  1. totally normal! No worries. I gained like 8lbs from the fluids and gas. It all came off and I lost 100lbs in 6 months. From March 15th,2011 to Sept.,2011. I've been somewut "messing around" thses last few months so I do indeed have about 30-40lbs to my goal, but I'm back on track now and already down 7 mor pounds in a week. It will come, be patient. you did the right thing by getting the sleeve. I LOVE mine and would do it again if i had to. Good Luck!
  2. I feel your pain sister! Just hang in there. When I woke up from surgery it too was a horrendous nightmare. I was in terrible pain, but worse i was dry heaving nothing like you. I was terrified I was going to ruin my sleeve and /or barf up my stomach! It was definately a nightmare...BUT, it did get better with each passing day and I am SO glad i went through what i did because I lost 100lbs the first 6 months. From 265lbs to 165lbs March to September 2011. Unfortunately I let myself get off track for a while (I stopped dieting and also I was pregnant and miscarried) so I still have about 35-40lbs to go to my goal but i'll get there. And you will too. Keep the faith, it IS WORTH THE STRUGGLE! Good luck!
  3. Hello all, I am 9 months out from sleeve surgery and lost 100lbs in the forst 6 months. I still had/have (now) 45lbs to lose to hit my goal of 130lbs. Last month I found out I was pregnant. Yay! Very happy and just planned to lose it all after the baby. Well, no such luck. I miscarried last week and am so very, very heartbroken. But I don't want to wallow in self pity. I want to get back on the diet wagon and lose the rest of this weight! I want to lose this 40-45lbs, stop smoking, and get HEALTHY.Basically become the BEST i can possibly be so that I can try to conceive again in the near future. Problem is that I feel like I don't know how. How do I start again? Clears? Pouch test?Protein shakes? How many calories should I be having now? I feel like I've really lost my bearings. Can someone PLEASE PLEASE, give me some advice as how to start again? I'm a person that really needs structure in a diet. This is more important than EVER to me now. I just need a little help. Thank you,
  4. Hello all, I was sleeved March 15,2011 by Dr.Kelly.I started at 265lbs and by September/October I was down to 165lbs. 100lbs lost! woohoo! well, 3 weeks ago, I found I am pregnant.(about 7 weeks along now). I've had polycystic ovarian syndrome since I was 13yrs old and have 2 children ages 18yrs and 11yrs.old. While we did want one more child before our child-bearing years were over(I am 38yrs old and my hubby is almost 40yrs old), I have to say this was certainly a big surprise! I am ecstatic! And then again, terrified of gaining a lot of weight back that I worked so HARD to lose you know? I understand I will probably need to gain 15-25lbs but I am worried out about what that's going to be like...seeing the scale creeping up. And even though I KNOW it's for a good cause and it's really ok to gain some, I'm already somewhat freaking out. In 3 weeks I've gained 7lbs! Wut the heck??That CAN'T be right! Now I don't plan on "dieting" while pregnant, but is it possible to lose just those few pounds I just now gained? Honestly, I don't see how I even GAINED weight already! The most calories I probably had in one was like 1800 or so. More than my usual but certainly not enough to gain so much that fast right? Anyway, any advice out there for a prego like me? I want to gain the LEAST amount of weight possible without jeopardizing my little poppyseed (baby). thanks! Dinah
  5. Does anyone know how do we upload photos to our profiles?
  6. By the way, I am only about 3 weeks pregnant and probably due around beginning of july 2012.
  7. Well, I finally got to my 100lb weight loss with 35lbs left to go and now I just found out that I am pregnant! I guess the sleeve really DOES help with PCOS! WOw! While I am VERY happy, I'm just not sure how to deal with it nutritionally . How many calories should I be eating now? Will the baby get enough nutrition? (I'm sure it will take what it needs from me of course but still) I am not a new mother, I have an 18yr old son,18yr old step daughter, and 11 year old daughter. But I am somewhat rusty since it's been so long! And of course I didn't have a sleeve with all the other kids. I am 7 months out from sleeve surgery..lost 95lbs the first 5.5 months, then gave my body sort of a "break" for a couple months. Now pregnant. I still have 35lbs to lose to get to my goal weight of 130lbs, but obviously will have to give up on that now. Has anyone else gone through this? Will I still lose the weight after the baby? (Even though I will more than likely now GAIN 30LBS). Was it devastating to watch to scale go UP instead of down? Did you get enough nutrition? Did you need extra vitamins of any sort? Was the baby weight harder to lose than normal? easier?Of course I will look on the pregnancy forum but just wanted to share some good news and ask for advice. So many questions! In know! haha But I am stoked and thrilled that losing this weight gave me the chance to be a mom one more time in my life. :-) Thanks Dr.Kelly (and God of course!)
  8. I am having the very same issue as well! I feel your pain sister! I would LOVE to know if there actually is a product that will help with this issue. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
  9. So today marks my 100lbs weight loss in this journey I started march 15th! WOOHOO! I am STOKED!! (Mind you I did lose the first 95lbs in 5.5 months (August) and have somwhat slacked the last 2 months...gave my body a break if anything!) But I WILL reach my goal! I PROMISE you that! 35lbs to go. It's amazing how I notice little things here and there like how thin my hands are or how thin I look when I catch my reflection suddenly in a plate glass window. One day my 18yr old son and his friend came home while I was standing on the porch. He said "God mom, stop looking so skinny, you're freaking me out! We didn't even know it as you on the porch!" I LIVE for days like that, let me tell you! Of course there are THOSE other days where I feel bad for still being so fat and I try to chase those negative thoughts away but old habits do die hard. I'm a work in progress! Oh happy day!!! I'm gonna savor it just for a little while. :-) Thanks everyone on here for their amazing support. Couldn't have made it this far without you!
  10. at about 2 months out, I started bleeding a few days a week lightly. (I have PCOS & only have TOM maybe 2-3 times a year at my highest weight of 265lbs.) That went on for probably a month or so. Then all the sudden I started bleeding A LOT every single day for probably 10-14 days. During that time i had my hemoglobin and hematocrit checked and it was super low 23.4 and 7.9. I was very pale as well. Finally at a dr.'s appt. my OB/GYN told me she could do a D&C THAT day. So 2 hours later I was prepped for that and then when done, I received 2 units of blood. Long story short, I know for a fact that my weight loss had everything to do with the onslaught of TOM. My hormones were obviously WAY out of whack. I lost 95lbs in 5.5 months. The last 2 months I;ve lost about 10lbs (my fault.Kind of took a break, but now getting back on track to lose the last 30-40lbs). I would say it's your hormones. I would certainly go see a doctor as soon as you can. Good luck!
  11. Hello all! So I was sleeved March 15th of this year and and lost 97lbs in 5.5 months...(I didn't lose anything in August...my own fault..kinda took a break). I've been walking for about 3-5x a week for exercise but haven't for the last 3 weeks or so due to rain and wind(yes i'm a woose),. I want to do something different but am not sure where to start and what exercises to focus on. I am apple shaped and carry almost ALL of my weight on my belly. ugh! My upper arms, thighs, and butt(what little butt i even have!) have become flabby and I have about 38lbs to go (almost all in the tummy). What I want to know is ...What exercises should I now focus on? Cardio of course and strength training to tone up the flabby parts. But how much cardio? How often? When to throw in weights/bands? During the workout? Alternate days with strength training and cardio? What's a good workout? (ps. I'd rather go to a gym than workout at home) Please let me know what others have do/done that works/worked. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

  13. Here I thought I had dodged the hair loss bullet but at about 4-5 months out I REALLY noticed it coming out in my hair brush. Even when I straighten my hair there's a ton of it in the sink! Not fun! I started taking prenatal vitamins and biotin religiously maybe a couple months ago and haven't noticed a whole lot of progress but I think I'm just gonna cut about 6 inches off to about shoulder length and just deal with it. From what I've heard from everyone on here,it won't last forever and losing 95lbs in 6 months so far has been totally worth it. (40lbs to go but stalling a bit). As long as I don't end up looking like my dad with bald on top and a ponytail in the back, I'll be fine!! hahahaha!
  14. I'm 6 months out and don't crush any of my pills. I haven't had any issues with it so I' assuming it's ok. I've been taking them whole for a couple months now. No problems except for they make me nauseous if I don't have anything in my stomach. Ugh! So I take them with about 2-4oz. of yogurt. Good luck!
  15. Hi I had my sleeve with Dr.Kelly March 15th, So far I lost 95lbs (in 5.5 months) But this whole month i Ihave been stuck in the 170's. I'm very happy with the current weight loss but there is no doubt that it is now stalling. First part of the stall i was being very good and sticking to my "diet" consistantly, but as I didn't lose much, I've kind of been getting off track and not making the best choices. I talked to a friend who had a lapband many years ago and she said to up my protein and exercise. So I plan to go to Costco and get the premade shakes that are 30g protein per shake. Iam gonna kick start this weight loss again if it kills me! (not really if it KILLS me haha). But I totally feel your pain and frustration. We can do it though! I have 40lbs left to go and I'm not stopping now! I'm going ALL THE WAY! And you can too! Good luck sister! I'm rootin' for ya! Thanks, Dinah
  16. Thank all you wonderful ladies for the advice. I am going to try the 5 day pouch test in a day or 2. Hope it goes well, I just can't give up now when I'm so close! I'm going ALL THE WAY this time! I'm really glad to know I'm not completely alone in my feelings of despair. I just want to get to the finish line. Thank you all!
  17. Hello, I'm almost 6 months out and have lost 95lbs. I've done very well up until about a couple weeks ago. It seems I've lost my way . I've been stuck in the 170's for a WHOLE month now and am not happy about it. this isn't normal for me. I generally have been losing est.16lbs per month except for this one which has only been about 8-10lbs. I admit i haven't been making the healthiest choices. I haven't necessarily been eating MORE, my sleeve is well intact, but I've slipped up by eating no-no foods,:nono: i.e., sugar, bread, cereal, CARBS. I want to rectify this but it seems like i almost don't know "how". Sounds weird probably but it's like I need to start over and get back to the basics. But where to start? Should I start out with clear liquids again and progress like in the beginning? Or do a couple protein shakes a day with a small meal for dinner? Like I said, I feel LOST. I need structure here. I'm not going to let my "golden year" slip by making the wrong choices. I refuse!! I am very upset with myself for letting this happen.:banghead: I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't been losing either. I've actually been losing and gaining the same 3lbs for about a week! Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thank you.:help:
  18. I'm 5.5 months out and sometimes I NEED to hear the truth as it is when I'm considering eating something I know is not a good choice, not people telling me "It's fine to eat junk because you need extra calories"or whatever the case may be. I would appreciate a healthy alternative being offered in place of the poorer choice. But I guess that's me. I figure after all the time, money, energy, pain, put into this life altering decision, I certainly WANT the truth. Good luck to all! We are ALL amazing just by being here!
  19. Vitamins make me extremely nauseous as well. I hate it! But the only thing I have found for me that works is to NEVER, NEVER take them on an EMPTY stomach! DO that and it's a for sure deal hugging the porcelain God for me. Since I don't like to eat breakfast, I take them with some yogurt every morning. So far it has been working like a charm. Good luck. (PS. I am switching to prenatal vitamins...one a day..period.not including calcium, Biotin, etc. but it certainly cuts down on the 8 others i was taking before!)
  20. Hi all, I was sleeved March 15th by the gifted surgeon Dr.Ramos-Kelly. Since then I have lost 90lbs (all post op). I lost 30lbs the first month and average 16lbs a month thereafter (except for one month when I lost only 10lbs). My problem is that I feel stuck in a rut. For the last month I've been losing very slowly.(I've been in the 170's for almost a MONTH now!) I haven't been eating MORE food but I admit I've been somewhat lax and been having more sugar treats than normal through out this whole process (butterscotch suckers that are to die for!) The thing is, I feel like I've lost my way a bit. How can I get back on track? (Obviously stop with the suckers) but beyond that. Like should I start with protein shakes again for structure? (I've only been having shakes very sporadically for a couple months now). What's a good way to "start over"?? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks a lot!
  21. I have a random, odd question. If we exercise a lot and don't eat much, apparently our bodies go into "starvation mode". If that's the case, how on earth do people "starve" to death? (Weird question I know but I am curious) Thank you
  22. I feel the same way for the last 2 weeks- month. I keep bouncing from 177-178lb.s and it is extremely frustrating.(as you well know) I too am trying different things to hopefully find someting that will work and get me losing again. Glad to see these posts, I thought I was the only one! Thanks guys and good luck to all!
  23. Thank you everyone for the informative replies. Some great information in there! FYI, I don't normally weigh myself several times a day and if I do, i'm well aware of the fluctuations. Lately I've just noticed my body seeming to hold on to EVERYTHING, even weight from fluids and just food.(and it doesn't seem to want to give it up!) (I do like the sugary coffee idea too. I believe that has worked for me here and there. Hey when you're desperate.....you'll do about anything to poo) Thanks everyone! I plan on trying several suggestions! GREATLY appreciated!!
