Newly Banded

I had my surgery yesterday, and am home today. Feeling a bit sore and incredibly full. I have to sip, sip, sip to make sure I get all the nutrients and H2O I need.

Really tired this morning but glad to be home and have the procedure overwith.

I just hope and pray I made the right decision.

My liver apparently was quite pretty. Doc was proud of my efforts, and said he could tell I did not cheat at all. He said it made the surgery much safer and easier on me.

Thanks to all of you for your support and prayers.

Ruthie:lol:

MC

I am 2 days post op...So I know how you feel right now. Today for lunch was the first time I have actually been able to put down about a 1/2 cup of soup. I wasn't hungry at all but I knew I need to try and get something down. Walking does help a ton...just don't over do it...I over did it a bit this morning so I am paying for it...Walking does help as long as it is not is excess...

Congratulations!!!

HI EVERYBODY I HAVEN'T DONE THE SURGURY YET BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EVEN THOUGH ITS EARLY IF YOU ARE ALL GLAD YOU WENT THOUGH WITH THE BANDING?:)

Congrats Ruthie! Hope you get to feeling better soon! For me, I'm 4 days out and getting around pretty well. The gas is still a pain. But, other than that - it's all good.

Today was the first day that I can honestly say I was hungry. But, I ate some (my doc has pureed foods for the next two weeks) and I am fine and full. I'm trying to not drink anything - that's been the big change. I have to go eat without anything to drink near me.

And a big :) on the liver. How funny is it that I was all asking about my liver, too. It was like we wanted a liver report card. For all that hard work of the pre-op diet, we should all get A's!

Better Life - right now I can say that I'm very happy with my decision. I haven't had the first fill, yet but I am glad to have the initial surgery behind me.

Welcome to your new life. Enjoy your new band, and body. (Oh, and most important- enjoy buying new clothes!!!)

ABSOLUTELY! I was banded 3/18, lost 10 lbs on pre-op diet and have lost 6 more since the surgery. I'm on 3 weeks of liquid diet before I can eat anything mushy or solid, and don't get my first fill until 5/1. The hunger is there but not bad, I don't feel much restriction. Was up and walking an hour after surgery, my Dr says walk walk walk, helps with the gas. Pretty much 100% now except for a little tenderness at the port incision. Stepped on the scale this morning and saw a number that begins with a "1" for the first time in about 5 years - that felt so good!!!!!
