I'm hungry

I am 3 days post op. My husband just made dinner for himself and the kids and I really feel hungry. Should I feel this hungry? I am drinking liquids and the protein shakes. Why do I feel so starved?

You're hungry because you haven't had anything to eat in days! It's completely normal. I went into surgery hungry, I came out hungry, and I remained hungry until I could start on mushy foods.

Also realize that some of it might not be hunger--I had to relearn what my new version of hungry felt like after I had surgery. Some of it might just be because you're stomach's mad at you for putting it through some trauma.

Don't worry, you can make it through. It's difficult and it's frustrating, but you can do it. And you'll look back on it in a month or so and think, "Hey, that wasn't bad!"

I agree, this is pretty normal and what I experienced too.
