  1. Looking for other bandsters in the DFW area around my age (24) who need a workout buddy or just a new friend who understands what they're going through. Male, female, newly banded, already at goal, doesn't matter. I'm 6 months out, 55 lbs down, and looking for new friends.

Why are there no banded guys in DFW?

Aww, thanks, hon! Do you have one?

    Hows your sex life?

Sex life is pretty much just as disappointing as it was before!

    DFW Bandster Brunch

Don't know how many people from the DFW area there are on here, but a few of my blogger friends and I are having a brunch July 24th at 1:00 pm in the area. Anyone interested just send me a message and I'll give you the information! Should be tons of fun.
  5. My mom was banded in 2007 by Dr. Frank Felts and hasn't gone in for a fill in about a year, but when she went back to True Results AfterCare (since she didn't feel comfortable going to Dr. Felts' new office in The Colony, even though he was her surgeon), they turned her away. For two different reasons: 1.) Dr. Felts isn't practicing at the Surgery Center of Richardson anymore. 2.) No doctors want to assume liability for one of his patients, because of Dr. Felts' high occurrence of post-operative complications. Dr. Felts DOES NOT follow-up OR do his due-diligence by educating his patients. This is something to think about when considering Dr. Felts as an option for a LapBand surgeon. Is someone who isn't backed up by his peers someone you want performing your surgery?

    SEVERE reflux at night

Seconded. Definitely not normal for a surgeon to just ignore this classic sign of overfill. Hope you feel better!

    December 20th!!

At my doctor's office they did fasting blood work, went over the procedure in great detail, did a pulmonary test, and an EKG. Sounds like your doctor is pretty hands on if it'll take you that long.

I'm being banded on the 20th, too! I'm on the South Beach Diet phase i for seven days before surgery, day two is alot better than day one! lol My surgery is at 9:00 am. So ready to get this over with, the waiting is the worst!!
  12. Hey Cherie, haven't seen you around in a while. Was just wondering how the insurance approval process was going? :)

    Banded 12.2

    Congrats!! How are you feeling?
  14. Oh, dang, I just saw you're actually having surgery the same day as me, too cool! :D

  15. Hey, I saw you were looking for a buddy in a post. I'm in McKinney and my surgery is December 20th. (Woohoo!) Are you already banded, or waiting on approval? :)

  16. Only three more days until you start your pre-op diet! :) Enjoy your last days of freeeedom!

I had to change my surgery date to the 20th, because I got a new surgeon so I'm starting my diet on the 12th as well. :)

  17. If anyone uses Blogger, follow me and I'll do the same. Would be great to have some friends on there for encouragement! http://bandumentary.blogspot.com

  18. From what he said, it was more, he's heard bad things about WLS, but he was thinking I was getting gastric bypass. Once I told him about lapband that put his mind at easy to where now he's completely supportive. I agree it probably was too much too soon, though. I was thinking I should have approached it in a different way than I did though. Too late to take it back now, though.
  19. Well, guys, 4 weeks before my surgery, I started dating the nicest guy ever. We met about 9 months ago but finally we both had a schedule that meshed enough to start spending time together, and it's been a blast so far! We've only been out on two dates so far, but I'm hoping to keep seeing him. My question is...since I'm having such a life-changing surgery on the 23rd, SHOULD I tell him about it? Don't I owe it to him since I'll be out of commission for a week or two afterward? I'm so confused, and NERVOUS about telling him. He's pretty laid back but I have no idea how he feels about weight loss surgery... and as I've had a bit of a bad reaction from some of the friends I've told, I'm even more nervous about telling a guy I actually like. Does anyone have any experience with this?!
  20. It'd be kind of hard to explain why I wouldn't be able to see him for 2 weeks or so. So that's why I chose to, Elfie. Plus, I actually like the guy, having a secret banded life just isn't for everyone, I suppose.
  21. Wow, he sounds like a winner. That's my biggest fear, going out with someone and have them say something negative about weight loss surgery. I actually talked to the guy again tonight after telling him around midmorning... he had talked to a mutual friend and he said that helped to put things in perspective for him. He said he was just kind of blown away by the information. We've only been dating a very short time... it was alot to process for him, I suppose. Not sure if it's going to end up being a good thing or a bad thing, but we made another date for Sunday night. We'll see how it goes.
  22. Thanks, guys. Makes me feel better to have such great supportive people to talk to.
  23. I told him, I think it freaked him out. Maybe I should have waited a few more weeks. Have a feeling I won't be seeing him again. lol
  24. I hear ya! My dad was the same way, I wanted to get my surgery about a year and a half ago but he discouraged me. This time I told him, it's my decision, if you have valid medical concerns we'll discuss them, other than that - I've made up my mind. As for my guy, I don't think he'd begrudge me a couple pounds, because he's a big guy. But there's still the fear of not knowing how he'll react. I might give it another week or two before I say anything, see how it goes.
