Protein Shake Alternative

I'm drinking the Special K shakes and they are disgusting! Any alternatives out there?

Those are very high calorie and not so high protein. Walmart has Adkins and EAS Advantage. Do a search, there are several threads with recommendations on protein drinks.

I've found two brands I like - Trader Joe's brand of chocolate and vanilla were doable, and I drank them pre-op. Post-op I'd been turned on to bariactriceating.com, and their protein shakes are DELICIOUS! Tastes just like I threw a peanut butter cookie, or piece of mint chocolate fudge, or double chocolate cake (just a few of their flavors) in a blender. I'll never try another protein shake, because I've found something EXTREMELY yummy, and the protein count is outstanding! Definitely the best bang for my buck, protein shake wise :smile2:.

Yeuck! those ARE Nasty! I bought a bunch thinking they were gonna be like heaven and... EWWW lol! I couldn't even give them away!

I drink a few of Bariwise products, but mostly I drink Shakeology. My favorite is chocolate, but I love the berry too :smile2:

hope that helps :)

I am new here but have been approved for surgery on Mrch 22nd. I was given several samples of the Unjury brand shakes and talk about good. They were wonderful. The chocolate was just like nestle quick and milk.:) I use unsweetened Silk Soy (lactose intolerat) but is sooooo good. I just received my order today and cant wait to have one tonight. I star my "pre-surgery" diet on wed and they are gonna make the time easy to do. Seriously try them. As you Dr office if they have samples. :smile2:

Hi Im Bob. Im not required to do a liquid diet but am doing one anyway. I started yesterday(Sat) and my surgery is scheduled for Wed. the 10th. Im hoping 5 days is enough to help "shrink liver". Anyway I went to Walmart and bought a couple cases of protien weight loss shakes called "Equate", I believe theyre walmart brand and they taste very good, I bought chocolate and strawberrys & cream. Ive only tasted choc. so far, they also had fr. vanilla. It has 230 cals., 10 gr. prot., 2gr fat per 11oz can. The 2nd best part is it was only $5.00 a pack(a few cents/I believe 8 cans). Im very impressed with the taste. The label says"compare to slimfast", so its very similar.

It may not be practical for you as a preop option, but Bariatric Eating (BariatricEating.com - BE, Inc. The number one bariatric website for protein, vitamins, and success.) has EXCELLENT proteins. I really love the Inspire line...Dutch chocolate cake + unsweetened almond milk is heavenly.

I like the GNC 100% Whey protein...they have 21G protein/ 120 calories.

My doctor specified Whey protein when I was pre-op; I found EAS Whey. It's drinkable, but not super good. I'm still trying to use it all before I start looking for something new

Hi everyone this is my first comment, I also love the Walmart Equate, but the calorie intake is high, they now have a lower calorie Equate and they taste just as great. hope that hepled.
