  1. I am still in k town. I was banded by prof wiener in august. It took me 6 months to get the proper fill amount but now I am just right and losing nicely. I have lost 35 lbs but 12 of that is in the last month. Prof Weiner does the surgery but I have not seen him since then. I always see someone on his team. The only bad thing I can say about the surgery with him is that an appintmenr for a check up takes all day. Let me know if you have any questions about Tricare or getting approval. The process is pretty easy.
  2. I am from central Arkansas but I am currently living in Germany. Good luck with your band!
  3. I had marinated pork tenderloin, steamed broccoli, and a couple of bites of mashed potatoes.
  4. My theory on the delayed feeling of the fill is this...the saline they push into the port probably doesn't all make it's way to the band right away. some of it lingers in the tubing for a while.
  5. Getting fills does not shrink your pouch, it just shrinks the hole between your pouch and the lower stomach. You should still be able to eat the same amount. You will just be full a little longer with each fill.
  6. You were banded 10 days ago and you already have 7cc's! I was banded that day I my first fill isn't until September 10th! Your doctor must have done a fluro fill. My doctor has the same thought process as your doctor so I am excited about getting to restriction quickly.
  7. It is common to loose weight at the beginning of a pregnancy, especially if you have weight to lose. It should even out by your second trimester. You do need to get all of the fluid taken out of your band though.
  8. My blog is below. I love to read the blogs, they are so encouraging!
  9. Mine is below. I love reading everyone's blogs! It really gives me encouragement.
  10. Thanks for the link...those sound good!
  11. He told me that if I am losing good then I do not get a fill. If I lose 10 lbs the first month after surgery then no fill. If I lose 8 Lbs the second month then no fill. He has been doing this surgery since 1994 and has done over 2000 surgeries. I fully trust his expertise.
  12. I just got my approval yesterday and my surgery is August 12th. I am so excited!
  13. I found out I was approved for my surgery today. I have Tricare Prime Overseas (Germany). The surgeon submitted my claim on Tuesday and I got a phone call from the Tricare office today telling me I was approved. The only co-morbidity I have is joint pain in my ankles and feet.
  14. Well it must work because he has done over 2,000 surgeries. I would be able to go in in the future for fills but he said .2 cc fills or .5 cc fills are a waste.
  15. I am getting banded August 12th by Dr. Weiner in Frankfurt Germany. He said that they only do one fill. They put you under an x-ray and they fill your band up all the way. They they have you drink some kind of liquid and they unfill until the liquid starts to pass through your stomach. Has any one else heard of this? It sounds like I will have good restriction on my first fill!
  16. I really don't have any advice because I have not been banded yet but I just wanted to wish you good luck!
  17. Hi Makala! I am starting out at 260 too.
  18. Hello everyone! I am finally getting the ball rolling so I can get banded. I have been going through the motions since January and I guess I was having some doubts so I kind of let things go for a little while. Anyway, I have an appointment with the surgeon July 19th. I am so excited! I hope to be banded in August. I have started a blog to get some things off of my chest and chronicle my journey. Serenity Now
  19. Thanks! So what do I do now? Do I have to see my PCM again or do I call Tricare?
  20. I went to my MPF in January to start the process of getting banded. I have since seen the nutritionist and the psychologist but I have had a lot of other things going on and I have not had time to get my form from the MPF for Tricare approval. How long do I have before I have to start the process over again?
  21. There is a doctor in Frankfurt who does the surgery. Dr. Weiner. There are no MTF's who do the surgery in Germany. I am still waiting for my nutrition and psych consults but I will be referred to him. Good Luck!
  22. I actually made my first appointment. It is next Tuesday. I am so excited to get the ball rolling on this!
  23. Hello everyone! This is my first post and I have a few questions. I am in Kaiserslautern and I am really wanting to get the Lap-Band. Who do I need to call first to get the ball rolling? Ramstein Clinic? My husband is stationed at Ramstein. I am so happy to find other women in the same area that have gone through this already!
