  1. i think faithmd needs to come in and give you her speil ... guys ... DO NOT EAT if your doctor says liquids only. there are medical reasons (trust me, it's not because your doctor doesnt like you). Faith says it much better than i can even think but basically you are healing now. the band has to get into place and scar tissue has to form around it to secure it. trust me, 2 weeks out i didnt even want to look at another Isopure drink, but that's when you call your surgeon to see if anything else can be done. dont ASS-u-me that it would be ok and just go hog wild. not a good thing. now - dont beat yourself up over it just dont do it until your MD gives the OK.
  2. before i was banded, i did not move (gee, wonder how i got up to 402??). if i was thirsty, i would ask DH to get off the couch and get me something to drink - the kitchen was maybe 25 steps from the couch. we would go shopping and i'd have him drop me off at the entrance. it was BAD. very bad. i got out of breath turning over in bed, walking to the bathroom, you name it. i honestly think the lap band saved my life. now - i try to work out 3-6 days a week. i have been in a slump so lately it's been 3 but i'm going to push it up to 6. i truly enjoy doing it once i am there. it's the getting there sometimes that is the problem. i do cardio and strength training. i work with my trainer every week and love it!!
  3. *delurking cause i just have to* Julie, wow ... almost 200 lbs gone for good. you are such an inspiration to me (and others, i'm sure). *back to lurking*
  4. i dont think its possible, but i think maybe you can post them in the comments ???? not sure.
  5. :clap2: Banannie you are doing a great job!!! keep up the good work!
  6. Tonya, interval training really works well for me but i just dont normally get the motivation to do it ... you'd think that the fact that it works would do it. i think the fact that my last trainer made me REALLY REALLY go on the elliptical (190-200 rpm) made me burn out very quickly. my new traininer says 170ish works just as well for now. the miles are going to be tough, but i really needed the challenge. the good thing is it's on the bike as well and i can knock out 10 miles in under 30 mins on the bike. so as long as i go to the gym 22 times this month and use the bike along with the ellipitcal, i should do it. i will update daily on what i do. jmcambra, YES YES YES. i, personally, need my trainer. i really think it is an accountability issue. last month i didnt have a trainer, and i completely slacked off. i started with my trainer in November (had surgery in October) so i was probably about 380ish pounds when i started. i am now at 289 today. (scale is moving once again - bout time!!) good luck!
  7. Bridget, it is a HUGE challenge for me. last time i tracked miles, i did about 120ish, so this is 10+ miles each week day. i usually do about 2 on the elliptical then 10ish on the bike. i really need the push of this challenge. July was not a good month weight wise for me (up about 8 pounds) and i need to really kick it into high gear for my Bandiversary (October). i want to lose a total of 150 by then. i've got a LONG way to go.
  8. had a great workout with my new trainer today. focused on balance, arms and cardio. she had me do a great interval and i was soaked by the time i was finished. this is the first time in a very long time i've been pushed so hard by my trainer. i am loving it!!!
  9. everyone is doing such a great job!! congratulations!
  10. Bridget - congrats .. that is wonderful! of course you can shout your successes here!! faith - you'll get there, i know it!! soooo close to twoterville, you can do it!! 13. Telly, WOW. absolutely gorgeous! you have done such an amazing job! congratulations
  14. yup, that's it... i am not saying i necessarily agree with those regulations, but i want another child and loved my experience with China... (and they just raised their rates)
  15. i think that is my fave NSV so far. its so nice to go to a restaurant and not have to say "3 please, table not a booth" ... i, too, actually requests a booth now. yay ... i love my band!!
  16. my DH and i adopted my DD from China in 2003. everything, including airfare/hotels/food while there, cost about $14,000. we did get a tax credit of a little over 10,000 the following year so we got a huge refund. would i do it again? absolutely no questions asked. in fact, if i cannot conceive within the next 6 months (and once i get below 40 BMI) we will start the process over. the ONLY fees we paid to the US government were passport fees and INS fees. all other fees went to our agency (who runs several clinics in China - and other countries - and that is where most of our fees go), the Chinese Adoption branch of the government (this pays for the first XX months of her life - food, caretakers, etc), and Chinese documentation (her passport, visa, etc.) one good thing is the fees are staggered. you dont pay it all at once. and now that the China program is taking about 2 years, it is easier to come up with the money. best of luck to anyone who wishes to adopt. if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.
  17. my VG band is great! although i do wish i had the smaller AP, but ehh... it's ok
