Ughhhh ...when does the burping stop?
Sorry to tell you but it doesn't go away for some people. I am a month out and am still doing it. Not as much as I was but it's still there. At least now I can feel it coming and am prepared for it. My neighbor is 4 months out and she still does it too.

2 questions .. Time of the month and constipation
My neighbor swears by the Atkins Advantage shake. It has 15g of Protein and 3gm of Fiber. She drinks two a day. Says she get her protein and fiber in all at the same time. Personally, I tried the drink but didn't care for the taste. So I eat a small bowl of Raisen Bran Cereal in the morning and in the afternoon, I eat 5-6 Triscuit crackers. The ones with Rosemary and Olive Oil. This combo works for me well. No more problems.

From the depths of hell to living off the grid.
Wow! What an experience. I'm so sorry that you had to go through of all it. My doctor wanted me to check with my PCP and have any pills that were larger than a M&M change to liquid or a smaller pill. He did change me to liquid potassium and another B/P that is smaller. I don't have any problems with my meds. I didn't have to take the pain med that was ordered, which was liquid Loritab. As already stated, please be careful about breaking/crushing or opening any pills without consulting your pharmacy. They will know best and easier to reach than your doctor. Good luck in your future.

insanity:eating candy
I'm a month out on this journey and it's easy for me to say "I'll never let this happen to me". However, I'm also smart enough to realize that those words could well be my downfall someday. I'm a retired nurse and therefore know all the pros & cons of good eating, junk eating, etc. I also know the road to failure. Been there, done that, with other diets. It's not the eating that is the issue here. It's BEHAVIOR. Simple as that. We have all undertaken a journey to better health and of course, weight loss. What does it take to get where we want to be? Hard work, sacrifice, sometimes hunger, and major behavioral changes. Life isn't easy and the band isn't magic. It's a tool to use to make changes....changes which should be good ones for us. It takes a major overhaul of your life to meet the requirements you set for yourself when you began all of this journey. It's like cleaning out your closet...off with the old and on with the new. You have to change old habits, find new good habits. Don't sit around being bored at night. That's a straight road to failure. Find a hobby to keep you busy and your thoughts off of food. T.V. is your enemy! It's nothing but food commericals. Since you're a teacher, you are very familiar with lessons plans. Make yourself a lesson plan for your own behavior and habits. Teach yourself new patterns to follow. Find ways to change your evening routines and don't even buy the candy. Why would you buy it anyway? It's a subliminal suggestion to eat it later. Change isn't easy but it can be done. If you can't do it by yourself, go back to your therapist. Find out why you like to sabotage yourself. Be kind to yourself. You deserve to be healthier and skinner.

no more......
I haven't worn one of those torture chambers in over 30 years but I understand as the tummy skin gets looser, I will have to use one if I want to look nice. I am not looking forward to it.

How soon can you have a drink?
I saw some good advice on another thread: Be careful about drinking so much that you endulge in too many calories and you drink until you vomit. Some people eat more while drinking too. It's not fun. My doctor suggests not drinking at all for awhile. I don't drink so it's not a problem for me.

1 size down
I am down 27.4 pounds and haven't gone down a size but my clothes are far more comfortable. Keep your eye on your goal and don't let any negative thoughts enter your head. Be happy for the one size and look positive towards the next downsizing.

Still having pain???
What kind of tumor? Was it always there or the result of surgery. What's up with it? I do feel tenderness around my port site and bending over is still painful.

Bad shoulder pain/ gas 10 days out
MoeMoe, yeah, it's too bad the politicians don't/won't take better care of it's resources. Every storm season, I worry about the area where we lived. We have so many friends down there. How's the gas? Hope it's better.

bowel regiment
My neighbor uses the Atkins Advantage shake. It has 15gm protein, and 5gm of fiber. She gets her protein and her fiber all in one shake. However, I didn't like the taste.

Cute Graphic
I saw a thread that had the cutest graphic and now I can't find it. It showed a fat lady that would change to a skinny lady. A moving graphic. Does anyone know where this one came from? I just love it and want to use it too.

Bad shoulder pain/ gas 10 days out
Hey MOEMOE, how's Louisiana keeping? Hubby & I spent 30 years in Thibodaux. We sure miss the good cajun friends and food! We retired and moved back home to Alabama. The shoulder pain is from the gas. Walk, walk, and more walking. Gas-X helps too. It will get better but don't be surprised if it comes back once in awhile.

weight gain :(
I don't see where you SO bad in your eating choices except for the added carbs. Maybe step up your exercise a little. Wait a week and see if you get another gain or loss. You know how our hormones can play around with us.

Cotton Mouth
Prior to surgery, I always had such a dry mouth. Felt like cotton was in it. I'm pretty sure it was my meds and I still take all of them. Not far enough along to drop some yet. Anyway, I have noticed that I seem to have more salvia (sp?)in mouth and no more dry cotton mouth. Is this normal? Don't get me wrong, I like not having the dry mouth but don't like the salvia all the time either. I seem to be spitting a lot. BTW: Off subject..is there a spell check on this forum?

Shingles
Neosporin is not for shingles. There is medications for shingles. Don't cover them either.

3 days post op and confused...
I was banded 8/11 and I am just now beginning to feel hunger. I started on regular food today and so far, have done well. Once the swelling goes down, you will be able to eat more. Just make sure you continue with your water & protein. It's very important. If you have problems with gas, walk, walk, walk. It helps.

Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients
I ask my neighbor about the fills since she is a Dr Schmitt patient. She said that Lisa has done both of hers. She also suggested that I NOT get the deadening shot. Says it hurts and the fill isn't nearly as bad. Is this correct information? She drinks Adkins Advantage Shake, twice a day. It has 15g protein, 1g sugar, 1g net carbs, and 2g of Fiber. Said that it has helped regulate her bowel movements. I tried the vanilla flavor and it isn't as good as the Matrix but I can tolerate it in order to get the fiber on a daily basis.

im hungry
Since you are on liquids, drink warm things like broth, strained soups, herbal teas. You aren't limited as to amount and everytime you feel hungry, go drink something. It will help. The time will pass.

Protien Shakes??
I tried Akins Advantage Vanilla Shake. It has 15g of Protein, 1 g of Sugar, 1g Net Carbs and 2 g of Fiber. It helps with the bowel situations since it has the fiber in it too. Drink two a day. Can purchased them from Walmart or by the case from Sam's club. Not too bad but they be COLD.

Feeling ashamed of myself :(
Repeat after me, "I forgive myself and will go back to what I am suppose to eat." The week will go by and then you can start on regular meals. However, since you were so easily tempted, you really need to evaluate WHY you caved in so easily, so that you can avoid future problems. I know you can do this! So many people before us have done it and we can too. Take care of yourself, follow the guidelines, make good choices, and the first thing you know, the guys will be drooling!

5 weeks post op
Erin, I think it's a smart idea to not go to cosmetology school right now. Every young lady should have a wonderful senior year and enjoy all that goes along with it. You also don't want to be so stressed that you can't enjoy either one. Also, you want to take the time to really get comfortable with your band, know what you can/can't do it with it. It's stressful enough learning about it. You're very young and life awaits you...but you don't have to rush everything. Enjoy life sweetie.

Fill port question
My friend has this surgery about four years ago. She wears a firm support panty and it helps all the giggling.

5 weeks post op
Erin, I wake every morning with nausea and it's not fun. I have found that if I have something warm, like tea or hot SF chocolate, it goes away. My body no longer likes cheese either. It makes me feel bad!
