Embarrassed Of My Lap Band - Ridiculous, I Know...
I don't care who knows, but I know some people do. But by all means don't let anyone make you feel like you took the easy way out. I have been overweight since I was a child. I am now 49. I've been on every diet under the sun, and I can tell you this, I have never worked so hard at losing weight as I have with the lap band. It is just a tool, a tool you are using to help you lose weight. You know.... the same way a car is a tool and "they" use it to get to work instead of walking (that would make them lazy too, right?) Same way we every tool ever invented is used. To make life easier, more convenient, to aid us in our journey. Good luck to you!

Pineapple Juice
Sorry, I've heard pineapple juice works. Worth a try.

Pineapple Juice
have you eaten since? If everything else, including Water is going down fine I don't think you are stuck? When I'm stuck I produce tons of saliva. I did have something stuck once for about 8 hours. But I could not eat or drink anything because it would come right back up. Strange, hope it gets resolved soon.

Question About A Fill
I would say yes, make sure you make it clear that it is will power that is getting you by.

Drinking And Standing
I was told 30 minutes after. No, on the standing thing. When I would get stuck I would stand and walk around, jump up and down (lol) that didn't work either!

Maybe A Silly Question
Somebody else asked this the other day, We must all plan on rollercoasters this summer. I haven't been able to fit on one in years but I can now and come August I'm going to ride every ride in the park. I don't think the band would affect you at all. Have Fun!

A Little Discouraged....
Love my band, have a ways to go still... and no doubt I will get there. I read a lot that dr's suggest the sleeve instead of the band. You would think they'd put the info out there and let you decide. anyways, I've lost 149 pounds!

Just One Of Those Days..
In my first months after being banded I felt the same way. Then I realized it was not what I was eating as much as how I was eating. Honestly, I can eat anything if i follow the rules. Small bite, Chew, Chew, Chew and eat slowly. With each fill I would have to learn this all over again because it was so different. I have not had a stuck episode in months. I eat, pork, beef, chicken, fish. all of it. I tend to stay away from bread and Pasta but not so much because of the "stuck" issue (altho... the chances greatly increase) but because I get full really fast, and because of the calories. There are definately foods that don't go down as well, but if i am really really mindful when I'm eating them I don't have a problem. Of course, this is me and if there is one thing I have learned it is that the band is very different for everyone. Keep up the good fight - Best of Luck!

Help
It can be really difficult. You should try to stick to liquids. If you happened to have a "stuck" episode and ended up throwing up your band could slip quite easily. It takes time for the band to "seat" itself and kind of heal into place. You do not what to jeapordize this. (anyway, that is what I have been told) On the other hand, my dr allowed mushies after just one week. So if you really can not stick to the liquid you should stick with cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. You really need to get some kind of control because no matter how tight your band is or how much restriction you have you can eat things that are bad or wrong choices and it will affect your weight loss. Really think about why you did this and try to get it under control. I wish you luck, it is not easy... I have never worked so hard at losing weight in my life and I am so glad I did it. You can do it too! Teresa

Lapband - Questions Any Suggestions Would Be Awesome
I need some suggestions, if anyone can assist that would be awesome. My questions are: 1. How many times do you have to get a fill? I have had 4, it has been over a year since my last fill. My brother has never had a fill (but in my opinion needs one. He as lost 80 pounds with no fill in his band but he has started to put some back on. 2. Does anyone get side effects like Nausea etc? Never had this problem. 3. How long does the approval take? took 2 weeks for me. 4. How long is the procedure itself? I was in surgery for 45 minutes and they also repaired a hyatial (spelling) hernia in that time. 5. Is this outpatient procedure? Or in patient? Mine was inpatient 6. Do you have to prove you have sleep disorder? Sleep study 7. Do most insurances approve the operation? no idea, mine did 8. once the operation is done - do you have follow a strict diet? Like shakes? if so what kind? I drank 2 Protein shakes - total. 9. Can you go back to work the next day or in my case Nights? once the procedure is done. I'd say you need 1 week off. Any suggestions would be awesome Good luck! do your homework and make and educated decision. (sounds like you are)

Problem With Protein Shakes
When I "had to" drink them I used Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with skim milk. That was like drinking chocolate milk. Mixed with the milk it had 13 g of protien and about 230 calories.

How Do You Know If Your Band Has Slipped?
yes, you would have food issues and liquid for that matter (typically anyway)
-
Problem With Protein Shakes
