  1. Well give her a chance-- she may surprise you. If she gets mad I would be very disappointed in her. Keep giving us some updates.
  2. Do you think you will talk to your mom about this? It might help.
  3. Looks like you got some good feedback last night. I do think a counselor is a good idea-I have been seeing a therapist off and on all my life and it is a way to have an objective ear to discuss your life and get feedback. During real tough times it is a life saver. Losing weight in a way changes who you are and that is something else to be aware of that a counselor can help with. As I read what you wrote last night it seemed to me there might also be a visual connection between your friend losing a baby and the size of a cat. But yes- a counselor or therapist is a great help. I recommend it. You might ask your mom to help you find one.Keep journaling here. And don't fret about regaining a few pounds as it is your body accomodating itself.
  4. Glad you are feeling better but we are here if you start getting bummed out again.
  5. You're in my thoughts. Life isn't easy so we all have to learn to cope. At my old age I know what helps is letting the thoughts come rather than suppressing them. Just remember- this too will pass.
  6. You've been hurt and hurtful thoughts come to your mind. It's better not to block them--that makes it worse. We all have dark thoughts at times but we don't act on them. Are you sure it is over with your friend?
  7. It might help to explain what is bothering you. Sometimes writing helps you clarify your problems. People here are helpful. What do you mean about your cat? Let us know.
  8. Let us know how it goes- if you feel a difference afterwards. I thought it was just an Atkins type diet when I saw the recipes.
  9. Get a second opinion on your case from a non-army doctor.
  10. Join Weight Watchers. I've lost my weight going to their meetings- 3 fills and waiting for restriction. They emphasize portion control and can help you.
  11. Thank you- I think I am going to try and distract myself by doing research at the library. No food there. I already ate some cookies.Just not feeling good. But thanks.
  12. I'm in the middle of a stressful family situation and I want to stuff my face with food. It's so obvious I am a food addict. I am trying to hold on--I've had 3 fills now but I can still do it. I can still stuff my face.:w00t:
  13. Congrats on your weight loss but as evidenced by others that can change at any time. And yes I will listen to my physician rather than you.
  14. Cereal is filling for me-that's why I eat it. There is high protein cereal and yes it is recommended for breakfast and no my doctor does not consider it a slider food. On the other hand he does think protein shakes are a bad idea and that we need to get into the habit of eating regular solids. But I don't push this as everyone has their preferences--as do you.
  15. That's your opinion --but cereal with skim milk is recommended by my doctor. Anything in excess is questionable but this is breakfast. Ice cream and other hi cal stuff that goes down easily is the problem.
  16. I've had 2 fills and so I am still dieting and going to WW. My doctor said I would need to do this until I get to the right restriction. But even then you need to be thoughtful about what you eat. You need a few more fills yet so don't get frustrated with yourself.
  17. Don't worry about milk with cereal--it's more about drinking with other foods. As a rule you want them to "sit" for a while and help you feel full. I also agree the idea is to eat normally what you enjoy. Egg McMuffin has a lot of good protein but I decided to stay away from fast food restaurants as then I would make excuses to eat other stuff. Part of the work is developing better habits so I gave up fast food as it only required that I avoid driving to these places. If you really want one try making it at home.
  18. I think dementedfrog should be allowed to vent here and we should be able to listen and talk him through some of this. It's good to be positive but there is also a dark side to this fat business.
  19. Good luck with the surgery- you'll be glad you did it. I am!
  20. Thank you. I wanted to post here as I can't really "share" this with most folk who wouldn't understand.Writing it also helps me remember that I need to do this.
  21. I went through the cupboards & fridge yesterday and got rid of all the unhealthy stuff. Friends had brought over ice cream, full fat egg nogg, breads, dips, cookies and other stuff for our dinner and left them. I hesitated tossing good food out but after having the second slice of crusty bread with brie I knew I had to. I've always considered my relationship to food much like that of an alcoholic and an alcoholic would not try to live with unopened bottles of booze. Plus I live alone so I can have more control over my space. I did feel guilty and thought I could wait until Monday and perhaps give it to someone but when I started reaching for the ice cream I did what Weight Watchers suggests--destroy it! I put dish washing liquid on the ice cream and then everything went into a garbage bag and into the dumpster. I was on the edge of a full tilt lap band binge. I immediately felt so much better. Today I woke up, had my oatmeal and I feel so much better with my kitchen in order. I only have unprocessed healthy foods and this is the way it should be. For me.:biggrin::biggrin:
  22. You have to keep dieting until you get restriction. Try to stay positive until then.
  23. Thanks for the reminder to look at the big picture. I ate too much at my Festivus celebration last nite and was feeling a little anxious.
