    unlatched band

I have no restriction in my band. After talking to my surgeon he said it sounded like an erosion. When I got an x-ray it clearly showed that my band was not latched. I asked my surgeon before the x-ray if it could be unlatched and he said there was no way. After we both saw that it was he said it was the first time he had ever seen it. It will be an easy surgical fix to go in and latch it back together. I'm just glad that I get to keep my band and start loosing weight. I couldn't find any other information about a band being unlatched. I don't know if it was never latched in the first place or if it became unlatched over time. Has this happened to anyone else?
  2. I have a 2 month old baby and just had a revision 2 days ago. I'm exclusively breastfeeding. My surgeon said it was okay to breastfeed right after waking up from the anesthesia and that only a tiny amount from the pain meds would go to the baby. I have felt really great and was able to get up in the night and feed my baby the same day as my revision. I have only taken the minimum pain meds and not very often. It has been so much easier than I expected. I can tell that my milk supply is about half what it used to be, but it seams like my baby is getting enough. I'm supposed to be on clear liquids for a week, but have already added in some creamy soups to make sure I have enough liquid and calories for my baby.

    Banded while breastfeeding?

I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 2 month old baby and just had a revision 2 days ago. My doctor did not put me on a pre-op diet. Before my revision I had a very abundant milk supply (I could probably have feed twins). But since the surgery I have noticed my milk supply has gone way down. I'm drinking like crazy to keep hydrated, but have already had to start some creamy soups to keep satisfied. My baby seams to have just barely enough. I think that once I add in soft foods my supply will go up.
  4. I've had 2 babies with the lap band. I had the first baby about 2 years after getting my lap band. After he was born I had a revision because of a slip. It was only 4 months after the revision that I got pregnant with my 2nd baby. My lap band did not cause any problems during pregnancy. Follow what you doctor has told you, but my experience was that pregnancy goes very well with the lap band. I'm 30 years old.
  5. I had a baby in September 2008 and am having a similar experience. I'm not restricted at all and can eat large quantities and am fine all day. At night I get severe heartburn. I had a barium swallow and the Dr. said I have concentric dilatation. I was put on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and the heartburn went away. Now that I'm back on solid foods nighttime heart burn is back. I'm worried I will have to get my band removed. Anyway, I'm getting another barium swallow and talking to my surgeon. It has been so hard with to wake up 2-3 times a night with heartburn and another 2-3 time to feed my baby. I have severe sleep deprivation.
  6. I'm due in 4 weeks and have so far gained 30 lbs. I have also been completely unfilled for about 1/2 of my pregnancy. I'm looking forward to having my baby and getting my fill back. My Doctor said I could come in about 1 month after the baby is born to get some fill put back in.
  7. I had a complete unfill at 5 weeks because I was really morning sick (3-4 times per day). Then I got refilled at about 18 weeks. Then another complete unfill at 32 weeks because of acid reflux. I think every person is different but my doctor has been really great about giving me fills and unfills to keep me comfortable. I'm due in about 4 weeks and looking forward to getting filled back up after the baby is born.
  8. I'm 11 weeks pregnant. I went in and got a .5cc unfill at 5 weeks (when I started feeling morning sick) and then went in 2 days latter and got a complete unfill. My doctor said that as soon as I'm throwing up less than 2-3 times per week I can go in and get some fill put in so I won't gain too much weight durring the rest of the pregnancy. Right now I can eat normally (like my pre-band self) but somehow have managed to lose 7 lbs. I talked to my OB about getting a fill when I don't have any more morning sickness and she said it would be fine as long as I gained weight normally (15-20 lbs total since I'm at a BMI of 27). My bigest fear is gaining back the 50 lbs that I've worked so hard to loose. Did anyone else get fill put back in after the morning sickness went away? Did anyone get a complete unfill for labor?

    Reflux Poll

I was banded 14 months ago and had terrible acid reflux for about 4 months. I would wake up 5 out of 7 nights vomiting. I spoke with my doctor and learned some tips on managing the reflux and now it's not a problem and I sleep peacefully. I tried a lot of things, but these made the most difference. - I got a small un-fill and then refill a month latter. - I don't eat or drink anything after 5pm - I sleep in a recliner at an incline - I don't drink beverages with citric acid I didn't have any acid reflux before surgery.

    Port Protruding

I'm worried that once I get skinny my port will stick out. My doctor said for $500 I could get a thinner port that won't stick out as far. This thinner port might be an option for you to consider.

    Enough Restriction?

I was banded on Sep 18 and had my first fill, 1cc, a week ago on Oct 31. I lost 18 pounds right after surgery but have gained 2 pounds back in the last 2 weeks. Even after my first fill I don't feel restricted (not even a little). I'm anxiouse to go back for my next fill so I can start loosing weight. Any advice on how long to wait between fills?
