  1. Wow I have not posted here in a while! I will be banded 1 year in just 10 days! AHHH! The time has FLOWN by! I LOVE my band, it was the best choice for me and the best thing I have ever done in my life after dieting since I was like 10 years old! Now I have lost 50 pounds and know it would be super hard to get that all back on. I still want to loose some more and am bummed that I could not have done more in a year. It's hard for me to stop beating myself up about that and just move forward. Anywhoooo I am happy and love my new life!
  2. UCSD was awesome! Dr. Horgan banded me a year ago next month. Cant believe it's been a year ago already...best of luck to you!! Is Mary still there? She was the best! How about Natalie?
  3. I will be banded 1 year next month WOW! I have not told anyone except my husband (also banded) and our parents. I am still thrilled I have not told anyone else, my friends have seen me through thick and thin and to them it's just me loosing weight again. Now I'll keep it off thanks to my band!
  4. Hello! I dont live too far away from you! Where are you going to get banded. I'll be banded for close to a year soon .... I have not even been on this site for a while but good luck! It was an awesome choice for me!
  5. My bmi was not high enough for my insurance to pay either. I wound up paying cash to get my band. Worth every penny!
  6. Hello! I have not heard of them before but you have one good referral! I was banded at UCSD ... they were AWESOME and if I had to do it all over again would go to the same place!
  7. Hello and welcome! Where are you getting banded? You will find lots of support on this site, I have found some great friends here.
  8. I STILL drink my protein drinks! I have one for breakfast and a snacl almost every day even though I am one of those banded who can eat anything I want...bread, pasta you name it I can eat it. Not a lot of it mind you but I always drink my protein for breakfast, it's awesome to have handy.
  9. The first few days were BAD for me too. It's not fast weight loss, it's slow but it's long term. I got the band to loose yes but I see it as more of a tool to maintain. I have lost before but have always gained it back. Now with my band I know I will never gain it back!!
  10. Hello! I am back. I had an OK day today till tonight. Had my shake for breakfast, another shake for a snack (that one had 30g protien and 160 cal). lunch was a stick of cheese a 1/4 a turkey sandwitch and a cup of watermelon dinner was Tamale pie and 4 Cookies for desert......my sweet tooth KILLS ME! I would have been OK had it not been for the cookies. We have a cruise this August , 10 weeks from now and I'd like to loose 10 pounds before we go.
  11. I am at a stand still also. Actually I have been content with my weight loss so far. I feel better and am buying smaller clothes. I am even smaller than when I got married so I am so happy about getting my band, it was the best thing I ever did. Well now I am not feeling so fine about standing still and need to get my brain back on board. I have not excercised once, I keep saying I need to and I do but I have lost neerly 50 pounds without taking a walk! Anywhoo I know I will jumpstart again if I break a sweat and cut out my sweets. Maybe if this thread keeps going and we post often, get to know each other a bit and share what we eat it will help us all? So far this morning I have had a cup of coffee and I will plan on a shake for breakfast. My egg shake has 50g protein and 220 cal.
  12. Brigette...yahooo for the 50 pound club! I LOVE MY BAND!!
  13. Hi 4x4 now you are my kind of lady! I love it!! Way to go with a winning attitude! Never give up!!! Never never give up, meeeee to, its my new mantra!
  14. Hi Happy!! Id love to do coffee again! Let me know when you are in SD again!
  15. Hey! Be pround! You have lost 35 pounds thats AWESOME! You are doing great, do not compare yourself to others. I know how hard that is for sure. I have lost 50 now since surgery and compare myself all the time to someone who had lap band surgery just a month before me and has lost 75, we see each other all the time and lately I have felt like a failure compared to her. But I know I am not a failure, without my band I would have never lost my 50 pounds or kept it off this long. We are doing GREAT! I am very proud of your 35!! Email me if you want and we can chat!
  16. Where is your pain? I doubt muscle pain has anything to do with the band, moving is my problem I need to join the gym ... but sooo not motivated to do it. I have lost 50 pounds without even going for a walk so I know if I would get moving I could drop the rest. My body is at a serious standstill right now.
  17. Ya all the people in San Diego are skinny! It was the first thing I noticed when I moved here in the 80's .... skinny, tan and beautiful! How are you doing a year into it?
  18. Wow so sorry to hear about the problems. My friend was banded there just after I posted but she has not had problems yet. I hope never. But YOUR good news is that you have lost lots! CONGRATS!
  19. My husband was banded in October and I was banded in November ... we are both doing great! He's doing soooooo awesome, pulling out clothes that he hasnt had out since high school and they fit! We love our bands!
  20. You have done great! Congrats! I have been banded 6 months, wow!
  21. OK so I will share.....I think I ate more today than I have in a while. B-fat free plain greek yogurt with 2tablespoons of flax seed. S-30g protein shake L-19g protein bar S-carrot juice from Jamba Juice another snack - 10 fishy crackers & a 1/4 of a cheese sandwich D- havent eaten yet but we will have home made beef barley & lentil soup.
  22. Just STOP! Arrest the situation NOW it's not too late!! I have never been unfilled however my fills dont tend to last too long before I "loosen up" hang in there and you will be able to do it! I feel your pain...
  23. Dont be scared, it's a simple surgery and you will wake up sore but fine. Just remeber to walk walk walk right away ... it will help with the gas pain. I was walking around my neighborhood the day I got home.
  24. And it depends on how you wear your clothes, do you like them tight? loose? I am 180 now and in a size 16 I am 5"8 1/2 tall I like my clothes to fit a bit on the loose side. Nothing more tacky than a bigger person in clothes that are too tight!
  25. Oh boy I hear your pain. I got stuck today but thank goodness I was at home. I had 2 bites of a turkey sausage on a bun (trying to create the hot dog experience) and at least one bite got thrown back up. Yuck. I hate eating out now because I am scared of getting stuck in public. Good for you it sounds like you handled your self very well. I also got stuck on meatloaf on a long drive once, thank god I had a big zip lock bag with me I slimed all the way up the freeway
