  1. Hi Guys! I was banded 11/9. I am thrilled to have lost 36 pounds, but it has been hard work! I've had 3 fills, upto 6.3 in a 14cc band. I exercise 6 days a week, either elliptical or Leslie Sansome dvd. I just ordered Jillian Michaels 30 day shred...I heard that one was good. I"ve had a few stuck episodes...they seem to come and go. I am definitely eating way less than before the band and have more energy...just wish I could lose a little faster!! Everyone hang in there!
  2. Wow..my doctor must be the exception! We had so much information, there is no way a patient in that practice could not know what they were in for. We had an education seminar w/doctor, a nutrition class with a nutritionist, a one-on-one with nutritionist, a one-on-one with surgeon, an educational seminar at hospital, a support group meeting, and a quiz...yes, a quiz about the lapband and how it would work or not work...all mandatory before surgery! I actually think that has all helped me tremendously...with my expectations and with knowing how to "work" with my band!
  3. Thanks for the info, guys! I too am at 4cc in a 14cc band and feel pretty much no restriction. I am exercising and tracking my food, trying to follow the "bandster" rules, but haven't really lost anything since my fill on 12/27. Am so hoping my next fill will help a little (scheduled for 1/27). Thanks for the information and encouragement:)
  4. Dave, I totally agree with you. Fluffy: if you don't like the newbies questions, then don't post a reply. And, even though I've only been banded since November, one thing I know is that everyone's experience is different.
  5. Thanks for posting guys...it feels better to know this is "normal". Had my first fill of 4cc on 12/27...haven't really lost since then...just losing and regaining the same 2 pounds. I am exercising and eating right (although more than a cup). I feel like I could eat anything and am getting frustrated. Hopefully next fill at the end of January will help a little bit! Trying to be patient...
  6. I get banded on the 9th and am so excited! Thought I'd start this thread so we can support each other during the count down. Can't wait to start this phase of my life. I'm on day three of the optifast two week pre-op diet. I think if I can get through this, I can get through anything!!
  7. Hey LaShonda, we're on the same schedule...started my liquid pre-op today, getting banded on 11/9. Good luck!
  8. John, Way to go! Just keep hanging in there. You are doing great and inspiring us all! Just think, in the end, it will be so worth it!!:huh2: Mary
  9. Jguttery: thanks for being encouraging about the pre-op diet! I start mine tomorrow, get banded on Nov. 9th. Nervous & excited...
  10. Kim and Catherine, thanks for the great information. Catherine...I stumbled upon your blog and it was instrumental in helping me decide to go ahead with the lapband. My surgery is set for Nov. 9. I can't wait.
  11. Hey Va Viv and Taeboguy, I have the same surgical group as you and am scheduled for Nov. 9. I'm a little nervous about the pre-op diet, so it's good to hear about your experiences. Let's stay in touch!
  12. I wouldn't discuss it with them...you are not going to get their support. Look elsewhere for support...either online, your friends, or support group at the hospital where you're having the surgery.
  13. Hi! I am getting banded on November 9th! I am so excited, but also nervous! It will be great to have this as a support system with buddies to talk with! Good luck to everyone.
