Need Motivation .........
I think we've all had set backs at one time or another, or will experience them at point in our journey, if we haven't yet. the few times i've been discourged or thought the worst, as in I'll mess this up and go back to the way i was I try to remember the banding basics. I got out akk of my lapband literature and re-read it. 3 small meals a day, eat Protein first, lots of Water, no eating and drinking at the same time... all the basics and it puts me back on track. in addition I seek help from other bandsters like you have done. good luck! god bless, Rebecca

Eating what I want
very interesting topic... for me, I enjoy what food I do eat, I don't eat anything that I don't enjoy. that being said, I like a lot of junk food and don't touch it, not even in smaller portions. number one, I was a food addict, not all bandsters were, but I was and still am in some ways, but now I'm in recovery. around halloween I ate a small bag of m&m's and though it was great that I didn't eat more, thought maybe I was "cured". well, a few days later I was having a down day, I ate one small bag, felt like a loser for turning to food and ate about 6 more...I'm still learning as I go along. there are some foods (mostly sugars and carbs) that don't work well with me. so no fast food, bread, pizza, chips, ice cream, blah blah blah. they don't help me in any way. to return to my first sentence...I enjoy what foods I do eat...I'm referring to healthy and high quality protiens, veggies, fats, and minimal carbs, but that's just me. How long is the liquid diet after 1st fill
I usually fast the day of, get my fill - remain on Clear Liquids for the 1st 24 hours. The next 24 hours are for soft food or thick liquids, and the 3rd day you can return to regular diet, but start slowly. Personally, I love getting fills! I usually use that time to take it easy on my regular diet and lose more rapidly. Good Luck! Rebecca

Anyone on antidepressants or moodstabilizers
I was on Lexapro before and after my surgery (5/19/10). I recently went up on my dose so I switched to Celexa, it's all good, I haven't had any issues with my band and any meds...

lap band prejudice
Well said Lellow!!!! This is your life - this is your choice - do what is best for you!!!! Getting banded has saved my life!!!!!!!!! I would be lying if I told you that I didn't care what people say to me about me or whatever - but when it comes down to it, they can't live my life, lift my burdens, or help me anymore than I was able to help myself. I know for sure, 100% that I wouldn't have made it this far without my bad, so eff' em!!! By the way when I was heavier I had people say things to me, not that often, but the times that it happened it broke my heart. Not to mention the ridicule that I gave myself on a continual basis. Now everyone treats me like I'm some celebrity. Everyday people are stopping me and complimenting & gushing over my success - lol, I'm still the same person - it's rather strange how we treat each other. In the end, my dear, do what's best for you! If you need support, come here! God Bless, Rebecca

What a difference 3 mos make...
That is sooo Cool!!! I'm learning as I go that it's not all about the numbers. It's about our health - the alternative, where we were before was grim - I'll take where I am now anyday over where I was before. Very happy for you and your new found energy! God Bless You! Rebecca

Plastic Surgery Questions...
Thanks so much for your info! I don't care about the fat transfer, I've never had a bum, lol, so I don't know what I'd be missing - LOL. I want to wait til I'm at goal and super toned, I don't wanna have any regrets or still be jiggling after my body lift - that would be sooo lame... thanks again! Rebecca

Plastic Surgery Questions...
Hello out there... I'm 40 pounds from my personal goal. I've already spoke with a plastic surgeon about a body lift. Here are my questions: I was told that the extra fat that's still on me is "good" because it's easier for him to cut it off and to transplant it elsewhere, like my bum. Has anyone heard that it's better to be in my situation (not at goal) compared to being at or below goal before platic surgery? Any bit of insight would help me greatly! Thanks, Rebecca

what's eating you episode tonight?
I thought she was brave and honest just like everyone who particpates in that show. I myself am a Recovering food Addict. What her story did for me was instill compassion for myself and others because "any" addition is a disease and it can take many forms. It reminded me how blessed I am and to not be so hard on myself when I don't do everything "perfect". It also reminded me that it's only been six months since my surgery and I was just like her. I need to be humble, and in my opinion, so does everyone else. God Bless!

i must have lost my mind!

How often do you weigh yourself?
I weigh myself everyday and I also record it on paper. I've been doing this since May 1st, 2010, which was when I started my preop diet. 99.8% it doesn't effect me negatively, it actually helps me look at weight loss or gain very objectively - in fact I feel like this is an "experiment" (the weight record, not my band journey). Whenever I go up in weight it's either because my body is doing it's own adjustments (wheich is the most common), I've been not adhereing to my diet and or workouts (then I know to get my act together), or I've been too stressed and I need to relax or reevaluate my behaviors...

What foods get stuck in your band?
I've gotten stuck on lots of things - it can frustrating at times when, on your second bite, you're foaming at the mouth and unable to continue eating...errr. Chicken is my favorite and after my second fill I can't seem to eat it. I've tried many ways of preparing it without any real success. Steak can go don pretty easy which I though was strange. I eat shrimp and fish perfectly fine. I can eat nuts and on occassion a few bites of pasta, but my diet consists mostly of proteins and fats - very low carb. I myself am sick of getting stuck and pb'ing so for the past week I've been sticking to my basic lapband rules and really being aware of how and what I'm eating.

In the dark...
The last few weeks have been tough but I’ve been able to get past them. In the last 3 days I’ve struggled with my demons more than I have in months. I’ve been bingeing and ignoring all the lapband rules. I feel depressed, angry, and powerless. I’m being selfish. I’ve done so well and now I feel like I’m going to F everything up. I’ve been to my therapist, spoken to my friends, prayed, and I’m still waiting for relief from these feelings. Please, I need an angel to tell me its going to be alright…

Did you tell anyone or ????
Anyone who comments on my weight loss or asks in general, I just tell them the truth. I've got nothing to hide and I may even help someone in the process. However, do what makes you fell comfortable and good luck! Becks

Huge Milestone!!!
You all are soo awesome!!!! Bandster's are so good to each other! Thanks for all the support and encouragement!!! I don't have any "secrets"...I follow the lapband guidelines that my doctor suggested... I want to lose overall, 179 pounds to reach my goal of 165. So, as awesome and shocking to myself that I've lost 100 freakin pounds, I still have a bit more to go to reach goal. My friend got banded the same day that I did, she weighed 100 pounds less than me. To date, she's lost 50 pounds, which in terms of her loss and weight is roughly the same to my own progress. Good Luck to us all!!! So excited about reaching goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rebecca

Huge Milestone!!!
