  1. Is there any wonder why health care in this country is such a mess! Rediculous! I know they don't get paid what they are actually billing but they sure as heck get more than the self pay. What's the difference?!
  2. Oh yes... I'd do it. I agree who cares about the rest. Remember, you are doing it for YOU!
  3. yup... totally normal, i couldn't believe how much i hicupped!
  4. I'm sure you didn't stretch your pouch, you don't want to vomit unless you can't help it, that could cause a slip. O my, if i could get rid of everything I ate that I shouldn't have I'd be 50 pounds lighter. Sometimes we eat the wrong things... but really is anything "wrong" if eaten in moderation? I have treats once in a while or I'd go crazy. I agree with the journaling your food. It really helps me make better decisions on what to put in my mouth because I know if I eat that doughnut it is the same calories as a whole meal. I have had a couple of really bad days, one involved an entire box of girl scout Cookies. The next day... i put myself back on track. Funny thing is, I really thought I could eat just 2 cookies. I don't beat myself up... I just move on. Good luck to you!
  5. I notice a lot of people on here say a fill takes a few days or even weeks to take affect. How can that be??? I have no idea.
  6. Maybe you could try exercising... I seem to be able to get "unstuck" if I take a brisk walk. I would quit eating anything until it was unstuck, but I can not drink a drop when I'm stuck, it comes righ back up. Home someones advice works for you. I hate being stuck! Good Luck!
  7. Wow... way to go!!!!
  8. Well.. my experience has been great. I had my initial apointment the first of April and was banded June 29th so about 2 months but it went sooooo fast. I have only had 3 fills in 9 months, I'm not big into the fill thing either (as long as I am losing weight I guess). I think most people agree that soda in a no go although I know people on here that drink it. They say it can stretch your pouch, others say it doesn't but can make you uncomfortable. Soda is just unhealthy no matter how you look at it (can't believe I just said that coming from a diet coke addict -funny how we change). I will admit I have had a few cocktails that have had soda in them, I try to stir a good portion of the fizz out of them, I had no discomfort from drinking them. I don't think I have experienced the "band Hell" and I was off work for 2 weeks but could have easily gone back after a week. As for the water, I dont' know what you have heard but lots of water is a must. I drink about 100 oz a day. I would do it all again in a heartbeat! Good luck to you!
  9. Yep.. in one ear and out the other. Don't let it get you down and if they can't say anything constructive tell them you don't want to discuss it with them. This is about you, being healthier, not being thinner... being healthier!!! The thinner part is a bonus! Best of luck to you on your journey!
  10. I don't eat Breakfast if I do it is a yogurt about 10:00 8:00 - 10:00am 2 - 12 OZ DECAFS 10 - 11:30 24 OZ Water OR CRYSTAL LITE IN THE MORNING (done by 11:30) 12:00 - lunch 1:30 - 5:00 48 0z water or crystal lite 5:30 - 16 oz water with work out 7:00 - super 9:00 usually take a 16 oz bottle and sip on it and take it to bed (i get so thirsty at night) drink about 8 oz by morning. I Try to get at least 100 oz a day, but I always get at least 64. I find it more important to not drink after a meal than before. When I first started i had to force 64 oz down, A few months ago I was fighting hunger between meals but did feel like I needed a fill so my Nut. suggested more water. They say it has nothing to do with weight loss but mine sure picked up when I increased my water, altho... it could be many things.
  11. Wow... that made me a little emotional!!! Congrats, keep up the good work!
  12. I have had restriction ever since my surgery. We are all so different. Good Luck to you!
  13. my diet was just like your's also... I lost 28 pounds that first month. Different doctors have different standards but truth be told.... we all lose differently.
  14. EXACTLY! Thank you!
  15. Sometimes... it is really really hard. You pick yourself up and start over tomorrow. It's over and done with so don't beat yourself up. If you can't resist that stuff in the check out isle... don't go there by yourself. I am 9 months post op, just yesterday I went to the grocery store and couldn't make it past the bakery without buying 2 doughnuts. They haunted me through the whole store, ashamed to say it but I left them in the Cereal isle, but they didn't go home with me and I didn't eat them. A treat, even one that is not good for you, is ok once in a while, but you really are sabatoging yourself by going soooo overboard. You can do this, i believe if I can anyone can!!! I wish you the very best of luck!
  16. breakfast - yogurt lunch - 1/2 roast beef sandwich w/ cheese and onion supper - bbq chicken breast, cheesy rice, steamed broccoli & cauliflower
  17. I eat 2 meals a day and 1 snack. I don''t drink for 1/2 - 1 hour after I eat. I drink aprox 100 oz. of Water a day. Drinking up until I eat (or about) doesn't seem to affect me. I'm too full to drink directly after I eat. If I drink during a meal... I can eat WAY more! I see your delema. I think the biggest thing is to not drink right after you eat so you stay satisfied longer.
  18. I would inform them(or remind them) , point blank, what you've been through and remind them how unhealthy you were!!! WTH? And that "easy way out" phrase ticks me off!!! What is easy about it. It helps a lot, I honestly could not lose the weight I've lost without it, but it sure as hell has not been easy. I've changed my entire life to get healthy and along with that comes confindence and feeling good about yourself. Good for you! Keep up the good work! (sort of wondering about my sisters, they never even ask how I'm doing)
  19. A hamburger is my favorite food. It is the bun that gets me not the burger. Last week I bought some of those "sandwich thins". Toasted it a little, made a nice thin burger with light mayo, ketchup onion, lettuce, tomato. Went down fine. mmmmmmmm had another one the next day!!! ( I had burger left over). It completely filled me up, had no more calories than something else I would have eaten for supper.
  20. I was told for every one cup of coffee you need to drink and extra 16 oz of water. I drink decaf duing the week but Saturday and Sunday... it's nothing but the full strength!!! Lots of different toughts on coffee, just make sure you get enough water!
  21. So, you shouldn't take your calcium with your iron??? Didn't know that, did they say why? And why space the calcium? Thanks for the info - I take it all at once, will change that.
  22. I am 9 months out. Breakfast - I'm super tight, usually have a yogurt about 10:00am, or sometimes a piece of fruit. if I'm not hungry I don't eat until lunch. Lunch - usually a salad with lots of raw veg (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, radish, cucumber - its more veg than lettuce) with chicken, turkey, roast beef, steak, whatever left over meat I have. Sometimes a Lean Cusine or chicken salad on a sandwich thin. Supper - 4/5 oz of meat, veg and salad. sometimes a starch added in there instead of the salad because I can go several days without rice or potato and then I just really "need" it. Late Night Snack - if I have one it is usually a yogurt or a weight watcher raspberry/dark choc. ice cream bar, or a 100 calorie pack of Cookies... lol which i don't do often cuz one usually leads to two. (cookies are my weakness)
  23. You're just 2 weeks... chin up. I have to count calories or I'd over eat. Not because I could eat more quantity but because counting calories makes me make better choices. On 1200 calories if I make the right choices I am full and satisfied and don't think about chocolate or Cookies. If I got that 1200 calories from a blizzard and an order of fries I'd be starving the rest of the day! I can honestly say... I eat as much as I want... I'm full and satisfied (except for the occasional craving) Eat healthy, exercise and drink you Water, you'll lose the weight!
