    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Hi all, I'll be getting my sleeve on November 9th. Excited and scared!
  2. I never used to get sick with colds or flu before, and I have had a cold or flu at least 3 times since my surgery in Aug! Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, any ideas?? I am eating protein, taking a multivitamin everyday and still continue to get sick...
  3. Maybe you are coming down with something? I have been getting sick a lot more than I used to....seems to be something in the air :-( Hope you feel better soon!
  4. Hi Erin I think if you just make a little more effort to prepare that you will have better results. I often don't have time to fix myself Breakfast, but I make sure I have something that I can throw in my purse. Things like a Protein bar, or some string cheese, even a piece of fruit will keep you from starving. You can eat something on the way to school or on a break. Even a little bit will help. You didn't say if you have restriction, or what you are eating when you do eat.... It also sounds like you may be a little depressed, and beating yourself up a bit. You are very young, and I remember being in your shoes at the same age. I was young, overweight and depressed. I didn't have the option of a LAP-BAND® though, so please realize how lucky you are to have been able to get that kind of help. Now you need to push yourself a little bit and work what you got :-) I think that if you just take one small step at a time, you will realize that you have the power and can make this work for you. Take a few minutes and write down the things that you need to do for yourself. Just start working on one at a time, it will lead to the next and the next. Maybe you can find a friend to exercise with. Or just go for a walk every other day. Just put one foot in front of the other, and the next time will be easier. Listen to music and just dance for 15 minutes. You will feel better about yourself every time you push yourself a little. Please make sure to get yourself some Protein Bars or something portable that you can take with you in the morning so you aren't starving by the time you can eat. I have to agree with what Cheri said, I had to wait until I was 55 to get my band. Don't waste your life letting your weight hold you back. Strive to be as healthy as you can be, and you will have a wonderful quality of life. But no matter what your weight, always make an effort to love yourself. Be the best you can be, for yourself, for those who love you now and for those who will love you in the future.... Good Luck to you, beautiful girl :frown:
  5. I'd say you are very much so a success story, and you look wonderful!! I enjoyed reading your post, and I'm really glad you didn't stop this time. You make a lot of good points and I can only pray that I can get to the place where you are now. I can't imagine my life not revolving around food. I just got my 2nd fill and I finally have restriction, but I keep eating too fast and getting stuck. It's only been a week, but I've gotten stuck almost every day since the fill. I am going to bookmark your post, or better yet print it out, so I can read it for motivation.....thanks again! Tracy

    I'm here to help...

I am 7 weeks out with very little restriction. I am trying so hard to eat the right things, but I find that I am eating more and more like I did pre-band. Just got back from Vegas where my family all went to a buffet each night. I think I did good, but I am not losing weight! I am so afraid that I am going to stretch my pouch too....Any tips? Thanks, Tracy

    Yay, first fill!!

So glad to hear that! I am scheduled for my 1st fill on Wednesday the 1st. Feeling a little nervous, but I'm more than ready for restriction! Keep up the good work

3 months out and no loss

I can't really help as I am only 1 month post-op and haven't had a fill yet. I will say though, that I haven't lost much since my surgery either and also feel like I can eat pretty much anything. I sat myself down just last night and really took a hard look at what I have been eating since back on solid foods, and realize that I am not making the best choices. (not terrible, but not the best) Just because we feel that we can eat anything, doesn't mean we should be! I am just speaking from my own experience, since you didn't say if you are following a post op diet. Maybe you should do as I did and really look at what you are eating, and maybe you can make some changes there. Hopefully you will get to your sweet spot sooner than later. I am looking forward to my first fill Sept 1st! Good Luck, Tracy
  9. My Dr's instructions say it's ok to drink coffee "as tolerated" According to the nut. they are concerned about irritation of the stomach that caffeine could cause. I started drinking 1/2 regular and 1/2 decaff at about 2 weeks out, with lots of ff milk and splenda. I've found that I love iced coffee made the same way, in a big cup with lots of ice and I put a scoop of vanilla Protein powder in there too. Lasts all day, if I replenish the ice when it melts. Yummy!
  10. Oh wow, that is awful! I hope everything straightens itself out and you are feeling better soon. Let us know how it goes. Tracy

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks Cheri, I fully expect not to be able to eat bread once I have my fill, but for now I am able to eat it, especially since I started taking smaller bites and chewing things well. I don't eat a lot of it though. I am being very careful to get my protein in as well. I have never pb'd, and only got stuck a couple of times but when I waited a few seconds it went down. I can assure you that I did not get this band put inside me with the thought that it would make the weight just fall off. I know I have to work hard for results and that the band is just a tool. I do appreciate your concern and helpful ideas, but I'm cool. Thanks again!

    Stuck on soup?

"Also that there is Fluid in my band now and that maybe they need to take some out." I was under the impression that they left the band empty when they put them in. Have any of you all had fluid in the band at surgery? Tracy

Still Suffering after Traumatic Band Removal

Wow, what an awful experience! Were you feeling bad before this all started? Had you reached goal weight? You say you had a tummy tuck, how long before all this happened did you get it? I really hope you will be able to get this last problem sorted out, and so happy that you have the support of a loving husband. Don't give up the fight, it sounds like you have a good Dr who cares about you and wants to help you. Good luck to you, Tracy
  14. That makes no sense to me.....are you sure she wasn't an imposter? There are tons of people one here who have lost WAY more than 20%, That's just strange.... Tracy

    Banded today all by myself!!!

Good for you girl! I kind of wish I hadn't told anyone, because now everyone is looking me up and down to see if I'm losing. Jeez, it's only been 3 weeks, gimme a break Tracy
  16. I left it up to my Dr and he chose the newest incarnation of the Lap Band for me. I was banded July 27th 2010, 3 weeks ago :-)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey Bandpal, thanks for the warm welcome. I am most definitely in bandster hell! I am working my way through though and hoping that my band healed well. My post-op diet was 1 week of liquids and 1 week of mushies and then I was able to go to a regular diet. I have been slowed down by the band for sure, have gotten stuck on bread a couple times and on corn tortilla once. I had to stop and wait and wait until it finally went down. I guess you could call that restriction of sorts. Of course I can pretty much eat all I want as long as I go slow! I have always been a volume eater and the past few years it seems like eating has been an all-consuming pastime for me. It's kind of a relief to have the craziness taken away. I do feel the boundaries, in the faint distance, and am excited for them to get closer, lol. Congrats on your awesome weight loss, that is great! And wow, good on you for posing in your underwear and posting it! woohoo! I could never do it
  18. I am following my WW plan from before, emphasizing the Protein. I am loosing but very, very, slowly! Waiting patiently Thanks for the advise, I'll take any and all

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

So good to find this thread! I was banded on July 27th and am scheduled to have my 1st fill on Sept 1st. I can't wait, as I am daily getting more and more of the hungries! I wait it out as much as I can and I am basically following my WW points diet to try to at least maintain my 16 lb weight loss. I am trying to be patient, but it's hard. I want restriction! I am so happy to have it to look forward to though, I feel as though there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel! :cursing: Tracy
  20. Hey all, I'm Tracy and I live in Corona, CA. I was banded on July 27th and I'm currently in Bandster HELL! Come'on fill! Any advise to get through it?
  21. Yeah, I agree with calling your Dr. You could really set yourself up for infection if you bathe with open wounds. Good Luck!
  22. I have been able to swallow my Prozac capsule since day 2. I am having trouble with the Tricor caplet though. It is a bit larger and the 1 time I took it it got stuck and I felt it there for hours. Needless to say, I haven't taken it since! I should probably mention that I haven't had a fill yet. I was banded July 27th :-)

    Any July Bandsters??

Hi Debbie, I was banded on July 27th, and I didn't have a hernia repair. I am also very sore on the left side though so I would say it's from the port. Hope you continue to do well! Tracy
