I never thought I would consider weight loss surgery, let alone make the decision to do it.  In March 2007 my doctor unprompted and unprovoked, told me I need to get my stomach stapled.  He said that if I didn't I would die before I hit 40.  I was 22 at the time.  I cried after that appointment.  I was angry for so many reasons.  One of the reasons being that I was in the process of auditioning for the Biggest Loser and was feeling positive about my potential weight loss.  Needless to say, it came down to me and one other woman for the last spot in that season (the one where there was 3 trainers and 3 teams) and I wasn't chosen.  In July of that year I decided to invest in a 24 Hour Fitness personal trainer.  I went from my highest weight of 295 to 270-275 in several months.  I haven't had a trainer for some time now, but I've managed to keep the weight off for the most part.  I joined Weight Watchers for the 4th or 5th time in summer of 2008 and my weight had been fluctuating through the entire experience, but I was determined to do it "on my own." My lowest weight with WW was 258 on April 28, 2009.  It is now 5 months later and I am up to 280.  My dad brought up the Lap Band about a month ago.  His boss had the surgery and has lost 80 lbs over the past year.  I cried when he brought it up and immediately shot down the idea.  Little did I know I would start dreaming about it.  Dreaming about it caused me to think about the idea.  I started doing my research and that all it took.  I decided that getting the Lap Band was the best thing I could do for myself.  I spoke with my dad's boss to answer any questions that I had and ease any fears, but I knew I was going to get the surgery no matter what.  I’ve decided to take control and change my life.  I’m ready to live.  I’m ready to be happy. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
