  1. I can not eat bread but, I can eat Pasta and rice. I tend not to eat too much of them but, I am capable. Brigette
  2. Hello Everyone, I actually tried the pouch diet this week. It really worked well for me. I am in need of a fill and, I have been on a junk food binge so, I did this and my craving for sweets has subsided in addition, I did lose about 4 lbs. So, for me, it was just a way to get back focused. I followed more of the plan that my Dr. had me on the first few days after surgery and it was basically the same thing. So, I did tweek the 5 day a little. But, what ever it would take to get me back on plan. Brigette
  3. Skymoon has been my biggest motivator. She lets you know that this is really possible. I also like that she writes about her struggles also. Not everything is always rosy. I can't wait for her to get back to the US since having PS. I am sure she will be a success with that also.
  4. Hi Everyone, This is a great thread. I initially planned NOT to tell anyone. But, later this has become so liberating for me. I tell most people and truly don't care what they think. I have gotten some negative--but, I really didn't care. And, I have gotten stronger through out the process. In fact, I initially didn't have my picture up fearing that some would recognize me. But, now, like the song says, "lets give them something to talk about". lol Brigette
  5. Count me in!! Name************Starting**********Current**********Goal Brigette.............221........................198.............. .........150 This is likely too high for goal but it is the only size I can invision where I remember being content.
  6. I would like to join. Hopefully I am understanding this. The objective is to log a certain number of miles within the month. Does it matter if it is jogged or walked. I just started a jogging program. I will commit to 40 miles. Brigette
  7. Hi Jessica, I feel your pain!!! Maybe you could post a typical menu for the "experts" on the board can have a look. A 6 lb. gain sounds like quite a bit. I can't offer much assistance as I haven't had first fill. Wishing you well. Brigette
  8. Hello, I had posted on this just a couple of weeks ago. It was just fabulous. I had very little discomfort, swelling and felt that I could go back to work soon after. I don't have any visible scars and it has only been 1 month. Well, let me rephrase that. The scar isn't noticable at all. It is on the very edge of my belly button. My port is also located there. My only problem is that because I had so little stomach swelling, I felt zilch restriction from the very beginning. I have lost very well but, cant wait for my first fill in January. Any other questions, I will gladly answer. Specifically regarding the procedure itself. Just remember that I am still newbie. lol Brigette
  9. Hi Everyone, Thank you so much for your input. Someone asked about how is it decided on whom to do the SIL. I asked my Dr. on surgery day, if I could have it done and he said, matter of factly, how did you find out about SIL. I said that I had done research on every facet of the Lapband procedure. He said that he was new at this and had only done 60 or so, but he would consider trying it on me. So, I immediately said, do not use me as a gunea pig. He laughed and said that he is highly competent and confident in ability. He does this on mainly low BMI. Mine is 40 and he wanted to take a look at my belly. Very happy with the appearance. Brigette
  10. Good Morning, For all of those with SIL, I have a few questions:' I had surgery 12 November. My port is just above my belly button is this normal? I feel absolutely no restriction from day one? I feel my port very, very well through the skin, Is this normal? I was able to drink 64 Water in one sitting on the same day right after surgery. I chose to sip it but still easily went down. I felt very little discomfort after procedure. Which I am happy about. I am just concerned! I will say that the tiny little incision is fierce!!! It is nearly invisible. I really love that. I will say Doc said that I probably had very little or no swelling. Brigette
  11. I am so happy to see all of the responses!!! I am so stoked that so many did sooo well. For those that Celebrate Christmas, it is just 26 days away!! I will be so glad for January to get here!!! The holiday season is so cool in every way except the excessive amounts of food. :cursing:Wishing you all well!!! Brigette
  12. Well, I hope your thanksgiving 2009 was great and that you were able to stay on the plan. Let me share my story. I am 2 weeks out and on pureed food.. I had made a plan of what I would eat. I went to my inlaws and ate dressing(stuffing), yams, greens, and little turkey (I chewed it well). P.S. my inlaws don't know that I had wls. Then, I went to my families dinner, ate mainly the same foods w/little potato salad. All of a sudden, a german chocolate cake came into my line of vision. I promise you I felt it call my name. So, I said "how you doing". lol Actually, I only had a slither and had to leave the room because the potential was there to really do some damage. But, glad the day is over!!! How did you do! If you have tips or suggests on how you were successful, please post!!
  13. HI Everyone, Banded on 12 NOV 09. I feel really good. I ended up with a single incision. My port is in the front right above my belly button so, i feel it very easily. I have been eating very easily and plentiful. I can drink a glass of Water and eat 1/2 cup of pureed. My dr. said it was ok because I don't have restriction and when I do, I won't be able to eat much. Brigette
  14. Well, I actually had surgery on 12 November 2009. All went well. I am not in much pain. I vow to stay away from scale. I want to only weigh myself 1x a week. I stress out when the numbers aren't what I am looking for.
