  1. Call up your provider and ask! I have Verizon and i called and spoke with them. I found out its cheaper to text than to call, but its still expensive! Most carriers have international plans but I don't think it's worth it. I just hope I get good wifi at the hotel
  2. I cannot afford my airline ticket right now. I'm going to be sleeved on June 10th and cannot buy my ticket until the week before. When I checked airlines a month ago it was around 500. Now price are 650 or more. I'm so afraid of what the price will be a week from now! Wish I had the money to purchase now.
  3. I'm am so glad to read your story because I am going to be sleeved by Dr. Garcia at Florence hospital on June 10th. Hoping to meet some people down there because I am going by myself.
  4. So happy to hear! I'm getting excited now. Can't wait!
  5. I finally decided on Dr. Garcia at Florence hospital. I've debated for months between him and Dr. Aceves but I need the extra money towards bills etc. so I am going with Garcia. I am going on the 10th by myself and I'm hoping to find some people on here going at the same time.
  6. I've had two surgeries where I had no food and water after going to bed. They had no problems with my veins. Also most experienced nurses should not have trouble with veins. For some reason a lot of people on here are having problems with Mexico nurses and veins. Makes me wonder if they have had any training.
  7. Thanks do much for the details. I'm a little worried about the iv and that the room was hot. Makes me wonder if there's no air conditioner in the rooms.
  8. A lot of details lol such as how are the nurses? Do they seem to know what their doing with iv etc.? How is the noise level there, are the nurses loud at night, do you hear a lot of outside noise? Do they give you pain meds, are they quick to respond to your calls? How is the room tempature, if it's too hot do they just stick a fan in there or is each room air conditioned and controlled to your needs? How often does an actual doctor check on you and are you able to get a hold of a doctor once you are back at the hotel?
  9. I am leaning more towards choosing Garcia as my doctor since he is cheaper and I can really use the extra money towards something else. I was hoping to find more people on here that used Dr. Garcia at florence hospital because that's where I want to go. Not Mi hospital. I've read lots of people experiences in that one.
  10. How did you miss your flight? I've never flown before and missing my flight worries me. I'll have to make sure I get there super early.
  11. Please let us know what they find out.
  12. If I go with Garcia I want to have it at Florence hospital.
  13. I'm pretty sure I have that option. I had to delay it because I already had a loan from them and I paid it off early a few days ago. I forgot I had to wait to borrow from them for at least 15 days.
  14. I don't know! I still cannot decide lol! It's between Aceves and Garcia. I really want Aceves because I've not read anything bad about him plus it's in an actual hospital, but at the same time I want Garcia because he's cheaper and I've only read bad things about the nurses, not him. I did go apply for my passport today. They are saying I won't get it until June 14th, but I'm hoping its earlier than that. I didn't have the money to expedite it but I did overnight the application.
  15. Maybe that's what they do now lol. It's been a while since I borrowed from it.
  16. Found out today I have to wait 15 days from today to borrow from my 401k (that's how I'm paying for surgery) and that will not be until June 3rd or so and that's when I was hoping to go to Mexico. I cannot remember how long it takes to get the money in the mail from my 401k so I have decided to wait and try to go to Mexico June 10th. I also plan on using that money for my down payment so I hope I can get a surgery date that next week lol. I'm also working on my passport and hopefully that extra week wait will be long enough to get my passport.
  17. Maybe tell them about the surgery but not about Mexico. At least not until you have the money lol.
  18. Which hospital were you sleeved at? How was it coming back across the border?
  19. I've found a passport office that does walk ins. Will be going there next week. I called several post offices and they are all quoting 3 weeks or more before I can even get an appointment!
  20. I won't be able to get mine because even if I do everything online, I still have to go to the post office just to sign the documents in front of someone and they make you set up an appointment with them. Unfortunately their appointments are 3 week wait! Then another 3 to 5 weeks to receive the passport. That will be about 2 months away and I plan on going 1st week of June. I really hope I don't get held up when I leave Mexico. I do have my birth certificate and a couple of photo id's (drivers license work id etc.).
