  1. Thanks russ.... I am already preping myself for getting up the nerve to ask a fellow passenger to put my carryon in the overhead. I know it seems silly but I hate hate hate to ask for help. I guess I'm learning a whole new way to live Stacey
  2. Question for you vetrans out there. I am getting sleeved onthe 21st (cant wait). I am absolutly perfectly fine with never being able to eat large amounts of food again. No problem. I am a little worried about drinking though. There is nothing I love more (okay, maybe a couple of things) than going for a hard hike in the sun and guzzling cold water. I know that I can only take little sips at first, but will I be able to take a big gulp of water some day? Thanks Stacey
  3. I'm gong to Dr Rodriguez. I absolutly can't wait. I was reading some of the earlier posts and PNW (pre-surgery) was talking about being obsessed. I'm sooooo there. It's all I can think about. The idea that I could have a real life thats not laced with fat shame. I keep trying to remind myself that all my problems arn't going to dissapear overnight but it feels like the possibilities are endless. I have even started my pre-op diet 5 days early because I just want to get this show on the road!!!!! Stacey
  4. Oh yea... it's the 8th YOU GO DAISYGIRL. Give us an update when your feeling up to it stacey
  5. It is something isn't it. I think a lot of it comes from a belief in stereotypes and myths. Too bad, you would think an MD would be more educated. stacey
  6. I know what you mean Kahn... the days building up are hard. All sorts of fears mixed with excitement. It's a eal roller coaster. I had extremely vivid nightmares about my stomach being ripped out of me for the week following my decision. I go on April 21st. If the experiences of others is anything to go by.... we are going to be just fine. take care stacey
  7. One idea may be to swithch to something that also comes in a liquid like Prozac. If that doesn't work for you you coul crus up a time release and give it to yorself in thirds throughtout the day. It's not ideal but nobody should have to be that depressed. Stacey
  8. I just want to do it already!!!!
  9. Wow, interesting article. I'm more convinced the sleeve is the way to go with everything I read. Thanks everybody Stacey
  10. My BMI is 31... it's been that since I was 12, depite years of frantic effort and crying. I can't wait to get sleeved on the 21st of April. I'm surprised at how supportive people are about low BMI surgey. I need to loose 70 lbs (I'm very tall). Good luck to us all!!!!! Stacey
  11. Thanks for all your input guys. It really helps alleviate my fears. should I get a wheelchair or cart? If it's not necessary I'd rather not. there is nothing I hate more in the wold than having extra attention. Thanks Stacey
  12. Good point about the negatibity. I certainly don't need any of that right now. It wouldn't be the end of the world if my pcp dropped me. I'm mostly worried about my insurance (kaiser) looking for reasons not to cover stuff. stacey
  13. I'm so impresseed with your resolve. Your right!!! We cant afford the bills of a leak. Your brave for coming this far (my surgery is on april 21). I've noticed that I find a thing of the day to freak out about. Of course your scared, but this is probably your thing of the day. Your body won't let back slide and with that little extra tool in your belt you will be successful. I hope no one tells me how to "eat around" my sleeve. I don't even want to know Hang in there.... the hard parts almost over. Stacey
  14. I'm so excited for you!!! Tomorrow is the first day of your new life. get a good nights sleep and know that lots of people will be sending you good thoughts tomorrow. Your almost there stacey :001_smile:
  15. yea oregon daisy... I worry about that too. I dont know the answer there. Insurance companies will do just about anything not to pay. PNW... thanks for the info. I'll print out for doc. stacey
  16. I'm absolutly cool with the idea that if you don't eat right and exercise you will not be able to keelp off the weight. I just can't fathom the idea of eating like a bird and exercising everyday while I put it back on. thanks for your reply stacey
  17. any suggestions about what info I should bring. Specific links that are informative or summaries of procedure? thanks stacey
  18. thanks for the input guys. I have an appt thursday. I guess I'll tell her. It might not hurt to get a little liquid prozac either. Stacey
  19. thanks It seems I come up with a new thing to freak out about every day. I just need to have the surgery already. stacey
  20. does anyone know the stats on regaining weight after vsg surgery. I read a post somewhere where a woman was 3 years out... eating like a bird and exercising as her weight slowly climbs up. Anybody? Thanks Stacey
  21. I have surgery on th 21st of april in tijauana. Hospital the 21st 22nd and hotel on the 23rd. 24th 2 hrs to get accross the border then an hour at the airpot then a 2.5 hour flight home then a 1.5 hour drive (friend driving). How is this gonna be? am I going to be able to do it? I assume I will because the doctor says I can.... how were you guys 3 days out? Thanks Stacey
  22. I keep going back and forth about whether to tell my pcp about my upcoming sleeve surgery or not. I'm low BMI (31) and have no comorbids so I feel she will find it unnecessary. I'm having the procedure in Mexico and would like for someone here to be aware.... just in case of emergency, but I don't know. Theres not much follow up with the sleeve and I'm otherwise healthy. any words of wisdome on this issue Thanks Stacey
  23. I'm going to rodriguez on april 21. I'm comfortable with the choice even though I too have heard great things about Aceves. Quite simply I just can't pay for him. If any ones been to see rodriguez at INS i'd love to hear your experience there. thanks stacey
  24. I am getting sleeved on the 21st of April. I am self pay in mexico. I have kaiser insurance but don't qualify for the sleeve. Does anyone know if I get home and have complications are they likely to cover it? What about follow up visits with my regular US doc. I am afraid to call and ask because I don't want them to know if they don't have too. thanks stacey
  25. Interesting... I tend to bounce back prety fast from most things... Here's hoping this is one of those things stacey
