  1. I can't get ahold of my doctor's office, but I've been on a new medication lately that has made me sleep a lot the last week. So my pinched nerve in my back flared up and when that happens the pain usually wraps around my stomach. But I haven't had it happen since I got the band- not this bad anyway. So the last day I've been feeling this major pain in my chest/stomach areas and I vomited once this morning because I ate too fast trying to get out the door and it hurt really really bad. I don't know if it's from the pinched nerve or a slip. I know no one can tell me obviously what it is. But can anyone tell me please what a slipped band feels like? Thanks

    ONEDERLAND!!! And Then Some!!!

Congrats! That's great! I was in the exact same place- stuck at 203 for like a month and a half and then got the right fill and now I'm at 195 too!!! Yay!
  4. I had the dry heaves and was vomiting yesterday. Think it's the onset of the flu. Now my stomach is killing me. It woke me up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain. And today it's really really sore. I don't know if it's my band or if it's slipping or what. It's right in the smack center of my abs and it's really painful. Anyone know what I'm talking about and do you think that it slipped? Please help me I'm scared! What if I vomit again? Thanks.

    Need a buddy

Hey everyone, looking for a buddy who is around my age. I'm 26 and will be 27 in October. Just got banded and I don't mind if you are a new bandster or not, just want someone who I can email on a regular basis who understands some of this because no one in my life has any understanding of what I'm going through. -Caity

    Too tight?

How do I know it's too tight or if it's just swelling? Because normally my recovery time varies. I've never had an entire CC put into my band at once, it's usually only a 1/4 or 1/2 but the nurse and I agreed that I wanted to be more aggressive because I am stuck at my weight and still too hungry. Well, Water goes down fine but then yesterday (day after fill) I could only have two bites of applesauce and some green tea and sugar free popsicles. Today, I tried solids (stuuupid)- some cheese- and now even tea comes up. I've vomited so many times since my fill because the first day I kept trying things like milk and stuff and the second day because I ate too much applesauce. I don't know if it's because the band is too tight or if it's because I've been vomiting so much that I'm just swollen. I'm sticking to water for the rest of the day, to see if that helps, but I'm wondering if it just comes down to the band being too tight. Advice?

    In Limbo Here....HELP!

Seriously, this is hard, but keeping a detailed food diary, subbing your Breakfast or lunch with a no carb shake and exercising daily will help so much. When I was pre-surgery I was on a liquid diet consisting purely of Protein shakes and I lost 20 pounds in a week and a half without even working out. Then I got the band, stayed on the diet for a week before mushies, and then I started exercising (walking) and I lost another 20 pounds within a month and a half. Just my suggestion. You can do this without the band until you actually get the band. The band changed my life, my mindset and erased my hopelessness but the actual weight loss came from me and my lifestyle changes. Hope that helps you all. Email me if you need support.

    What can I do?

Wow, so I feel stupid. I went in for my second fill yesterday. I had 2 cc's in me before and he added 2 more. It was too tight and I didn't want him to take any out because I had had NO resistance before but I couldn't keep Water down so I asked him to take out only half a cc. It was going down but coming back up, so I figured I only needed to have a little out. I live an hour and a half away from my doc and was stopping by the office on my way home from an out of town visit to a sick family member and was thinking about that, worried about hitting traffic, and like I said, I didn't want him to take any more out because I have been really wanting resistance and didn't want to go all the way home without getting any. So he said to drink the whole water bottle but I didn't of course because I was preoccupied and the water seemed to be going down and not coming up after slowly drinking a third of the bottle. A half hour later it came back up and ever since then I have been burping and/or vomiting slime every half hour to hour. I can't drink anything. Obviously, it's too tight. My question is, will it get better when the swelling goes down or is that just stupid to hope for? Can the band slip from my light vomiting? I mean, there's very little abdominal flexion when the slime comes up but I'm still worried. I should have drank the whole bottle of water.... I just can't believe how dumb I was to rush out of there without waiting the proper amount of time. What can I do to help this situation or do I just have to suck it up and drive back to the doctor today and get it loosened?

    What can I do?

Oh I'm doing sooo much better thanks for asking. The other doc's office took out .75 and now I'm doing well. Learned my lesson though.

    What can I do?

Thanks, I made an appt with a closer doctor and I go in to see him in an hour. I am peeing but can't keep sips down at all. I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 4 pounds in water. At least I can see someone in my area for today and then go back to my regular doc next month.
  13. I had my first fill on Tuesday. Hunger wise I feel I have no restriction. I went off mushies yesterday and was ok but then today I had to vomit a tiny bit and have a few PB to get stuck soft food out of me. Now I feel everything going down including mushies like yogurt- it's uncomfortable going down. Is it that the band is just now "kicking in"? Because I read somewhere on the forum that sometimes it takes a few days to feel the fill. But like I said I still have a normal hunger as though I could eat and eat. So I guess I'm wondering if it's normal for food to still be getting stuck 4-5 days after the fill. My doc is 2 hours away so it's a pain to go see him, so I'm hoping I don't need an unfill and I can go back on liquids for a couple days. I'm hoping I just rushed things too quickly.
  14. wannaBLean

Need unfill or is this normal?

Thank you both. It turned out that I was just eating too fast even though I thought it was slow. I slowed down a looooot and I haven't had any problems since.
  15. The best shakes I've found to be are the Bariatric Advantage brand shakes or the Isopure which is my favorite. I mix the zero carb one with Water or skim milk and it's good. it's a vanilla flavor but the bariatric advantage ones have all different flavors like coffee or strawberry etc. I was told the same thing, but I've heard salads or ok just not with stringy vegetables or with carrots. I also heard nuts of any kind are a no no. It sucks when you first hear of all the restrictions but then over time you stop thinking of them that way and you just avoid them because you have to and it's not a big deal anymore.
  16. Good recipes to Help You Enjoy Your LAP-BAND Journey | LAP-BAND® Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home (got this one from someone else here) And there are weight loss surgery cookbooks out there too. I have one and it's great. I didn't do any of that until after the surgery though- when I got to my mushy stage and I would cook the food and then puree it in the blender or food processor. Pre-surgery I just did vanilla, chocolate or strawberry Protein shakes mixed with skim milk or Water, chicken broth, and V-8. It suuucked! lol
  17. Congrats!!! You should lose the 10 pounds, I lost 14 by following the instructions. But they said they will still do the surgery if I didn't as long as I lost some because I was all paranoid that I wouldn't lose all 10 pounds.

    Eat before fill?

I have my first fill tomorrow. I forgot to ask the doc if I can have anything to eat or drink before the fill. Is it done on an empty stomach?
  19. I think that's pretty good. I only had to pay I think 10-20% but no more than 1000 and they ended up covering the whole thing.

    Favorite Go-To Foods?

So I'm having a hard time being creative and I don't ever know what to eat now that I'm off mushies. I am a carb addict so I'm running out of things to eat other than chicken. Any suggestions? What's your "go-to" meal that you eat all the time or whenever you can't decide what to eat? Someone please help and recommend some good things I can eat all the time! Thanks in advance.
  21. I just signed up and will start tomorrow as well. Woohoo!
  22. I'll do it with you!!

    Stuuuupid thyroid!

Oh noooo! I'm so sorry, that's so crappy. Best wishes and I hope that it all works out. Is there anything you can do?
  24. I have the Bariatric Advantage brand Protein shakes now- bought from their website, also you will need Multivitamins and skim fat free milk makes the shakes easier to tolerate. Otherwise it's real thin and hard to drink all the time. I prefer the Isopure zero carb Protein Shakes though and intend to go back on those afterwards. It's better as far as carbs and fat and stuff goes and I liked the taste a tad better. Bout the same price too. I also recommend V-8 and soy milk. Oh and I have this cookbook which I used and pureed the food during my mushy stage: Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery, Patt Levine M.D., Book - Barnes & Noble I thought the recipes were tasty though I've only made a few of them so far- and they tell you how much to puree for the lapband or for gastric bypass etc. I have a Blender Bottle and use it every day! It's so easy to make the protein shakes with and is easy to just rinse out real quick afterwards and let drip dry- rather than a blender or spoon to stir with. Otherwise, nothing else comes to mind. Congratulations by the way!
