  1. We are also trying to teach our son about things that we keep private. A new thing for a 4 year old and thats another reason we have not mentioned weight loss. We are a private family and are NOT telling anyone other than family. Oh and the vast number of strangers on the internet!
  2. I hear you! My son is 4 1/2 and last month his Daddy got banded and this Wednesday his Mommy will be gettting banded. With my husband we told him that Daddy was getting his tummy fixed. It was enough for him, he didnt ask what needed fixing. Recovery was hard for my husband so it was hard on my son too, he was very good and caring of Daddys booboos but was sad about it because he knew his Dad hurt. Now I am worried that I will put him through that worry again. My only hope is that when he is older he wont remember much of this, and will just know that his Mom and Dad are normal, not obese and can run around with him at the park and be happy. I want to be a good example for him and right now I am not being so big.
  3. I am getting banded this Wednesday (the day before thanksgiving) and have been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks now. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for my family of 10 last night. I did not want my son to miss out on the holliday. It was not that bad at all.
  4. Thanks for the replys! I have surgery this Wednesday only 3 days away now. So hard to believe its actually going to happen! I have ALWAYS been big, since I was about 10 years old. My biggest was in 1998 when I was around 310 I can not belive I am 208 now and have done it by myself HOWEVER its taken a LONG time and I have gone up and down and up and down inbetween. So I now hope that by the time I have my 45th birthday next June I will be around 16o or so. I had a son late in life and I need all the energy I can muster up to keep up with him (he's 4 1/2 will be 5 in june).
  5. Just wondering if there are any others like me? I have about 50 pounds to loose and am 44 years old.
  6. Yes we will make it. And right now I am making Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people who woll be comming over tomorrow to EAT, I invited them (my family) we are doing an early Thanksgiving dinner since I am banded the day before I didnt think Id be wanting company. I am doing the stuffing now, then will get the Turkey ready for the oven first thing in the morning. Its not bad at all, I am drinking my iceopure and so far so good.
  7. yes, both great suggestions thank you. And posting here helps....just needed to vent!
  8. Hello all. Well I am 10 days into my liquid diet (4 to go till surgery day) and I feel ROTTEN. Feels like I am getting a head cold, I am super weak and to top it all off having a super bad crampy period right now. Yuck, all I want to do is crawl into bed...I hope I start feeling better the last thing I want is to have my surgery postponed again! I think I feel extra weak due to no food so I ate a bit more today than I have in a while, maybe the extra calories will help!
  9. My surgery will cost us $15,500 for the whole thing. Including all of the doctors visits, surgery, fills the WHOLE thing. The band itself could NO WAY be that much!
  10. So glad you are OK Mellow! How are you feeling today? I am getting sooooooooo excited for my day....my husband had his first fill and is doing better with some restriction now I cant wait to NOT BE HUNGRY! I am soooooo hungry all the time.
  11. Hey! I hear you with the Thanksgiving food talk but I will one up you. My surgery is the day before Thanksgiving so I decided (What was I thinking) to invite my family over this Saturday for Thanksgiving. Yes I am cooking up the full on Turkey meal for my family this Saturday. God....give me strength!
  12. You lost 17.4 in 7 days?? OMG AMAZING well done! WOW ... so just 3 protein shakes? What kind are you having??
  13. Chasidy, The pre op diet is hell. I get no food at all just Protein drinks for 2 weeks. I am 7 days now till surgery and have cheeted every day. I have spoken to my Dr about it and hes so casual about it all I wonder why I am even doing a pre op. But I eat whole wheat crackers every day around 4pm so I dont throw up. Just 2 crackers but its enough to get me through the night. What is getting me to sleep at night is the fat free sugar free pudding! Its sooo filling I love it! I eat "desert" every night at about 8pm and it helps me sleep. pudding is on my diet because I have an alotment of fat free milk, would that help you? When is your surgery?
  14. My sweetest angel we are such soul mates I adore you. And we can even do this crazy band thing together! I am proud of you too...you have come such a long way and its so great to see you finally feeling better. 8 days and counting, then we will both be banded! :smile2::w00t:
  15. melloways...howd all the blood work come out? Must be good! Congrats on the surgery!
  16. I think it depends on your doc fly. My husband had 3 weeks liquid only...he did GREAT! I have the same doc but only have to do 2 weeks liquid only. Some doc's just do one day clear liquid and no other diet so I am not sure? Its very odd to find such drastic differences in diets.
  17. Every once an a while I get so nausious I need a cracker, so I eat a few so I dont throw up. I am just going into the 2nd week of my liquid diet.
  18. People are rude and clueless, especially if they are skinny. If you dont tell anyone they wont have the opportunity to hurt you. Ignore them, be strong and stop telling people.
  19. I here you about getting everything done. Seems like I am running out of everything right now and my Costco/Grocery store list is soooo big. Not to mention making sure I am stocked up on all the liquid diet stuff! This is a VERY expencive diet! It will work!
  20. Kells....I am 44 yrs old another 40 something here! I have been BIG forever! Since I was about 8 actually. So, I am looking forward to being OLD and healthy! And skinny  Mello....any news on the bloodwork?
  21. Every holliday I wind up promising myself I will not gain weight and every holliday I gain weight! Last Christmas was the worse....right after xmas day we went on a cruise for a week so that piled on even more pounds. This year I WILL LOOSE!
  22. Melloways...soooo sorry. My husbands band was postponed because of bad blood work too. Turned out it was one of the medications he was on and once he stopped he was OK. What test was abnormal? My husbands was sodium and that can really mess with your heart. Now 3 weeks later hes banded and his sodium level is normal. They just had to switch his meds.....maybe thats what will happen to you?
  23. Hey! Let me know how your follow up goes! What time is your appointment? They want me to stop by and weigh tomorrow (AGAIN) not sure why and I am trying to get out of it as Mary weighed me last week but Catherine said in an email I need to stop in.
  24. My surgery is the day before thanksgiving and its normally my holliday meal to cook for my family. They are so supportive and we have just decided to skip it this year....isnt that great! I was planning on cooking as much of it as possible the day before but now I am in the clear!
