  1. The place I am having my Surgery done also does the Sleeve. My ins is BCBS of NC. When I called them on the phone they told me that they would cover the Sleeve but when I talk to the lady that handles the INS part she said that BCBS of NC will tell ya that over the phone but when she submits the paperwork they never approve it. I think right now there is only 3 or 4 ins companies that will cover the Sleeve. Luke
  2. My Ins requires 3 doctor visits and I have to show I am willing to change my lifestyle.
  3. I got the same info from my doctors. They do GBP, LapBand and the Sleeve. Luke
  4. Everyone in my family has been very supportive. The only issues I have had are my friends.
  5. Don't let it bother you I do the same thing myself. I can walk everyday and eat great and then weigh and I will have gained some weight. But if you just keep at it you will see the weight fall off. Luke
  6. Good luck with your journey. I just had my 1st meeting with the Doctors last Thursday. I have my sleep Study and Psyco evaluation scheduled. Blood work has been done and I have my next meeting with the doctors on Oct 14 and then my first meeting with the Dietitian on Oct 21st. Luke
  7. I'm not really a big snacker nor do I really care much about sweets. My biggest issues are portion sizes and the types of food I eat. I know that with either Surgery I have to make a life style change and that the weight is not just going to fall off. I have to mentally teach myself that if I mess up one time its not the end of the world and to keep on working hard.
  8. This is all very interesting info.
  9. I am not a very patient person when it comes to weight loss. I like to see results in a short time. I can do good on a diet. I just have a hard time sticking to one after I hit the plateau. I guess everyone is different as I see lots of different results. I see so many different results with the LapBand it kinda makes me wonder if it will work for me.
  10. The only person that I would even listen to other than the Doctors is my Wife. She supports me 100% on which Surgery I choose. She is just really scared of me getting the Gastic Bypass.
  11. Ive been on a Low Cal diet now for 5 weeks and have lost 34 pounds. The Doc told me thursday that I just need to lose 17 pounds before Surgery.
  12. My Ins will cover both LapBand and Gastric (RNY). I had my first visit with the Doctor Thursday. With the weight I need to lose he is really pushing me to do Gastic. Now hes not being overly pushy I can just tell that he really thinks Gastric will be better for me. I haven't totally decided on which route to go but I still feel like the LapBand would be better for me. Guess I will wait and decide when I actually get to talk to the Surgeon that is doing the Surgery. Luke
  13. You should do what makes you happy and no one else. My friends are doing to same to me and I haven't talked to them in over a week. Either they support me or there not real friends. Luke
  14. Awsome job on your weight loss.
  15. Good luck on your life changing journey
  16. Congrats to both of you. Good luck on your journey
  17. Ya what they sent you was probably just a statement and not an actual bill. Luke
  18. Sounds like your doing great. Keep up the good work. Luke
  19. I have my first appointment with the Weightloss Doc this Thursday @ 9am.
  20. This is what scares me about the Bypass.
  21. I like the fact that the Band is not permanent but I like that you lose the weight faster with the Bypass.
  22. My name is Luke and I'm 31 and have been over weight my whole life. I have just been approved through my INS to get the weight lose surgery. I'm still undecided on either the Lap Band or Gastric Bypass but I'm leaning towards Lap Band. My highest weight was 385 back about 5 yrs ago. I am currently on a low cal diet and I weight 345. Luke
