Well My doctor told me that Kaiser will not cover for lap band, they only do Gas. Bypass. Can you believe that !!!! They will do major surgery on you but won't do the simple lap band. So I have to see about self pay. Going to a seminar on the 16th and we will see from there.

I am reading about all of you guys and what you are going through. I am very happy for you all. I am so frustrated. Trying to figure out how to make all this work. I have signed up for a seminar, But it isn't until June 14. Am still trying to get an appointment with a Doctor. I think I want Dr. patterson here in Portland. From what I have read from some of you already she seems very good. Anyway, left message to be called back about an Appt. But have not got a call yet. Will have to call Monday again. I can't wait to get my band, But like someone said......HOOPS.......HOOPS.......HOOPS. Hope to have good news soon. Anyone that had Dr. Patterson from Oregon Weight Loss Surgery in Portland. I would love to hear how everything has turned for you .

I am trying to get the lap band. If I may ask you what a ball park figure is to have it done and pay my self. My insurance don't cover it & I would really like to do it. But don't know if I can aford to pay my self.

I am in the same boat. I was told that my insurance covered the lap band. So I got all excited and made an appt with my doctor to talk about doing it. Then they say. No we don't cover the lap band, we only cover the bypass. And I for sure don't want that. If I find out anything will try to let you know. VERY VERY VERY FRUSTATED !

I am so upset. Kaiser Peremanente has said that they do not cover lap bands. I am so depressed & upset. This was my chance to loss wieght and now it is gone. Has anyone had Kiaser Permanente and been able to get the lap band done.

Hi There everyone :thumbup: I am just getting started on my journey. I have an appt with my doctor on 5/20/10 to talk to her about the lap band. I have been reading all about it. I am very excited about getting it done. I have been over 200 pounds for about 20 years now & heavier than I should be for about 30 years. I am so ready for this.
