  1. Oh Chubbola!! You can do it!! Yes, that is weird and I'm sure it's frustrating, but just be happy your insurance will cover it at all and you're not a self-payer like me!
  2. Yes, it's frustrating when you KNOW you've been working out, the clothes fit better, yet the scale isn't moving!! When I can look back at those measurements I'll know I am making progress!! I really didn't do too bad with the "last meal pig out syndrome". I did have some of my husband's birthday cake and a piece of broasted chicken for lunch today, but nothing too crazy. I do wish I would have gotten a plate of Pasta in, but oh well, Lord know's I've had enough of them!
  3. What is the Moose Butted association?? (laughing) I can't wait to see how well we do this year!! It's SOOOOO exciting!
  4. Hi all!! Monday 1/15 is the start of my pre-op diet. I just need to do low carb/high Protein for 10 days to shrink my liver. I am very excited... My hubby and I took before pics and wrote down all our measurements earlier this evening. Even though he is not getting a band (doesn't need it) he hopes to piggy back off mine and lose his lovehandles! I came upon a fortunate surprise yesterday. They had a Mind, Body, Spirt seminar in my town. I went and one of the local hospitals was doing free checkups! I got stats on my weight, bmi, body fat content, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol! Besides the fact that I am slightly MO and 1/2 fat (50%!!!!!) I am pretty healthy. Everything else was in optimal to normal ranges! Yay me! I am glad I have this baseline to see just how healthy I become after being banded - not just the numbers on the scale!
  5. Chat room technical issue??? One night, it said that there were 32 people in the LBT lounge, when I went to chat, no one was there. It happened again last night. Right now... it says there are 70 people using the chat rooms and it has my screen name listed as one of them, only I am not logged into the chat room. I think there may be a technical issue or something....
  6. I have had the same thing. One night, it said that there were 32 people in the LBT lounge, when I went to chat, no one was there. It happened again last night. Right now... it says there are 70 people in the chat room and it has my screen name listed as one of them, only I am not logged into the chat room. I think there may be a technical issue or something....
  7. Hey oldgieser... That's actually kind of funny that you are from Hayward, since that is where my lapband journey kind of began.. I was on my family's annual fall fishing trip on Lake Namakageon when I saw my first lap band commercial on TV. I couldn't wait to get home to log on and research it!!
  8. I am not banded yet, but I think when I get really close to my goal I am going to join Weight Watchers and get that darn "lifetime membership" that has eluded me all these years!!! They owe me, darn it! tee hee!!!
  9. Hi All! Just checking in. I have been in Milwaukee for the past 4 days. I live in a small town in Northern WI, so when I get to the 'big city" it's like coming out of a cave! Went a little crazy shopping. Didn't do too bad eating, but still ate a bit too much since we ate out three meals a day. I start my preop diet Monday. Yee haw! I am also starting a new job tomorrow! I haven't worked in 15 months, but the opportunity presented itself, so I took it. Back to the business world! Yes, I am crazy, new job, banding... yikes! Yay for Marjon, headin' to Denver! I can't believe your day is almost here! It went by so fast!
  10. I am doing well. I have all of my shopping complete - pre and post op food/supplies. I have verified that I can continue taking the meds that I am currently on (just gotta crush 'em), travel arrangments are complete and I have a suite at the kennel reserved for my Ozzy (that's the dog, not my husband) . I have my first fill scheduled for 3/5, and I'll be booking my airfare for that shortly. I speak with the nutritionist on Monday 1/8. Mentally, I think I am prepared. Sheila
  11. Yes, that's true! I am just having flashbacks to how bad I felt physically after having my baby... 2 hours of pushing, combined with all the meds, was NOT good for the backside. I am sooo scared of getting constipated and having painful poopies!! Sorry for being so graphic, but seriously, that is what I am most afraid of!! Hopefully I can get enough Fiber in me to not worry.:cry
  12. cinward, Thanks for telling it to us like it is. I love to hear these types of stories. Congrats on size 12! Someday...someday.....
  13. Hi Deb I, too am from Wisconsin. I will be banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. www.lapbandrockies.com $9950.00. I will have my follow up care with Dean Care in Madison. I think they will do your band for around $13,000.00.
  14. 6 fills and no restriction? I am a prebander so this kind of scares me. Have you ever had your band looked at? Is there a leak?
  15. Shesha replied to Poodles's topic in The Lounge
I am reading this, preband. It's so true regarding sizes. LB is the worst. I always try on 2 of an identical item and size because one will always fit better than the other. I actually thought about this yesterday. I think when I hit goal, I will look for the services of a stylist.. ala... t.v's "What Not To Wear". I like nice clothes, and tend to dress in classic conservatives and mostly black. But, one thing I've noticed is that no matter what my size (22 or 14) I wear the same type of clothes.... It's just a weird rut you get into. I think stepping out of your comfort zone (both in what you like and what you feel comfortable in) and getting an honest, unbiased opinion, is a good thing. You might look good in a V-neck or an A-line, but if you don't try it, you may never know. What looks good on you at a size 22,(and when you were age 22) might not look good on you in a size 16 at age 40.
  16. Thanks Edieday! I wish you all the best as well!! I'll be thinkin' of ya!
  17. What's the word on the carrot??? quote=mystique32;354091]what about hot drinks often ..maybe it soften a little...clear broth sipped often might help ??geez i dont know but il be praying for you it goes through without much trouble.are you able to eat anything ??? maybe whenever you eat something now it will push it through. good luck
  18. I can tell you that the Midwest Bariatrics in Neenah www.mwbariatric.com Also does fills for patients that were banded elsewhere (I think they, too shy away from people that were banded in mexico) They offer a package deal... one year of fills, support meetings and dr's fees (for the fills)12 of each, I guess for $2,000.00. I'd try Dr. Kemmerling. Please let me know what you find out. Thanks
  19. I did everything over the phone. He has his consult with you on the phone and I guess then decides if you need further testing. I didn't. I meet with the nutritionist on 1/8 to go over the preop and post op diet. He asks to meet with you the day before surgery to talk to you, get to know you, and give you some prescriptions that you'll need for after the surgery. Then, you need to stay in Denver 24 hours after surgery, just to be close to him incase anything weird happens, I guess. I am going back to him for my first fill (he only charges $15.00) and just to have him look at my tummy to make sure everything's peachy! For follow up, I will be going to Dean Care in Madison. They charge $250.00 for the initial visit and $125.00 for fills. I was going to try Dr. Kemmerling, but Mary (?) and I played phone tag and I never found out if he would do my fills for me. I'll bet since you already did so much with him, he'd do your aftercare. Ssince you are already so far along (mentally prepared), I'll bet you could get your band this month yet...or at least early Feb. I think I saw another posting where she just scheduled her phone consult today with Dr. K for 1/16.
  20. Yes, I am sure they will fly by. I just wish it was over already, so I can stop worrying and start losing. So many things to think about, travel, the flight, the anesthesia, the pain, the gas, the constipation!!!! ugh. Thank goodness I am already on anti-anxiety meds. :biggrin1:
  21. oooohhh a date! Have fun!!! Let us know how it goes..
  22. Ok Marjon and VABandster!! You are making me jealous. I have 10 days until my preop diet starts.. (same as the two of you) and 21 days 'till I get my band!! However, I did have grilled salmon at Tony Roma's today.. yummy.. =o) (had to get you somehow..:biggrin1:
  23. Yes, changes like that take some adjusting. It's a new year, and it sounds like you are off to a good start, having taken the eating 101 class. You'll be losing again in no time! Keep us posted. (btw.. I am not from CO, but I am getting banded there... )
  24. Hello fellow Wisconsinites!! Yay on a Badger win today!! Here's to a lighter and successful year for all of us!
  25. Good luck to everyone as the January Banding begins! I have a few weeks yet 'till banding, but I have been slowing 'hunting for and gathering' all the pre-op and post-op items that I'll need. A little about myself... I am 32, married and have a toddler daughter that I am blessed to be able to stay home with. I also have a little maltese dog that keeps me busy as well. I have been heavy all my life, but I never let it get me down. I was athletic through high school, which helped keep my weight down. During college came the parties, and a few more pounds. I've lost weight several times with the help of weight watchers and/or exercise, only to put it back on and then some. I didn't gain too much weight with the birth of my daughter, but it was enough to launch me into the serverly obese category and onto bandland... :girl_hug: I am hoping the band will be the tool that I need take the weight off AND keep it off! I have told my husband, sister and two close friends that I am getting this done. Everyone has been real supportive, which is great! Here's to a new me!
