  1. That's exactly how I feel. Zero appetite and suddenly want to exercise like it's second nature. It's really bizarre how it affected me. It IS like a switch. Wonder if anyone else feels the same?
  2. I just got Zumba for Xbox Kinect. Can't wait to try it!
  3. You are fabulous and should be so proud of your accomplishment. I can only hope that in seven months I am posting something similar. Way to go!
  4. I eat between 600-800 calories a day. I have to force myself to eat as I have zero appetite. I haven't had a fill yet and don't feel I need one. I just started exercising pretty hard so I am hoping to increase my calorie intake accordingly. I'm down 64 pounds in five months and feeling pretty good. I still have another 60 to go but I'm halfway there. I have so much more energy than before despite not eating much.
  5. I'm so excited for both of you starting this new journey to a healthy you. I'm five months out and (down 63 pounds) haven't regretted it for a moment. I know the idea of surgery is scary but it really is generally a simple procedure. I was home by 3:30 pm after my surgery which started at 12:30. There will be days where you think "What have a done?" but that will be fleeting. You can do this. Don't reschedule. It is completely normal to have fears about it but once you are losing and feeling better you will be writing this same message that I am writing to you to someone who is about to have surgery. I promise. Keep us posted.
  6. I have not had a fill, nor needed one. I was banded in December. I do recognize, however, that I am one of the very very lucky ones who don't experience hunger since being banded. You might be like me or you might have a tough time with hunger. It is very hard to predict.
  7. Jess, I thought ephedra was banned by the FDA. I think is illegal for it to be sold in the US since 2008 (or maybe 2006). Be careful with that stuff!
  8. Are you kidding, Jess?!?! That's definitely a number to be proud of!!!!!!
  9. Have you ever tried Welbutrin? It's not a diet pill, it is a depression med but it controlled my appetite well. It also is sometimes used to help people quit smoking. I can't remember the details but something about the mind/mouth connection is dulled and oral sensations like smoking kind of become forgotten. I forgot to eat many times when I was on Welbutrin.
  10. You don't need this drama! Just write the guy off. You don't owe him any explanation.
  11. You also might want to switch from whey Protein to soy if you are lactose intolerant.
  12. I eat pickles every day. I have no fill so I don't know if that's why I can or not. Kosher baby dills are my evening snack. I didnt eat then much before my band but now I crave them!
  13. I thought ice was better for bruises/inflammation, no?
  14. Lots of people do without problem. My only concern is that you might be going against your doctors orders on the very first day. Isn't broth included on your Clear liquids? If so, I wouldn't sweat the chicken noodle broth... Just stay away from the noodles. Glad you are feeling well enough to be out and about!
  15. I can't believe I about to say this but what if you filled the prescription but didn't actually take them? Could you be approved then? I've had depression for many many years and I am in therapy but don't medicate because it makes me an absolute zombie. Sure, it helps with the sadness but it also removes all joy out of life.
  16. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Just give it a bit more time. Try hard to not get discouraged.
  17. I swear... smaller clothes make all the difference! I usually lose some weight every day. Sometimes it is .1 of a pound, other times it is a full pound. My loss stalled for a couple of days and then the day before yesterday, I went shopping. I put on a pair of boyfit jeans in size 12 at American Eagle and they fit perfectly. So, I told myself that I must have been losing inches during the pound stall. I think the key was that I didn't get frustrated and give up where I would have on the hundreds of past attempts I have made to lose this weight. Just 5 months ago, I was in a size 22 jean. I am half way to my goal with no fill and feeling like I can actually do make it this time. I've never been thin - my parents put me on Nutrisystem at age 12 - it literally has been a life long struggle. I am so proud of all of us for sticking with it and giving ourselves what we deserve - a healthy life. Even when we falter, we get back on track. As I have said before, December 2010 Bandsters freaking ROCK!
  18. It's sounding like it is no good filled either! I am thinking the problem with your band might be in it's placement. Perhaps it wasn't put in the right place. I hope your new surgeon corrects the issues and misinformation of the old one. You deserve to have success.
  19. Oh man! I was hoping they would be able to save your band. Did they say what the infection was from? Has it been there since they installed your band?
  20. Yahoooooooo!!!! I love these kind of posts!
  21. I had an awful headache for the first few days after surgery. What worked for me was a small glass of juice. I was allowed protein shakes the day after surgery but I still had a headache.
  22. How would a fill hold a band in place unless it was so tight that it couldn't move? Sorry but that doesn't make any sense to me. I have no fill and my surgeon thinks that is fine. She is also a Center of Excellence surgeon.
  23. I'm sixty pounds down and was banded in December. I have not yet needed a fill and am hoping to never need one. Minimal post op pain and never had an issue with my band since. Sometimes you will find that people having problems with their bands are the ones that need to talk about it more. I mean what thread would I start "hey, everything is good, no advice needed!".
  24. It gets better every day. Just try to stick it out. I ate several sugar free Popsicles a day. I know you ate sick of sweet buy maybe cold and sweet might taste different. Best wishes!
