Weight gain starting on solids

Has anyone heard of gaining weight when you transition from mushies to solid food? The nutritionist said that there is a possibility of a small weight gain initially....what the heck?!?! Is there any way to avoid that????

Thanks,

Katie

Pretty much no way to avoid it. Basically, when you are on liquids, your GI tract empties out completely. Normally, you keep a certain amount of matter in there. When you start on mushies, this goes back to normal and it shows on the scales.

You are not gaining WEIGHT, however, as in fat, you are simply putting the Fluid and solids back in your GI tract where they belong.

It comes right back off, don't fret it.

Thanks, Suzanne. That made me feel better. I just couldn't imagine GAINING weight by not only eating so little but also being frustrated because I worked this hard to get it off!

I gained about 3-5 pounds while on mushies. As soon as I went back to solid foods and working out, I dropped it right away. Dont worry about it!

Just be sure that when you go to solids you are eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water and keeping your calories low. You should feel good and continue to lose.
