  1. I just found out today that I have been approved by my insurance (Aetna) for surgery! I thought it would take forever and I was preparing myself for a denial. But it only took 2 1/2 weeks for approval! My surgery date is set for October 5...I can't wait!
  2. I'm sorry to hear about your set back! I have Aetna too...I'm still waiting to hear if I'm approved yet. I did all the required criteria like you, but the one thing I am worried about is the doctor's notes. It sounds like they want something very specific. It's so frustrating!! Good luck with your 3 month program!!
  3. My doctor says you should have a BMI of at least 35 with comorbidities, otherwise BI of 40. My insurance has additional specific criteria to qualify for surgery...still waiting to hear if I am approved for surgery.
  4. Congratulations Joy! I am still waiting to hear about insurance approval. We are about the same size...I'm 5'1", 218 now. I'm excited to hear about your journey!
  5. Congratulations! I'm approved for surgery by my surgeon...but still impatiently waiting to hear if my insurance will cover the procedure. I can't wait to hear about your journey!
  6. What a cool place to get married! I lived in Chicago for a couple of years, but I never made it down to Nauvoo. I really like LDS history.
  7. Well...technically I am LDS. But I'm pretty much what they call a Jack Mormon now, which means I don't really go to church anymore. Most of my family is still active. I hope your consult went well!
  8. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! pbrown: it sounds like you've made great progress! Thanks for the words of encouragement.
  9. Hi everyone! My name is Jessica. I'm a 28 year old social worker who lives in Salt Lake City. Hopefully, I will be having the Lap Band surgery soon...I'm waiting for the insurance to approve it. I have Aetna and I've heard that they are pretty difficult to work with. I'm crossing my fingers! I'm currently at 218 pounds and I'm only 5'1". So my goal weight is between 120-130. I've already found so much helpful information on the forum! You all have such inspirational stories to tell. I look forward to getting to know everyone!
