I started checking into the Lap Band in 2006, when I was uninsured. I had been trying all sorts of diets for several years, but could never lose the excess weight AND keep it off. I came very close to getting the surgery in 2007, but the physician I had at that time decided I should diet for another year, just to see if I could do it myself. As the next few years passed, I moved to AZ and got a desk job-which did not help with my quest for permanent weight loss. I decided to give it one more try one evening in June, as I was stuffing my face with chips watching a news program for healthy living. Dr Nirmul was on the show, talking about True Results and the Lap Band. I decided to give them a call, plus one other office I saw on television the day before. True Results called me back first thing the next morning, and scheduled an appointment for me to come in and find out more about the Lap Band. The day of the appointment, they submitted all of the information to my insurance company, and got the requirements of 4 months of supervised weight loss visits and a few nutrition education classes, plus a cardiac stress test. When all of that was complete, the insurance company came back with a YES for the surgery!! I had surgery done December 31, and am doing well, aside from a few bouts of awful nausea, three nausea medications, and one trip to the ER post op for dehydration. However, I am keeping my eye on the prize, and am doing everything I can to be sure this is a great tool to help me be successful.
