Just banded Yesterday May 17th 2010... I am sick as a dog!!
I was banded 4-28-10 and have lost 18 pounds. Are you following Dr's orders regarding liquids only then soft mushy. If so it seems impossible that you wouldn't lose weight. Call your doc and review what you are eating. Maybe to many calories in your liquids. Something doesn't seem right.

Can't stop the hunger
I had surgery the same day and I am not experiencing hunger all the time. I try to have 3 protein shakes a day and eat every 2 to 3 hours if I feel the need. I am mixing the protein powder with Almond milk and shaking it with ice which makes it thicker and very satisfying. I have made homemade delicious soups with vegetable like asparagus cooked with a whole bunch of parley, whole onion, 4 cloves garlic, 1 carton and one can of chicken broth, some pepper. When soft I beat 4 eggs and add to soup and it cooks and then grate some fresh Parmesan cheese. Blend it to puree and it is very satisfying and has protein in it as well. I have had a can of tomato soup with the almond milk as well which is also very good. I have made a spinich soup and added the egg and a can of garbanzo beans to add texture and protein. Lots of water, diet tea, etc. I have been doing fine. I stared after surgery as I really needed the protein. I get creative with the cooking which helps and I have had yogurt and sugar free pudding. It sounds as if you are not eating enough protein. My doctor said to have protein immediately. You need it to heal. You can eat, just eat smart and not to much at a time.

pregnant and gaining a little weight! frusterating
My gosh, you are supposed to gain some weight when pregnant. Don't be so hard on yourself. Just eat healthy and you will worry about losing weight after the baby. You want your baby to be healthy so you must eat!

Might be too tight
Maybe you should tell your Dr. to take a little out so you don't have to go through the being stuck etc.

10 Days Banded & Getting my Appetite Back - yikes!!
I was banded 4-28 about the same time as you. For several days now I have been making my own pureed soups and they are really delicious. I add egg and beans and blend which gives a great flavor and texture and more protein which is more satisfying to me. If you want recipes let me know. It helps me a lot to have good healthy soups along with the protein drinks and water because they taste so good and I don't feel as deprived. I also got the chocolate calcium chews from Costco. They taste kind of like a tootsie roll and I just suck on them as they dissolve and that helps my chocolate craving. Also, I have fruity chewable vitamins that taste like candy to me. I went to a Mother's Day dinner at my friends house and they were eating hamburgers, hot dogs, tri-tip and chicken along with salad, potato salad, fresh fruit, etc. To avoid the visual temptation I drank a protein shake before I went so I wouldn't be hungry and brought my soup. As is turned out I didn't eat my soup I ate my first solid food, some potato salad as it was very soft. I mashed it like mashed potatoes and it went down easy and was so yummy. I passed up everything else and was okay. I am having shakes, soup and yogurt or whatever when I feel the need as now is about healing. We must make healthy choices so as not to deprive our bodies of the nutrition they need. This is a process and I think everyone has to adjust individually. I know I am able to eat more now than right after surgery because I am healing inside and have lost about 14 pounds. It is all normal from what I have learned. Hang in there and don't worry, you will be losing weight.

Baby steps
I was scared to death as well. I just followed Drs orders and jumped in. I was banded 4-28-10 and everything went perfect. I have already lost 15 pounds since 4-26-10. Just make sure to check out your Doctor very well and as long as you are in good hands you should do fine. Good luck.

The Third Band was the Charm!
All I can say is you poor thing. How awful. Glad it is working out. I was banded on 4-28-10 and everything went perfect. So far no nausea and no vomiting. It sounds like your band was not on properly. You are one tough cookie!

Monday is the big day and soooo nervous!!!!!
Hi, I had my surgery last Wednesday. I had all the feelings you are having now. I just decided that I would need to make it work and its all in my head and hell I was just going for it. My surgery went very well (Dr. Michael Feiz). My pain has been minimal as long as you keep the pain meds in and don't lapse. I am on liquid Tylenol now. Also follow doctors orders exactly for optimal results when it comes to the liquid diet and walking after. I think this has helped a lot. I have had no nausea and no vomiting at all. The only thing I felt uncomfortable with besides the shoulder pain is some gas in the stomach and a tightness in the stomach from internal swelling. The incision pain wasn't bad. Drink something warm if this happens, like chicken broth or tea. I do not feel hungry at all and I am watching my family prepare food. I usually just go upstairs while they are eating, but today I sat with my kids as they ate and it didn't really bother me. Again I just keep telling myself this is the way it has to be for now. I had many many years of eating what I wanted and that is what made me fat. So now I am working on getting thin. This beats trying to diet without restriction. Sure there will be tough times, I can see that but I am sure it will be worth it. Hang in there and good luck!

Possibly no longer a May 3rd bandster... =(
Awesome, if it doesn't feel right don't do it. If you go to another Doctor, they may be able to put it all together for you with your insurance Company. This is a bit of a roller coaster ride but hang in there.
