  1. zero for me this week. I am as tight as I can go and the loss is consistently slow. But loss is loss!!
  2. -1 for missed weigh in, and -2 this week.
  3. down 2# for me please- finally.
  4. No loss however I did get a fill Friday and Im expecting the scale to start moving!!
  5. I got my fill- they charged 250 to my flexible spending- if the insurance pays they will credit it, it they dont pay thats where it belongs anyway! Im just relieved I got a fill. The office was thrilled at my SLOW progress, and filled me and sent me on my way!!
  6. This same change has affected patients with Cigna. As of april 1st the providers have to send in medical necessity and it has to be reviewed. STINKS!!
  7. ABSOUTELY!!!! If I am anxious, nervous or really mad- it is tighter!!
  8. I would be willing to pay for my journal- This is the only place I kept it- Dumb I know but it was easy!!
  9. I must have missed something- Where did the journal component go?h
  10. I have a fill scheduled tomorrow- It was scheduled 3/31!! I called monday 4/16 to verify- Ins company has no record of receiving request for it. Office says they sent it 4/4. so it gets resent on 4/17!! The office calls and says that precert from my ppo has not been recieved. They want to reschedule my fill! BS!!!!! they said even though I will pay for it- they have to have denial to allow that! NOT SO!! i called today and the ins said, it was not resubmitted as rush- I could go just realize that i may have to pay for it if medical review finds not medically necessary. Im getting my fill in the am- ins or pay- THATS not fair- it is NOT in my control!! Sorry for the rant... Any suggestions? Am I out of line??
  11. no loss for last 2 weeks. Thankgoodness I go for a fill friday- Ive been fearful of slippage so Ive not had many fills and inturn not losing!! IM GOING-
  12. Im not putting my band or port at risk!! NOT to mention my health!!! Playin with fire baby....... you WILL get burned!!
  13. I walk away and come back and all is better. When you start eating take a bite, wait 3-5 minutes and take another. Sometimes if Im having trouble I get up and clean the dishes , get drinks or little kitchen errand type activities until my stoma relaxes. Sometimes I start the dryer or fold a load of clothes and then all is ok.
  14. Some might say he is lucky, but from our experience and we know more than 15 GBP pts and NONE of them have had dumping. His only long term supplements are MVI with Fe and B12 sublingual. He eats everything and has NO Problems!!! DH would NOT have been a good candidate for band- He will not abide by the rules. His surgeon told him he would have dumping with sugar- so when he was able he tried it- Too bad he doesnt have dumping!! He has lost 250# and is now 5-6 yrs out and has maintained it well and eats any and everything! Complications are higher- REMEMBER these are the the worst surgical candidates in the world for ANY surgery. They are death waiting to happen whether it is tonsillectomy or major surgery!! This is a life saving move why else would someone do such drastic changes!! It truly is a personal decision if you can live with the rules of either and getting thru the post op on either is the most critical thing.
  15. I reserve the calories from alcohol to eating out- It helps relax my stoma and I have never had a stuck, slime or PB at a meal when Ive had some alcohol- That is very important to me if there are alot of people at the table- Especially those who dont know!! Im sure there are those who replace eating with drinking- Not my personality. Learning the moderation thing is an ongoing lesson!
  16. Your husband is 100% correct!! *warm first helps relax the stoma *first bite syndrome DOES exist SLOW DOWN and nibble dont eat. *anxiety/tension DOES increase tightness which increases PBs *a partial glass of wine will also help especially if your going out and dont want to PB with a crowd. *I dont get a full signal I get hiccups them BOOM TOO FULL!! I stop when hunger (Tummy growling) goes away.
  17. We have one of each (RNY and Lapband) in our house!! I did not qualify for RNY. We have both done well. Secretly Im envious of his RNY. It wont slip, cant lose it, more forgiving of bad choices since it has malabsorptive component, no stuck or PB, and now that he is past 6mos (5 yrs) his chances of complications goes way down. If I ever lose my band I WILL have a gastric sleeve or other procedure- IM NOT GOING back to fat!! Dont let people scare you. This is a lapband support board not RNY. Alot of people make judgements and statements that I have not found to be true of a pt with RNY. NEVER generalize with either- they both have pros and cons. PERSONAL CHOICE- Good Luck!!

Well.... my good girl friend found out thru my medical record from endocrine that I had lap band. She claimed hurt- I explained it was because she was not supportive and called it the easy way out that she did not get the priviledge of knowing. All seems well, she is obsessive with low carb she will get over not knowing of my lapband. she wasnt there for my hyst why would she think she would be there for my lapband. I am fearful of my 3rd fill since Dr Hamn told me repeated poking can wear out the port, AND I dont want to be too tight and risk a slippage. I rescheduled from 3/30 to 4/20- I know that will slow down my loss but Im ok with that.

  20. You may not be eating enough solid protein. Increase solid intake wait one hour before drinking and drink a glass of water when you get crazy hungry. Is the crazy hungry head or stomach hunger? I get intense stomach hunger, growling and hiccups but thats NOT when I expereince the crazy hungry head hunger. Amazing I can turn off the growling and physical hunger but if the head hunger hits Im in trouble!! Havent beat that demon yet! Luckily my band keeps it in check. Good luck!
  21. I cautiously enter this information since we all lose at different rates. The comparison can kill your momentum and make you think your not losing fast enough. I felt SOOO BAD reading how fast others are losing. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I finally realized alot has to do with how much you have to loose. I am losing 2-3 pounds per month which, when I think back to my PRE-OP days the surgeon said 1-2 pound per week was as fast as he wanted. AND if Im losing in that guideline I dont need a fill. ALl the surgeons are different, but mine prefers slow and steady- good thing cause thats all Ive been able to do!!
  22. Weigh me in at 185 please.
