  1. A little over 1 year later and I've lost almost 120 pounds. Dr. Smith is the best!
  2. You folks that are just getting 1cc or so per fill, or feel no restriction after being filled... are your Dr.'s doing the fill under fluoroscopy? It seems that the idea of getting the fill is to create restriction, not to goof around until you get to where this tool is doing it's job.
  3. I used Dr. Adam Smith, with www.fortworthlapband.com, and he's been great. I'm not sure if he does revisions, though. I have a friend that's a part owner of a bariatric practice, and her ex-husband is the surgeon. He's specializes in revisions, and they are great. I didn't use them because of scheduling issues. Dr. Kim Bariatric Weight Loss LAP-BAND System Gastric Bypass Surgery Arlington Dallas Fort Worth (Ft. Worth) Texas (TX) If you call them, and you end up talking to Jane, feel free to tell her that Chris Cloud sent you.
  4. There's no C02 in guiness... they use nitrogen to charge and express it. I've been curious if the lower carbonation will make it easier to drink? I know I didn't burp drinking it before I got banded.... but I haven't had any alcohol in a couple of months, so I don't know that I'm even that worried about it.
  5. I had that issue for about a week, and I now get it when I'm out riding the bike. It's getting better, though.
  6. LOL... Yeah, some are much more strict. I get paradoid, and was getting a little concerned that maybe it wasn't working or maybe slipped, then I took a little to big of a bite of my tuna yesterday. I now know what it's like to get stuck for a little while. Yuck.
  7. I know it seems absurd that anyone would even consider doing this, but I know a Dr. that tried to do her own fill a little while back.... she used the wrong kind of needle and the port wouldn't seal. She had to have a port revision ($7000) to replace it. So, it DOES happen! LOL
  8. Sooooo, so so so nasty. I was using the walmart shots and they weren't bad at all.... just a little thick for my taste. I decided to get a box of the GNC (IDS) shots. BIG mistake. I can gag them down, only because I paid $44 for the box of them. Even then, I have to water them down so it's not so bad.
  9. I used the very same Dr. Smith... and on the very same day! Just had my post-op yesterday, and will get my first fill on 4/9.
  10. He did mine last week... I'm pleased so far. I had minimal pain afterwards.
  11. OH, and I measured a cup of tuna salad today. It's easy, I have tupperware type of deals that are 1 and 1.5 cups.
  12. I just had some home-made tuna salad, made with light miracle whip and various crunchy chopped veggies. Just had my first experience with getting stuck.... ouch. Took too big of a bite and didn't chew well enough.
  13. Dr. Smith is partnered with True Results.... They have an office in Hurst, which would be about an hour closer than the Richardson office. They are who I did all of my insurance work through before they handed me off to Dr. Smith. www.trueresults.com
  14. You might call Dr. Adam Smith in Forth Worth. Qualify For Fort Worth LAP-BAND® Weight Loss Surgery He does the fills with x-ray right in the office. Not sure if he'll do fills on mexican bands, but it's worth a shot.
  15. I'm one week post-op today... and I can eat canned fish, baked potatoes (no skin), mashed potatoes, overcooked veggies, Cereal, and a bunch of other junk. So, today after my post-op apt, I went straight to get a baked potato. I felt no restriction what-so-ever? Then, I got home and made some cauliflower (sp?), squash, and broccoli, and half of a salmon patty... still no feeling of restriciton. However, just a couple days ago my woman got me some junk called malt-o-meal (which was on the approved list for post-op), and I couldn't eat a whole serving of that. Talking to my buddy that had this done in December, he said he was kind of in the same boat. He said that it was because I had lost so much weight since the banding and there isn't any Fluid in the band. Not sure how right he is, but it sounds good to me. BTW, since the pre-op diet start, I've lost at least 33 pounds... 35 if I use what the scale said this morning. I don't think it's right, though. That's 3 weeks of liquids.
