  1. Where are you coming from? I know I live up about 45 minutes north of San Francisco and so I leave about 1 1/2 hours before an appt just to make sure. I have a pre op appt with Dr. Le on the 23rd. I'm nervous. He wanted me to lose 10 lbs and I just haven't been able to. Truthfully not eating so great. I have 10 days left, so will knock out some exercise. I've had a bum knee, a horrible cold, and was diagnosed with sleep apnea, so haven't been doing too great. Just so I haven't gained. I don't think I have. My home scale says I haven't. Hopefully I'll find out some news at that appt. I'm really looking forward to getting the surgery and moving on with my life. I want to get rid of this sleep apnea too.
  2. Aloha everyone. I just want to say how bummed out I am. I found out yesterday I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. I need to go get treatment and surgeon said I have to be on treatment for 2 months before considering surgery. Reason being, while sleeping, your body heals and I'm not getting enough sleep to heal properly. I'm totally depressed about it. It just feels like a giant road block. I would have rec'd my surgery in November. Now I have to wait until probably January. I'll keep posting my progress. Just today I'm super super bummed. Lisa
  3. You will go through the process quick. I will find out about my surgery date after I meet the surgeon again. He wanted me to lose another 10 lbs and I've lost 2. I'm having a hard time so I'm really going to be mindful the next two weeks.
  4. Eric, I am going through South San Fran as well. How far along in the process are you? I had my orientation 9/14. I have been through all the steps except pre op orientation. I am meeting with surgeon on the 26th of this month again to set have a check up and then should get a date after that. I have decided on the sleeve. Have you met with the surgeon or gone through any other classes? :Lisa
  5. My doctor at South san Fran is Dr Le and he told me to lose another 10 lbs. So far I'm down 2. I need to buckle down. I have 8 to go before October 26th.
  6. That is neat about the different way of doing the surgery with only 2 incisions. How do you feel? You got the sleeve done? Dr. Alamani seems like a great doctor. I'm assigned to Dr. Le. Who is very nice. How are you feeling?
  7. I think I'm getting the hang of this website. It's been great just reading everyone's stories and experiences. :tongue_smilie:
  8. That is a great idea. I am going to take measurements.

    Awesome job. Keep it up.
  10. It's good your husband is supporting you in that way. Mine is in denial. But be strong and think of the end result. Keep it up. Aloha~
  11. Hm as for the ticker thing, I guess you have to cut and paste every time you post? Or perhaps you can put it in your signature. I'll have to check that out.
  12. Hi there. I think it just varies with each individual. I was a BMI of 40 to begin with, so I don't have much to lose before the surgery and the surgeon just might want to make sure I can. I don't know. I feel ready though. I just want to keep talking about people's experiences with the surgery....good or bad. I'm excited
  13. Hi there. Dr. Le just told me to lose 10 lbs by Otober 27. he didn't tell me how, although a protein shake in the morning would certainly be a great change to the string cheese, yogurt, pb and toas, and fruit t I have every day. Haha. I am not very innovative. I change up the fruits I eat and have egg whites for protein, but I forgot about the protein shakes. Did he schedule your surgery yet? I think I am ready.
  14. Aloha everyone. I just found this sleeve site yesterday. I live in Petaluma. I was referred to South San Fran to bariatrics for my surgery. I went through orientation, ekg, blood tests, met with nurse, psychiatrist Dr. Russell, and surgeon Dr. Le. I will take a sleep apnea test on Wednesday night. Although I don't think I have it. I was so into having the band until I talked to Dr. Le. He says I weigh less then some of the receptionists that work there, but nonetheless, I qualify for the surgery because of high bp and high cholesterol meds. I started on the 14th of September at orientation with a weight of 219.2. I'm down to 212.5. I'm 5'2.5" with a BMI of 40. He wants me to lose another 10 lbs by October 27. He asks since I "only have about 80 lbs to lose" if I could do this on my own. NO, that's why I'm here. I've tried everything and failed and can only get passed 20 lbs. I told him I was interested in the band, but he said, "Honestly he's not impressed with Band and there have been problems with it and said guaranteed it wouldn't last a lifetime, that'd I'd be back. " he said there are lots of slips with the port and some slippage. He suggested the sleeve. Since Wednesday's meeting with him, I have been on Kaiser's site and watched the EMMI video about the sleeve (actually watched videos for all three surgeries they offer). I have researched online and found some gals to chat with. I've emailed people and checked out different forums. I am definitely ok with the sleeve. And I'm definitely ready for this change. I emailed Dr. Le and asked when a surgery would take place and he said in November. So I think the process has come along rather speedily. The only person I wish would understand is my husband. I guess maybe in time. Thanks for listening. Hope to chat.
  15. Hope all goes well. Let us know how it went.
