Nervous about Revision looking for your story and feedback!
I am a 45 year old male who is 5'10/270- I had a lap band put in in 2010. My lowest weight has been 230 and I balloon back and forth . I want the band OUT it is almost completely filled with no restriction. If I weighed anything under 200 I would be pretty fit. Here are my concerns 1. Do I just get the band taken out and go to normal anatomy and lose it my on own? 2. I was positive for H. Pylori and I am worried about complications even though I have had 5 knee surgeries and band surgery with no complications, and I am fairly healthy. 3. I personally know 2 people that have lost about 100 pounds a piece with sleeve that highly recommend it. I need the weight off my right knee because of 4 surgeries and arthritis as I am a coach and need to get around. I am at the phase where I schedule the surgery Monday. I would appreciate an of your stories, ideas and feedback - Thanks

How long did revision take?
Was wondering how long it took? Doc acts like it is no big deal to remove band , and doesn't even charge more for a revision. Did they take the fill out of your band before surgery?

For those that have had the revision surgery.....
I had my consult yesterday and I will just spend one night with revision. The surgeon said it's not difficult removing the band and doesn't even charge extra to do it. Told me his most satisfied sleeve patients are the ones who had bands. He told me that sometimes with revisions there is a little more nausea than just a regular sleeve.

Accountability Group
Absolutely love this running post! Will start a 5 day pouch test tomorrow after essentially 2+ years of giving up after being banded in February of 2010. I have moved from the Houston area so I will need to find a new doc for fills and now my new insurance doesn't cover anything bariatric. I am 44 years old, 5'10, 260 and need to lose 60 pounds. Here we go!

Anyone have to reboot and essentially start over?
6 years post-op and have gained everything back. Poor choices coupled with a band that is almost full that essentially has no restriction. Really looking to get back on track! Of course I have just moved and changed insurances that do not cover bariatric procedures so any fills will be on me. Looking for advice, your yo-yo success story or inspiration .......thanks

My Experience
I had a Lap-band placed in February of 2010 . I originally lost about 40 pounds, but that stalled once the fills started. I have almost 10cc in a 12 cc band and have absolutely no restriction. The day since I have had surgery I have had constant diarrhea and loud stomach noises with normal BM's about 10%. Of the time. My doctor told me this was not related to the band, and so I starting seeing a GI specialist . After spending about 2k and about 6 months he cannot find anything wrong with my digestive system but is perplexed at the amount of diarrhea I have . I had none of this before surgery, and have researched the Vagus nerve in your stomach sometimes is damaged during abdominal surgery. I have no idea what is wrong, and no one else does. Today I weighed 262 which is a pound heavier than the day I had surgery. I absolutely HATE my lap-band and want it out. This was the worst decision of my life. Not sure if I want a sleeve or nothing at all. Sorry for the negativity but this is the truth ........ultimate failure

Struggling w/ Chronic Diarrhea
I have had a semi -break through. My GI doc has been treating me for a hyperactive small intestine with medicine and it is working great. Constant bowel sounds and diarrhea have disappeared but I still believe they are all band related.

Struggling w/ Chronic Diarrhea
Just an update- I went back to GI doc and he ran a cat scan for cancer, chrons and something else. It all came back negative and has come to the conclusion I have a hyperactive small intestine and put me on medicine to slow down my small intestine. It has helped a lot and once and calmed everything down. It's not serious and may go away . Supposedly it's very rare. Thank The Lord!

Struggling w/ Chronic Diarrhea
I was negative for celiac, crohns and everything including IBS. I have tried removing stuff all grains and dairy from diet but it's constant diarrhea. It's manageable if I take a pro-biotic but I still have diarrhea but not as often.

Struggling w/ Chronic Diarrhea
I have had a colonoscopy and other tests as well as 2 different rounds of strong antibiotics, my GI specialist( who has a great rep) is perplexed. My surgery was a disaster and I don't even know if they took my gall bladder out. It took way to long and he said he had problems because I have a long torso. I went on low carb, gluten free and any other thing you can think of. I took fiber etc. I really want this thing out or converted to something else. No solid poops for 3 years is embarrassing.

Struggling w/ Chronic Diarrhea
I have had my lab band for over 3 years . I have had constant diarrhea since I have had the band. I talked to the doctor and they said had nothing to do with the band and told me to see another doc. I saw a GI specialist and have done a endoscopy and all kinds of stool samples and he can't find anything wrong with me. My situation is bad - I have to go a lot and it's embarrassing and my stomach makes all kinds of loud liquid gurgling noises. It has effected my life adversely. I have only lost 30 pounds with the band and could live with out. I have a decent fill but had problems before the any fill. Anyone have any experience with this, or have any ideas? My Dr says he will not take out a properly functioning lap band. Do I need to take it out. I appreciate all responses.

Back on here after two years ? need advice and support
I was banded February 2010 and lost 50 pounds within the first six months. I needed to lose about 80 total and was 30 from target weight. I have slipped and gained back 30 of that. I am 5 foot 10 and a 260 pounds, and now need to lose 60. I have a band 10cc about 8.5 Filled. I am taking in to much sugar and not eating right at all and pretty much eat what I want. I guess I just need some advice, support, or encouragement. Thanks!

Need Advice...failing With Lap Band After 2 Years
I intially had surgery in late February of 2010. I am a 5'10 male that weighed about 280. I lost 50 pounds in the first 6 months down to about 230. I currently weigh about 250 and my sleep apnea is now coming back. I need to weigh under 200 pounds. I have a 10cc band and have had about 4 or 5 fills and have around 7.4 in a 10cc band, but do not have much restriction.I eat way too much, and have started eating the wrong things as well as drinking sugar. I have fell back into alot of my old ways. I dont want this band to be a failure. I seem to have a lot of fill already, is it possible I need more? Need advice about getting on track after a lapse on my part. Thanks for any help!

Have Bowel Questions for the Banded
I was banded 2/22/10 and have lost 50 pounds. I can eat regular foods and have not had alot of problem. My concern is that all of my bowel movements are loose or very loose, and I have had very few solid movements. I am regular and not constipated. Should I be concerned? It is just alot different since being banded. Any advice would be appreciated
