  1. Congrats! I am sure you are thrilled! I know my husband was when they removed his and he peed! What a relief!
  2. Wow thats such FAST weight loss! Congrats! I have lost as well but most of it was lost before the surgery. I was on and off the liquid diet 3 times because my surgery date kept changing and now I have lost 9 post op. I am on the other hand, dissapointed because I am now 3 weeks post op and figured I would have lost more than 9 pounds. My post op diet was strict too....5 days clear liquids, 7 days full liquids, 7 days mushies and 7 days soft foods, so I am not even in the soft food part! I am thankfull for my loss and get my first fill right after Christmas, hope that helps speed things up!
  3. My husband was sent home with a cathedar...he had it in a full week. When they took it out they filled him up with water first then if he could pee it out on his own (and he did) they would send him home if not they would have putten it back in sent him home for another week then tried again. It's a side effect of the anestesia. Thank GOD he got it out, I hear that some posple have to wear cathedars forever (not after lap band but because of other medical conditions). Bummer!
  4. You just have to suck it up and wait! It's better because you will stay fuller and not over strech your poutch!
  5. I drank (and still do) Isopure. My surgery was out patient on 11.25 at noon so by 5pm I was sipping my first protein. It's good 40g protein and only 160 cal. I also drank (drink....still do) vitamin water. I lived on these 2 things the first 5 days.
  6. Well I went up 3 pounds last week, why? I have no idea I am on mushies now but being super good. Anyway I was at 200.6 and now I am at 201 so 2 more pounds to meet my onederland Christmas Eve goal......fingers crossed!!!
  7. Hey dont feel behind......I was banded 11-25 and dont go for my first fill till after Xmas. It's all individual. Actually my Dr wanted me to get a fill before Xmas while I was still on soft foods. I said no way....I want to know what it feels like to eat normal food before my fill, otherwise how will I be able to see a difference? I feel some restriction already even though I have nothing in my band now. I can just feel the band in there.
  8. Hello! I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I hear you! I am sticking to protein shakes, iceopure, yogurt, popsicles, blened turkey meatloaf, pudding...thats about it so far....I did blend up some spaggetti and meat sauce, that was yumo.
  9. hmmmm I forget his name but know exactly who you are talking about he did ny nose deal too...that was the worse kind of YUCK. Hes seems like hes the flunkie who has to do things like "the nose" and "fills". How are you feeling? How many cc's did he put in? Could you choose or did he have an oppinion on where to start? You are on normal food now right?
  10. Go figure! I actually just got an email back from Jill clarifying the dates for me I was getting all confuzed...you know how they write it on that form it goes from days to weeks ... anyway maybe it was just a blond moment as my husband likes to call it
  11. Hi Tom...welcome....wonderfull choice. I am 44 and have been big forever. I decide the same thing you did so I did take control and was banded 3 weeks ago. I hope by the time I am 45 (officially middle aged in my book) at least I will be a healthy weight. My birthday is June so thats my goal. My hubbie did it too and we paid cash (agree with your wifes Mexico oppinion) I dont have any great ideas about financing but how about calling your bank and asking about loans?
  12. Thinkoflaura....as long as you puree the chili its fine....it will wind up like babyfood.
  13. I can blend up just about anything. I have blended all kinds of home made soups, chili & chicken noodle. I blended spagetti with turkey meat sauce and then there are the regular cottage cheese, yogurt, oatmeal, pudding. A yummy treat is a fat free yogurt blended with FROZEN fruit....the texture is like ice cream...heaven!
  14. Time...see thats so funny I can have meat on my blended stage, actually the first think I pureed was beef.....I got out my baby food recipes that I fed my son... when he was a baby. Yum...wonder why you can not blend the meat?
  15. I am curious about your doctors guidelines after surgery. Mine: Clear liquids for 4 days Full liquids for 10 more days Mushies for 2 full weeks Soft foods for one more week Very strict in my oppinion but I'd love you to share your doctors rules! :tt2::thumbup::wink:
  16. I hate milk too! But I LOVE Lactaid milk! Try it...I get the no fat, its sweet and yummy. Not like regular no fat milk AT ALL!
  17. Happy.... hows it going? feeling all better now that the flu is gone? My hubbie had his first throw up 2 nights ago while eating soba noodles (not many noodles mostly broth) but it was enough..yuckie! Mello....wow you had 2cc's in u? you didnt know? I am a little scared to get my first fill lately I have been feeling odd...like I can feel the band or something ... hard to explain but I have had no appitite today. And I love the walk idea you have I am so jealous! I'd love to walk the streets of NY with you!!!! especially this time of year!
  18. I still have a protein shake for breakfast even though I could have oatmeal or something. I have 2 scoops of egg protein so its 220 cal and 50g protein. I mix it with LOTS of water and sip on it for like 2 hours before its finnished. I think its a great way to get the protein AND the water!
  19. I havent had port pain in a few weeks....I only had it a few days just after surgery. But to help you we do need to know when your surgery was.
  20. I know mushies are HARD I just had lunch. A wasa cracker with salmon spread on it (can salmon, lemon, lite mayo) a wasa cracker is the kind you would give to a teething toddler they melt in your mouth even though they are crunchy so a great treat on the mushie phase. I havent had any mashed potatoes yet...I am trying to stay away from carbs however since I am cooking for my family still I have blended spagetti and meat sauce it tasted great!
  21. I was banded 11/25 and do not get a fill till the end of Dec (after xmas) so ya I am hungry!
  22. I give you guys credit for trusting the docs in Mexico...I just couldnt do it....and I am in San Diego, just an hours drive away! But something about Mexico just dosent settle well with me. My surgery cost us $16,500 each (mu husband was banded too) WORTH EVERY PEENNY!
  23. Yahoo for you! CONGRATULATIONS for getting to WONDERLAND! I can not wait for my turn!
  24. I agree mz and that is the biggest reason I chose not to tell anyone other than my family. They are all skinny and I know they would support me, my friends have been my friends for a very long time but they would not understand....especially since they knew me when I was 3oo+ they would just say oh you can do the rest on your own! But the simple fact is that I couldnt, I want to be healthy for mu husband and son....they are my whole world I adore them and want to be around enjoying them as long as I possibly can!
  25. Oh for sure....before my band I would have eaten the whole tray! I am going to have one today but am saving it till tonight so I am less likely to eat more than that!
