbidity. Although I had diabetes and high cholesterol, my gyn also wrote me a note of support for the band.

My surgeon considered PCOS a comorbidity, but there was no insurer that had to be "convinced", so I don't know that it matters.
