  1. PS: Dont go by my ticker. I forgot how to update it. But I am 30lbs down the last time I checked...abt a wk ago.
  2. 10 days post-op I had the same thing happen to me. I had drank some lemonaid (not sf) and came right up in the middle of me sleeping. It was this weird burning sensation and very slimy. That was the only time I ever threw up or slimmed. I called my dr the next morning and she prescribed me some Prevacid-take once a day. Your experience sounds like what I went through. Also my coridnator said that if you feel a tightness between your boobs that means youve eaten too much. I would call your dr and explain to them what happened. It sounds like acid reflux. I have never experienced anything like it before WLS and never want to feel it again! Hope it helps! PS I am 6wks out.
  3. Hey thanks!! It'll be 3wks on friday! It was tough at first. I stayed from fri-sun. Then 2hrs aft I left the hosp I was rushed back to the ER. Turns out I was too full and aft I burped I was better :) hehe..

But now I am doing better! Im down 17lbs. Since surgery and 22lbs since pre-op diet. :) Thanks for checking up on me! Its been hard but Im getting there!

    Getting Sleeved Young

Amber, I am 22 years old and I am having my surgery tomorrow morning (yea! .) This was a big decision for me but I knew that I had tried other ways to lose weight and couldnt. I am married, will be 3 year anniversary in 10days, and I have a 2 year old. I chose to get healthy for my daughter, my husband, and for myself. I am a student, and I do not drink or smoke. So if you dont have problems with those I think you will be fine. I chose to change my life right now. I have the rest of my life ahead of me and was tired of living an anti-social lifestyle. I was tired of avaoiding friends from high school and living in a bubble. I joined a gym and decided to exercise before WLS. Dont be desperate to want something so bad that you will do anything, especially if its not your only option. But if you've tried, and I mean REALLY tried to lose weight and you are ready to committ then I say you're not too young. We have our lives ahead of us at this young age..so lets make the most of it!
  5. Just wondering if I could get some words of wisdom or some encouragement. I decided to reach out to my "Family of Sleevers." I started my one week of pre-op all liquid diet on Fri March 11th. My surgery is March 18th. Since Ive been on the liquid diet, which consists of soups, protein shakes, sugar free pudding/jello, water, and juice. I have felt sooo sick to my stomach. I feel so sick right now as I am writing this. Ive been curled up on my couch all day. I dont feel well enough to really drink anything else. I keep feeling like I am about to throw up (TMI-I know). I feel very nauseated. =/ I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions as to feeling better? I will call my dr tomorrow to see if there are any other options. I dont know if my body is experiencing withdrawls or what. PLS help. Thank you!
  6. Thank you. I called my dr and she said that I was dehydrated. I started drinking more fluids and have been feeling better.

    Secret Sleevers

I am kind of confused as to why you would tell people your weightloss was due to being "diagnosed" wth hypothyroidism? I have hypothyroidism and that is exactly why I chose to get this surgery. Neither hypo or hyperthyroidism make you lose weight, and not drastically; I have been treated for both for over six years now. I just found that interesting that you would say that since the disease makes you do the exact opposite.

  12. Hello, I have been to two diff bariatric surgeons. I am in need to find a good dr. I have insurance so that is not a prob. Does anyone recomend a surgeon in the plano, carrollton, dallas tx area? I am tired of getting the run and around. I tried Dr nick from the Nicholson Clinic, and due to his rude and condescending office staff (Lisa) I will no longer be going to him. I had my heart set on him bc ive read such great reviews and he was extremely nice. But I do not tolerate ppl disrespecting me and bc of her I will not be using him =/ I am frustrated and sad. I need to find another dr and I just cant seem to find another one that is close, offers support groups, and great customer service. Ive been to seminar after seminar and quite frankly I am all burnt out from seminars. I just want to find a dr. Any help in this area would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks !!

    Any Novembers yet?

I am having my surgery Nov8th!!! Excited! It only took 1 week for my insurance to approve me. I wont have to do any testing. I got my surgery date yesterday. The only thing im nervous about is the removal of the drain. I had thyroid surgery in may of this year. They put a drain in my neck it felt so weird when the dr took it out, especially without warning. Lol, i know the drain is prbly the easiest to do with, but im a tad bit squeemish!! (<---spelling?) But nonetheless i am really excited. Start pre-op diet on monday!
  14. Okay, so I have just been approved for the sleeve (super BIG smile.) The nurse asked me when I wanted to start my pre-op diet and I told her as soon as possible!! She said I can start on Monday and scheduled my surgery appt for the 8th of Nov!!! Im soo excited. One of my sisters started buying me "small" clothes already as early Christmas presents. hehe I started my journey with a Seminar Sep25th. First consult w dr during the 1st week of Oct. I got my paper work sent to the insurance company last wed Oct13th & got approved by the insurance today, Oct 20th & got my surgery date today as well, Nov 8th. Im so happy!! It only took a week for my insurance company to approve me. I am also covered a hundred percent! I do not have to do any testings or psych evaluations or anything! Thank you Lord!!
  15. At first I was hell-bent on getting the lap band. I knew that I wanted weight loss surgery and the reason for getting the band for one, is that it is reversible. But after a discussion with the surgeon, Im starting to lean towards getting the VSG done. All for different reasons. Anyone on here who had previously bee banded and now have the sleeve? Or any views, concerns, knowlege, or insight abt the sleeve with personal or secondary experience? Thanks!!

    -58lbs side difference

WOW, you look great!! Very encouraging!!
  17. I am wanting to get the lap band done within a month from now. I havent yet seen a surgeon but I plan to make an appointment this week. I am somewhat anxious in getting it done and am wondering is there a waiting period From the time of my first consultation/dr appointment all the way to the date of surgery? If so, how long does the whole process take? Thnks!!!
  18. I am torn between two surgeons/clinics. I was wondering if anyone used Dr Nick in Plano tx or knows of anyone who has. Also, has anyone been to True Results Clinic or knows of anyone who has? I would just like some personal opinions as to what others experienced from either place. THANKS!
  19. Yeah I went to his seminar and he was really friendly. even stayed late to answer all of my questions. after your first consult when did you start your testing? was it in his office/clinic or did he send you somewhere?
  20. I had a surgery in may, so i met my deductable then. So my insurance is completely covering all my lap band fees. All I have to pay is $75 to the surgeon & $75 for the hospital stay. Im trying to get banded this year before january so I wont have to pay out of pocket expenses. Even my psych eval. is paid for. I have bc/bs tx (federal) they nurse said federal is one of the best insurances out there. They approved me right away. No long months of dieting and waiting! Im so thankful God has looked out for me!!
  21. thanks!! the only rush is my husbands availability to take off. i went for a consultation and i was approved right away from my insurance. my insurance covers everything, even testing. so they said the whole process from start of testing to surgery should take abt 4-6wks. my insurance didnt require a waiting period at all!!

    Alcohol with band?

I went in for a consultation last wk and they said that no on all carbinated drinks, i.e. champange, smirnoff, soda, bubbly, and even carbinated water. She also said no to beer, which is a given. But she said the reason you cant have carbinated drinks aft being banded is bc they create lots of gas & burping. hope this helps! I knw youre going to be looking good drinking your vodka/tonic in a 6!! I have a vision of being in a 6 wedding dress for when my husband and i renew our wedding vowels!! :crying:
  23. Wow, Ive been feeling the same thing. Wondering who I should tell in my life. But Ive only told two ppl (not including my husband) which are my mother and one sister. I decided to tell the people I talk to on a daily basis that I have a close intimate relationship with them. They are very supportive and non-judgemental. They are very understanding. Ive decided to hold off on telling my dad and my other older sister until aft the surgery, at a muchh later date. I dont want to hear any negativity and opinions from them or anyone else. Bc I know once I tell one friend, then theyll tell another and so on. Once I tell them, they will always know and always remember. And quite frankly, I dont think I owe ppl an explination. Which is what I know ppl will looking for, especially for those who dont approve. So for now anyway, Im just planning to tell ppl Ive been dieting and exercising, which is true!!
  24. Thanks for yalls help! I will be paying through my insurance. I called them and they said I am covered for Bariatric Surgery but I will have to do a psych evaluation. I was wondering should I go with a more popular surgeon, that way I know he is legit and good, and wait for availability? OR go with local (board certified of course) surgeon who's flexible with availability?
