Ok have a question from a friend of mine... has anybody had to deal wit Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alamaba?? If so how long does it normally take to get approval? and how tough are they on getting approved?

now if i could get my Doc to finish writing the letter of medical neccessity id be done!!! i have no patience!

Mommy2ps , when is your surgery date? im hoping for August 20 ish at the latest. My surgeon is submitting all the paperwork this week.

I'm just attending a seminar this Thursday and hope to get the ball rolling SOON. I'm a student and trying to get a surgery date by mid-August. Realistic? If not I'll have to wait until winter break!

I,m from PA and have BCBS and had to go threw 6 months of Dr. visits see a nutritionist , and a Shrink and an exercise person...:smile:

I am from Alabama and I have had several friends that have had the Lap Band with BC/BS and it is my understanding they have not had any problems. All of the costs were covered. I am looking into having the Lap Band and I also have BC/BS.

I have BCBS of georgia and all i needed was a letter from my Dr. a bmi of 40 or 35 with a co-morbidity and a nutritional consult(just one) , a pysch eval and thats all!!! now i wait for approval!

I have BCBS of Georgia too. That's all the Summary Plan Description said I had to have also. It is hard to believe it could be that easy. I am scheduled to meet the DR and a seminar on July 29. I am just getting started. How long has it taken you to this point?
