At this stage I am very nervous.  I went to the seminar twice.  I finally decided that this was the right thing to do.  I was so impressed with Dr. Fielding and felt that he really did care about me and my surgery.  I have to admit I may have been a bit star-struck by him because of his reputation.  I felt very confident in the surgery manager when I spoke with her.  I tried to have all of my necessary paperwork with me but my physician left out a few things.  The surgery manager said that she would take care of it.  Then I received a call from someone asking me if I was still interested in the surgery.  I sais yes that I was waiting for a couple of other pieces of information and she hung up.  No other questions or comments.  Two weeks later I had not heard anything.  When I phoned I got an answer machine.  I left 3 messages.  Nobody ever called me back.  I called a fourth time and spoke with the surgery manager who told me someone else was handling my case (the person who called and asked me if I was still interested in the surgery).  I was transferred to that person and she knew nothing about me, what I needed, where my file was...nada.  Now I'm nervous.  Is this the person who is going to be dealing with the insurance company on my behalf?  If so, I'm sunk.  I have now gotten all of my paperwork in and it has been a week since I've submitted it.  I finally spoke to the surgery manager and she said she would call me back.  She did not.  Today I got a call from the other person who asked me when i was going to send my stuff in.  I told her I had, nearly a week ago.  I asked her if I could have a direct phone number and she said no, that she wasn't there all the time.  When I meet with Dr. Fielding he said that it was feasible that I could have the surgery in as little as 3 weeks time.  That time has long since past and I still don't know where I stand. This has been the most difficult decision of my life and I feel that it is not being taken seriously.  I really need some support here.  I know that I am not the most patient person in the world but I do deserve to have my phone calls answered and to speak to someone who at least knows what's going on with my case.  Feedback?  Am I being unreasonable?
