Two Weeks Post Op
Hang in there! You can totally do this, just use this site as your support system, you will love it here. Keep reading and you will see you are not alone. As for not telling anyone, I plan to do the same, besides my immediate family that is. You're right, it's nobody's business. You will succeed. Take care and hope to hear more from you. Becca

My Christmas PB
Yes Green sorry about the PB but I guess now you won't have fear of the unknown? maybe? I wouldn't know yet, but what I would like to know from others is that does it ever happen to the point of not being able to make it the bathroom and doing it in public? I'm a tad worried about that. Has that ever happened to any of you? Becca

Advice from you Bandsters!
Now why didn't I even think of booking a few days early and doing it first?! I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person but sometimes I have to wonder LOL. I just got caught up with "be there a day before surgery" and thats all I had in my head. Oh well, flights are all booked and it would cost too much to change. I will just see how I feel and go from there, I won't force myself to do anything if I'm not feeling up to it but I thank you all for your comments. You guys are the best! Becca

Gaf, I'm wondering if Dr.Cobourn will be sending me for my fills to Dr.Mitch in Calgary. I don't know if he's trained anyone in Edmonton yet, I know he said he was going to. I don't mind the drive though.- Advice from you Bandsters!
I am flying from Edmonton to Missisauga to have my surgery the day before my appt. Is it to ambitious to plan a trip to Niagra Falls the day after my surgery? Will I be in that much pain or that uncomfortable to make it not worth it? I have always wanted to go there and I thought since being in the area with DH and DD that we might be able to make a trip of it. I will not book anything in advance just in case but I do really want to go. Do I sound a tad crazy? From what I read, some people are in lots of pain after and some are fine, I wonder what the difference is? I would just plan to go for one night and then be back in Missisauga for my follow up appt the day before I fly out. Let me know what you guys think.:girl_hug: Becca- new here from australia
Welcome to LBT! Congrats on your loss so far. Looking forward to hearing from you more.- Greetings from Canada
Janice I feel for you, I'm in the same situation (being in Alberta). I chose to go with Dr.Cobourn and take a loan out to pay for it. I will be working my a** off to pay for it but it will be worth it in the end. Good luck.- Back in the Water
I have also been trying to think of things to do to occupy mind instead of focusing on food. I was thinking of trying a new hobby or taking a class or something just to distract my mind. Anybody have any good ideas, besides the obvious one which is excercise!- Mookie's news.
Congrats Mookie! You must be thrilled, your date is just around the corner!- Ontario Clinics
Janice, welcome to LBT, if you keep reading around on this site you will find tons of info. There are quite a few people who do the out of province thing, I will be one of them. I live in Edmonton and I am going to be banded by Dr.Cobourn. From what I have read there hasn't been anyone with too many problems with follow up care. Good luck! Becca- 2 days since surgery
Hey Kay, how have you managed to lose 26lbs already? Was that from a pre op diet?? Congrats! Becca- Just been referred for the surgery!
Louise, I'm in the same boat. I will also be banded mid Feb, Valentines day to be exact. I am so excited and cannot wait! I have found this site to be the absolute best. Everybody is great about answering questions and the support is unbelievable. Now I can't imagine being without the people here!! I have learned so much and feel that I am ready. I am also self paying, 16,000 dollars to be exact (Canadian dollars). But I can't think of a happier way to spend my money! I would like to lose exactly 100lbs. Welcome and I hope we can share more. Becca- Back in the Water
Ohhhhhhhhh a tub to soak in, what a nice thought! Are you putting it indoor or outdoor Gaf? I'm sure she'll be thrilled!- Sabotage!
Kynekke, that is sooooo my mother too. My mom put me on a diet when I was 6 years old and always restricted what I ate. But then she would offer me treats like it was forbidden fruit. I thought she was just feeling sorry for me but now I realize that my mom also has an "unconscious" eating disorder that she will never admit to. She was never overweight till post menopause but food has always ruled her life as it does mine. I think I can identify with the emotions.- Argon's Activities
Have a safe trip Mandy, hope Santa is good to you.- Should I be nervous ? II
Has it really been easy Edie? My surgery is coming up and my worst fear is that I won't be successful. I am very motivated to do this and I want to give it my best, I'm self paying, so I have alot invested in this. Do you have cravings and how hard is it to stick to a "healthy" eating plan?? You have done awesome, congratulations, I hope to be as successful as you one day.- Bandster Wannabe from the "frozen north"
Welcome Priscilla, I too am from up "north" where its very cold. I will also be doing the opti-fast so we'll have to keep each other going. This is a great place to be, the people are awesome and will answer everything you need to know. See you around.- Pregnancy & Lap Band
I am in the same situation, I went through this and decided for myself that I will have the procedure first, then get pregnant. I think most doctors agree that this is the healthy way as it is easier to get pregnant when you are a healthy weight.- Argon's Activities
Wheezy, I work in the chemistry department, I've been a tech for 7 years now and I love it so far minus the night shifts.- Negative People
Exactly the reason why I have decided not to tell anyone except my husband, that was a big decision for me to make but now I am glad after reading here.- 2 days since surgery
Congratulations you guys, and good luck!! Thanks for posting, it really is informative to hear how you are all doing.- My Life as a Bandster
