  2. ME ME!!! I'm a 23rd band baby my lovely pre-op liquid diet starts tomorrow!!
  3. I've never been thin, or probaly even "average" weight. I've always been fat. But I have NO IDEA what I look like! In my mind's eye, I am average. I KNOW that I am fat, I just don't know what that looks like. When I see pictures of myself or catch a glimpse of my full body, I am shocked/surprised/dimayed. I always say "Why didn't someone TELL me I'm this fat?!?!" Hopefully this will change!!
  4. Thank you for sharing! I'm drooling over some of them! I will definitely have to invest in a crock pot
  5. eh...it didn't REALLY offend me. I agree that the stereotypes were a little over the top. The overeating, the breaking the chair etc etc. The main thing that made me cringe was looking at her wondering if that is what I look like! lol I have no concept of what I truly look like!
  6. LOL crazy!!! I really wonder if the doc is having me start tomorrow or Monday...I guess I will find out in a few hours!! :sifone:
  7. I'm starting it Saturday! I've read (on one of these threads) that it has a Play-Doh like after taste lol I will check in on Saturday to give my review
  8. Congrats! I know you've been waiting to hear!
  9. I start mine on Saturday, 6 Optifast shakes a day! I too have been wondering how I will be able to do it without cheating, obviously I have cheated in the past! lol But like another response said, I do NOT want to be one of those people who wake up in the recovery room with NO band because I cheated! Also, I think about the fact that I will be that much closed to my goal
  10. I'm following you now! Here is the link to mine if you're interested! I'm with the band...
  11. Thank you Debbie! Tha poem is great! I have my pre-op appt Friday then start my 2 week diet on Saturday, counting down to Feb 23rd!!!
  12. I haven't seen anyone mention this, but I was wondering if anyone has problems with deli meat once past the mush stage? I was thinking that slices of turkey or ham would be good protein...am I right?
  13. I just saw something very funny but very scary! I decided to what if any Lap Band books there were on Ebay. What did I find? An Inamed Lap Band TUBING kit as well as all of the laproscopic instruments needed for LP surgery!!!! Funny but scary huh? I just have visions in my head of "Doctors" in back alleys performing WLS!!!
  14. that I like yogurt...but I just don't! Has anyone found a good one that isn't so...yogurt tasting? lol One that doesn't have the tang/sour taste? THANKS!
  15. I am SOOO ready to start my pre-op diet in about a week. HOWEVER..... I do find myself with a slight case of last supper-itis  I am not necessarily OVER eating. But I definitely take one meal of the day to indulge the fat girl who is going away. Sure, I am fully aware of the fact that this is counter-productive. But I still need to "mourn" & say good bye to something that has been with me for so long. Sadly enough, well not sadly lol but WEIRD enough, since I started my farewell party, I have lost 2.5 pounds lol And before someone gets mad at me, I am not condoning last supper behavior, I am merely sharing my experience :smile2:
  16. mine is the 23rd!! there is a group for February bandsters! LAP-BAND <---- click there!
  17. I've been TRYING to quit since New Years, I usually make it until the weekend then I fall off the wagon with a vengence! lol I will say that the surgeon never said anything to me about quitting, and yes I did put it on my form! The reason I am trying to quit is because of the better healing time, keeping as much collagen & elasticity in my skin as possible, not to mention being so nervous about going under I'd like to be as healthy as possible the day of surgery!! Good luck to you!
  18. :cursing::thumbup::scared2::thumbup: !!!whoo hoo!!!
  19. I start mine Feb 6. I have a choice, either 6 Optifast shakes a day & 1 bar or 5 shakes & 2 bars, plus any SF jello ice pops crystal light etc that I want. I think that it is funny how varied these pre-op diets are!
  20. "little, loud and obnoxious and can take a hit" ROFL!! :cursing: too freaking funny
  21. the best advice someone gave me at the start of my journey was "Don't get too caught up in other peoples journeys" and don't forget that there are the people out there that know everything (or think they do!) and that will talk down to you...trust your instincts! :cursing:
  22. :cursing: a month from today and i'll be banded!!! whoa! countdown to pre-op diet!! yikes!! can i use a few more exclamation points?!?! lol i'm getting scared & nervous & anxious & crazy!!
  23. Thanks everyone! It will be difficult avoiding beer, but I am so nervous about something happening I think I will be fine! I'm on the fence about actually going, it will probably be a game time decision! :cursing:
  24. I'm not post surgery, but I have RLS. In the medical community views on RLS are split 50/50, those who believe in it and those who think it's a load of BS. Also that it is very hard to determine a reason for it. HOWEVER...most people who have it also have Thyroid problems, which I do! I'm not a doctor so I'm not diagnosing you But maybe it's worth a look?
  25. My lovely boyfriend just informed me that we are going away for the weekend 11 days after I get banded! WTF?!?! My problems with this are as follows: 1. Am I going to be ok to go? How long before you were able to resume normal activities? 2. The couple we are going with are our drinking buddies (we once went on a trip just to bar hop in Philly lol) I am going to have to dig deep to have the will power to avoid drinking the sweet nectar called beer! 3. Eating...thankfully the hotel where we are staying has fridges in the room...but 11 days out, I will prob still be on liquids right? Not to mention 2 days that is 6 meals in restaurants, how do I handle the waitstaff? Bleh maybe I shouldn't even go, I don't want to be a hinderance but then again I don't want to be a hermit! HELP!!!
