  1. How can I tell if I have a slipped band? I had dinner the other night...around bed time tried to go to sleep. Felt like I had heartburn. Slept propped up on pillows. Throughout the night, keept feeling a "throb" of pain...not horrible pain, but painful none the less. Lasted until lunch the next day. Ate something small and mushy...felt fine after. Ate dinner last night and pain "throb" was back and still going on. I'm not having any trouble keeping anything down... Thanks in advance for the information! -Frog

Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

Just found this today...I would also like to join! Is it too late??
  3. My doc told me that if it could be sucked through my teeth it counted as liquid... I blended Bean with Bacon soup and sprinkled some cheese on it. OMG it was sooo good. I used yogurt and pudding as well.

    Great Dr. visit!

    Congratulations! That is fantastic!

Is this normal? 6 days out..

For questions 1 and 4 I can't answer you. I didn't have any odd pains. I had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago and this was actually less painful than that was. I had weird pains in my shoulder (found out it was from the gas) with that surgery, but got VERY lucky and had NO pain from this one! 2. I am adding some things to my Protein shakes (1/2 banana, spoon of peanut butter).. they go down ok, is that ok? My doctor said as long as it can be blended it was no problem. I'm sure it's different for all docs. I was blending Bean with Bacon soup to make liquid! 3. Some times I get this hiccup/burp feeling.. it takes a few minutes, but can burp and it goes away. I got this too. I slowly put pressure on my stomach and it helps the burp come out! I'm turning into the burp queen! :scared2: Banded 03/31/2010
  6. I had surgery on Wed, 3/31 and went back to work on Tues, 4/6. I have a fairly sedentary job...so, no biggie for me to sit there vs sitting at home.
  7. You can donate, sell or pass them on to other bandsters who might be needing smaller sizes, than what they currently wear, in the near future!

anyone else getting banded on 3/31?

Variety indeed! Mine was all liquid (not just clear) for 1 week post-op. Then mushies for the next 3 weeks. I'm coming up on my 3rd week of mushies. Micaela1988 congratulations on 30+ down!!! I went up 4 lbs when I started eating mushies. Was about to freak out when a voice in my head reminded me that the doctor told me (as well as many bandsters before me) that I would go up a little when I started eating again! It is now coming off at about a pound every 3 days. I'm officially down 21.6.

anyone else getting banded on 3/31?

I use BSN Lean Dessert Protein. It actually tastes pretty good. My 5-yo likes it! I have been using chocolate Fudge pudding, Whipped vanilla and banana Cream. They also have Chocolate Coconut, Cinnamon Bun, and Banana Nut. -Frog

anyone else getting banded on 3/31?

Hello fellow 3/31 Bandsters! I was discharged on 4/1 and have had no problems. I had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago and this was not much different than that! mustlose, I have 4 incisions that are probably 1/2 in to 1 in long. My port incision is 2 in long. Also, if I lightly apply pressure to it, I can feel the port. -Frog

    protein shakes

I went to GNC last night to look at the vraious brands they had. The gal working there made me two samples...both using Amplify Protein and mixed with some kind of soy yogurt stuff...whether it was soy milk based yogurt or what I don't remember. Cookies and Cream was a bit sweet (would be good to satisfy a sweet craving). Creamy chocolate...HOLY CRAP! It was GOOOOOD. I can see mixing various berries, bananas etc into it and making different flavors! Neither left any kind of aftertaste. I even had my friend try them and she thought they were good. My 5yr old finished them off! -Frog

    protein shakes

I'm doing the sample packs you can buy. The prices I've found range from $10 to $20 depending on the company and number of packages. I found some IDS MultiPro sample packages for 1.99 ea. To order 6 of them would be $11.94...shipping is $7.95 (they have a shipping rate based on the $$'s you spend). I figured $50 bucks for a bunch of different packets to try was worth it to find one I like. Haven't tried any of them yet. Kind of like make33 said, I don't want to get a ginormous tub only to find out I hate it and have to throw it away. I'm not the sort that can make myself drink something if it is gross...it'll make me sick. -Frog

    protein shakes

I know that I'm not the one who asked...but I would like to thank you all for the information just the same. I am also looking to test drive a few to see what I can stand to drink. My nutritionist recommended BSN Lean Dessert Protein (I don't know if it is isolate or not)...and someone else recommended unjury. I found that you can get sample packs of most of them...I will be ordering and taste testing them all in the next week or so! Thanks again. -Frog

    Newbie!

I'm a 39yo single mother to a 5yo...Tadpole. I want to get healthy to see my sweet Tadpole blossom! I've been lurking on this site for about a year. Found it while researching LB surgery. Turns out, I had insurance that would, under no circumstances pay for the surgery. I have since changed insurances and the new one will pay if it is deemed medically necessary. I'm thinking that more than 10yrs with a 40+ BMI makes me a great candidate! I finished my last appointment yesterday...now my paperwork is being submitted to the insurance company! Here's hoping!!! I did have a thought and wonder if anyone here has thought or tried the same thing...On the chance that the insurance company will come back and say I need a 60, 90 or whatever number of days medically supervised diet program first...what is to stop me from starting one now? I mean, if they are going to take 6 to 12 weeks to decide...I could that far into a medically supervised program already. Thanks for the advice! -Frog Welcome to my blog: Life on My LilyPad!
  16. You all are great to try and work around me. I talked with my friend and she will keep Tadpole for me on "meeting" night. We have a prior commitment on Tuesday nights...otherwise, any night is good for me. That is awesome. My philosophy in life is "it's not my information to share"...so no worries here! -Frog
  17. I'm actually cursed with a double whammy! Not only do I work but I'm also a single mom. Can't meet in the day and have no dad to hand Tadpole to. However, I'm sure I could talk a friend into sitting with Tadpole for a hour or two in the evening. This does prompt a question for me. Are our secret identities safe? I have not, nor do I plan to, tell anyone that I am doing this! I don't want to deal with all the negative comments that so many people have about WLS! -Frog
  18. We were there at the same time. My appt was at 1010. I'm definitely doing it... I'm working on all the pre-approval appointments. Have the Psych and Dietary evals to finish...later this week. Once done, we shall see what the insurance has to say.
  19. I had my appointment this morning. He basically said the same stuff as in the seminar. I agree with lbndoc...I don't care if he has a lot to say or not. If he is a great surgeon that if fine with me! I did see a note on the bulletin board that they are trying to put together a support group down here in SV. Gave name and number to call if interested. -Frog
  20. I went to his seminar earlier this month. I am meeting with him on Monday! I can give you an impression on Monday afternoon!
