had lapband today 4/13/11
Just keep walking and moving around as much as possible. My Lortab was also liquid form. I thought that's what all Lap Band surgeons prescribed.

Got a tiny fill today and goal weight issues....
Thanks everyone. This is the second time he's mentioned a goal of 160/165. He's seems so adamant on it and I'm so not. I want to keep going. I'll just take it slow and see what happens.

Got a tiny fill today and goal weight issues....
I think I'm pretty close to where I need to be fill wise so today the doctor added only .2 cc's. Now I can fill everything I drink. Like I feel it slowly going through my band. Is that normal? Also my other question is this. I'm currently 5' 5" and I weigh 174 now. I'd like to be around 140. My family doc said that's fine b/c it will put me at a normal healthy BMI. Also I have arthritis in both knees so my family doc said it's ideal to get me to a normal BMI. She said it would help lessen my knee pain. Anyway, my surgeon thinks that's unrealistic and I'll be too skinny. He thinks I should stop after I lose another 15 pounds. That would put me in a size 10/12 and my weight around 160. I would like to be at minimum a size 8. He says he's not going to put much more in my band because he wants me in maintenance mode after I hit 160 but that's not what I want. Am I being unreasonable? Before I started having weight issues I weighed 145 and I was a size 8. Advice?

Magnesium & insulin resistance
Your welcome! Just make sure if you try it that you get the name brand Natural Calm. vitacost or Vitamin Shoppe, I can't remember which, but one of them makes a generic version. It's not quite the same. It's awfully gritty and doesn't dissolve all the way. It's like trying to drink sand:( Natural calm does fizz but I mix it up and then let it sit 15 minutes. Then stir it again really good and let it sit. I drink it once most of the fizz is gone.

Life insurance
What did they ask you exactly? I've only ever been asked if I smoked or not or had any type of cancer or lung disease.

If I wanted to try low carb....
I tried it about a month ago. I found that if I stuck to 1200 calories a day that I could do 55 grams of carbs a day and still stay in ketosis.

Shoud I or should I not
Here's my 2 cents:) After surgery the pain wasn't bad for me. I never even needed my prescription pain meds. I've been banded since August 2010 and like you I worried I might regret it but I don't. I'm loving it! As for the vomiting and nausea... for me I don't really get nauseas. If I eat the wrong thing and get stuck it just hurts. Once I throw up it's over and I feel 100% better. It's not like the vomiting and nausea you would experience with a stomach virus. Also, I don't throw up daily. Mostly about once a month when I eat the wrong things or I eat too quickly. I thought about doing it back in 2006 and I got scared and chickened out but last year I decided that since I kept thinking about it I should just give it a shot and I did. I've never looked back. I always thought I would worry about the foreign body thing also but I haven't. Do you know anyone else who has a band? If so you should talk with them also, if not go to a couple of Lap Band support group meetings and talk to some people there. As for the reflux I think for some it can go away but you just never know until you lose the weight and see what happens. When I had my band put in I had 3 kids at home. At that time they were 9,3 and 5 months. I was back to caring for them full time 2 days after my surgery. My surgeon said that I could do it but he said I wouldn't want to because picking up the baby would really hurt, but it didn't bother me at all.

approved pain relievers/non-approved
My surgeon says I can have Ibuprofen or Tylenol. I even take Mobic every day.

Body Bugg or Body Media?
How many of you use one of these? Which one would you recommend? They both have a pedometer built in right?

Calorie Deficit and Body bugg
I would think with that big of a deficit every day you would eventually go into starvation mode and stop losing. Have you tried eating a little more to mix it up a bit?

I have a confession to make...
While I know that part of my problem with losing weight was due to always being hungry, I've also come to realize that I honestly think I'm addicted to food. I binge eat and I eat to feed my emotions. I also have depression so my emotions are all over the place. If I don't fix this I'll never reach my goal weight. Where do I go from here? Any advice? Should I just seek out a good counselor or what?

Interesting Comment made on Dr. Oz show yesterday re: Insurance
My plan will pay for any problems/ revisions as long as it's medically necessary.

Stopping BP meds
Well you could call your pharmacist and ask them if your pill can be split. If they say yes then try 1/2 of it for a few days and see how your pressures are. The most important thing is just knowing rather or not you can cut your pill in half.

Stopping BP meds
My PCP told me to try half a pill and keep checking my pressures then if they were still low try going without and keep checking my pressures. You should ask your PCP though because not all BP Meds can be split.
