Dry Heaving...Help!

I am two weeks post op and on mushies. Today I had some avacado pieces. About a 30 minutes later I felt awful sick to my stomach! I tried relaxing and breathing slow. However, I had to run to the bathroom to throw up! But, it was just dry heaves and burping. It hurt! I've done it once more after I took the anti-nausa meds. Nothing came up. What's wrong? How can I make it stop?:)

Positive feedback loop. Heaving causes swelling which causes heaving. As far as I know, you just have to ride it out until it peters out. Happens to me a lot.

I am 11 months out. When it starts for me I try to just wash my face until I relax and it stops. It is not good for your band or fun for you.

You can try drinking something hot. That usually helps with the swelling and inflammation. But you may not be able to get it down. If you are still having trouble after the first sip or 2, then just stop and don't do anything else. It will pass.
