Could you elaborate a little more B-52.

Hello all I just got my surgery date for Jan. 30th. and now i'm freaking out. Even though I researched this procedure for years prior to this point. Even though I did all the pre-op testing I guess I never thought I would get an actual surgery date or one that is so close. But I guess if I don't do it now I never will. The psychologist at the surgeons office said not to do a food bucket list because the band shouldn't stop you from eating the things you want you can just have them in smaller quantities but I hear such horror stories of people no longer eating things like steak or chicken or even eggs and I'm freaking out thinking i need to do a food bucket I haven't yet but i so want to. So tell me guys its not as bad as I think it is, is it.?

Just wondering if all the people who can't eat chicken are only eating drier white meat as opposed to juicer dark meat.

Congrats that is a great NSV. I hope to get there too someday. Its nice to see other guys on here posting their success I just finished all my pre op testing I am hoping to get banded in Jan/Feb. It would be great to not shop in the big and tall stores anymore.

Ok I got a topic. Has anyone who has lost weight with the lapband noticed that they don't use the bathroom as much. I am mainly talking about taking a piss. Does the weight coming off help with stress incontinence.?

Why do you lose you hair ? I never heard of that.

I have been overweight my entire life. Fat baby fat toddler kid pre teen teen young adult now adult I am tired of it. I'm doing the band o finally get the weight under control and give me a sense of fitting in better in all aspects of my life.

I felt the same way. But the physcogologist said not to do a food funeral or a food bucket list. She said why do that to yourself your just setting yourself up for failure; if you think you will never be able to eat certain foods again then you won't be able to. That's not what the band is about its about eating the same things as before just less of them. I know it sounds crazy to have to eat a steak or piece of chicken cut up like its for a toddler but isn't it better to do that with a great cut of steak then not have it at all. So I say no to the food bucket list.

why does rain or snow make the band tight?

I think in this situation it may be a good idea to also see a therapist along with working the band to help out with the mental aspect.

I am in the pre op testing phase and have over 100lbs to loose and I am getting the band; and I don't loose 100lbs and only loose 80 or 70 that a success too as long as the weight doesn't cone back.

Well does the wife mind?

Does it matter, does it get in the way, is it a turn off? How have you guys handled it and how have the partners handled it. Do you feel more self conscience with the loose skin?

Had my consultation appt. with him 2 weeks ago very nice man. I just made my pre op appts the other day. Looking forward to getting healthier and thinner.

I hate the nicknames big guy dude fella whatever. I am really getting to the point where I feel that that is what I am judged by. I hate it. I have always been a big guy I'm 6 feet 320 I have my Dr. consult on 7/29 I really hope after I get banded and loose the weight the names will stop. They never used to bother me but lately I really can't stand it. I am tall and have broad shoulders. By no means do I think the band is going to get me skinny and lanky I just want to be the thinest me I can be and just be Mike.

I definitely think there is some validity to this theory it would be great to really study this. It could change the way fills are done.

I once saw a post about this same thing. That persons solution was to have a glass of ice with his meal and he would only drink the amount that melted during the meal.

I am not going to be negative here. I do not have a band yet. I understand about your insurance and your choice of doctor. However if you are not pleased with the way you are being treated you should tell him and voice your concern you are the patient. Patients have rights.
