Favorite Restaurant Foods??

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Tonight is the first night my husband and I will be going on a date sence my surgery. I am on soft foods and very little solid foods (still testing the waters..)

I was wondering what successful restaurant foods everyone has grown to love??? Any suggestions as to what to look for to order??

Hi,

About 3 weeks post-op, I did go out to lunch w/ my boyfriend and I ordered a salad platter (scoop of tuna, chicken, & egg salad). Of course, I could only eat about half of the scoop of tuna and took the rest home. I know those aren't your typical dinner suggestions, but in the beginning I stuck to foods that were soft and high Protein. So I'd stick to a flaky broiled or steamed fish. Now that I'm a few months out, I've had dinners out and have ordered grilled chicken, veggie burger no bun or salmon. However, with chicken, I tend to poor balsamic vinegar over it to add some moisture. No matter what you choose, make sure to take small bites and chew, chew, chew. Enjoy!

Best,

Lauren

Soup or chili is a good bet. I am amazed at how good some of the soup in restaurants can be..... very yummy.

I stay away from the type with noodles though. Chili with steak in it does not work for me. I eat chili several times a week. yum and good Protein.< /p>

If you go someplace with seafood, scallops are very soft and taste good.

Just a little caution concerning: Chili

I tried to eat some the other day & it gave me HUGE heartburn/gas/pain! It wasn't spicy, it was meatless, but had Beans. I never had these problems before the lapband, but I would really be careful eating Chili.*It was not worth the pain, & I promised myself I would NOT eat chili again for another Year! Just want to help you not have any regrets, it might not bother you, but then again...thats what I thought!

:)

Sashimi! My favorite is tuna tartare, because it's already cut into tiny cubes. It's great, because it takes forever to eat with chopsticks!

tuna tartar of tuna tataki is a good option in a japanesse restaurant. I like to eat the salmon and mashed potatoes from Long Horn. macaroni Grill also has salmon and mashed potatoes of veggies. I don't find it difficult to order when I go out to eat. Fish is always a great choice.

Whenever we go out to eat, I always order fish. I don't have any problems with it at all! Nowdays almost every restaurant offers fish in some form or another.

I'm much further out at four years, but these days it feels like my body is really wanting Iron, I'm craving red meat. Everytime I've been out lately, I've had a steak, like a good eye fillet or filet mignon, I can eat it easily when its well cooked, and I dont cook red meat well!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
